Introduction
Linnuis is essentially my take on a romanticised version of Great Britain combined with some of my own personal opinions on "Utopia", and thus is very heavily biased towards my own opinions, beliefs, and politics. Although the official history of Linnuis places it in the real world just north of France, it often has made appearances in sci-fi RP worlds and so its history is slightly muddled and inconsistent. Just bear with me alright? After all, in Linnuis the flow of time is convoluted.
The island of Linnuis is situated to the north of the western European mainland, separated from France by the Brythonnian sea. Having no actual neighbours Linnuis has often felt separate from the rest of Europe, although the island has many times fragmented into various smaller Kingdoms, most notably: Loegria, Kambria, and Albany. These three smaller nations still exist to this day, united under the Linnuan banner.

Although now known as "Linnuis", the island was originally referred to as "the Tin Isles" by the ancient Greeks who, aside from the legendary giants, were the first to discover the island. This name was coined because of the huge tin deposits in southern Dumnonia. However, ancient records refer to the island as "Albion", meaning "the white". According to legend the island was named after the first settler of the island; the giant Albion - so named for his pale skin. It is much more likely that that the island was called Albion by Latin explorers who named it such because of the brilliant chalk cliffs of Cantweara.
The actual origins of the name "Linnuis" are somewhat unclear. According to legend the island was named after Linnuices, the great-grandson of the Trojan hero Aeneas. The island was widely known under the name of Linnuis by the time the Romans began to take interest in the 1st century BC. It is thought that the name comes from the Linnuan word "Llyn" meaning "Lake". Hence "Linnuis" would mean "set in the Lake", possibly referring to Linnuis being an island.
The traditional demonym for a native of the island is a "Linnuan".
This is a work in progress, it takes a long time to write something like this and I'm probably too busy playing video games so give me a break here.
