Manifesto of the Socialist party of Linnuis

Emblem of the Socialist Party of Linnuis

Our raison d'etre

The Socialist party of Linnuis is determined to create a socialist state in which the government will strive to eliminate inequality. Once the achieved level of equality has been reached then the communist stage will begin. A gradual process of decentralising the government will then begin eventually leading to an anarcho-communist state.

How will this be achieved?

1. Democratically, in accordance with our principles that the people are the ultimate authority. We shall gain power by election and continue to rule democratically. However if the democratic option is not open due to a dictatorship being in power, then violent revolution will be necessary.

2. Once in power we will always remember that we are the servants of the people, not their masters. The people are the ultimate authority, as described in George Bentley's vision for the reformation of Linnuis's political and electoral systems. This will be done as soon as power is achieved to limit corruption as much as possible. Full democracy with various political parties is always to be maintained.

3. The power of the corporation will be curbed severely. All Linnuan based corporations will be taken over and nationalised. All businessmen that object will be arrested and face imprisonment. Publicly owned companies will be created subsidised by the government. Every citizen may start their own business or be self-employed, however if they employ another citizen, then those employed must be given an equal share in the company.

4. There will be a steady increase of the minimum wage and decrease of high wages until the point when all citizens earn the same for each hour of work. This will eventually lead to the point where money will cease to have meaning and will be abolished. Every citizen regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, background or political affiliation will be paid the same wage for the same work.

5. All ideas of class and race are to be eliminated. All mankind are brothers and sisters. We live under the same sky, breathe the same air and were made by the same God. Everyone is to be given the same opportunity. All schools and universities are to be publicly owned and free. Schools may decide for themselves what style they wish to adopt, so long as they reach a minimum standard of education.

6. All healthcare and dental care is to be publicly owned and free. A healthy population is essential to a working country. A state welfare system is also to be maintained to look after the sick, elderly and needy. The first duty of government is to look after its people.

7. We will strive to achieve a self-sufficient nation by boosting agriculture, exploring alternative energy sources and by creating publicly owned industry. This will prevent our enemies from trying to destroy our work with trading embargoes. Also a strong self-defence force will be maintained should our enemies resort to more desperate means.

8. Once a substantial welfare system and income equality have been achieved then a process of automation in factories and other dangerous and menial jobs will begin. Those who are laid off will be paid the national average wage.

9. Great care will be taken in order to cultivate a cultured and intelligent populace. The government will go out of its way to encourage the arts and science but will not interfere with how they are carried out. Accept in cases that may pose a threat to humanity, though this will probably only apply to science. When machines take over the menial jobs people will be free to pursue their own interests.

10. The chief function of the justice system will be to reform rather than punish criminals. All avenues are to be explored in an effort to eliminate crime as much as possible. We must reward those that keep the law as well as judge those who break it as an incentive to keep the law. Obedience through fear is not true obedience, but obedience through love is. We must act in a way that commands love and respect. Prisons are to be reserved for violent crime only.

11. Once total income equality is achieved then money will cease to have meaning and people will only trade by exchange of goods. Common ownership will be introduced and private property will be abolished. Thieves who try to take goods for themselves will still be punished. All land, business and goods will be owned by all and money will cease to exist.

12. Once this has been achieved, phased reductions in the government will be carried out until the government will cease to exist. Communities will appoint judges to keep law and order. These judges will meet regularly to amend the law when necessary and make sure that the region's laws are consistent with each other, thus uniting the nation. This will be the final phase which we have called 'The Anarcho-Communist State'.

13. Even during the anarchy a military is to be maintained to protect Linnuis from enemy invasion. The military will be under the authority of the judges. Should Linnuis be invaded, then a central government will be put in place and will endure the course of the war. Once the war is won it is to immediately dissolved. Linnuis will never fight a war of aggression or a "pre-emptive war of defence". Linnuis will only go to war if attacked.

Summary:
We recognize the difficulty of our task and admit that we will unquestionably stumble on the way. We also acknowledge that we could be voted out of power with our work only half done. And that the new government would undo all our work. We especially recognise that our work will take considerable time. It will certainly take years, maybe even generations. But we will pursue these policies regardless in the knowledge that we are doing the right thing. Now men and women of Linnuis, if you want the same reality we do then come and build it with us!
