Constitution of Linnuis WIP

The Constitution of the People

Preamble

We the people of Linnuis do write this constitution in order to unite our fractured nation and to secure our freedom from the tyrants of former days. This constitution may not be tampered with without a constitutional referendum and shall always remain in effect as long as Linnuis does not sea into the sea.

SECTION I
Personal Freedom


Article 1
All citizens are guaranteed total freedom of thought. No intrusion by the state into a citizen's mind shall be allowed under any circumstances. A person's thoughts are sacrosanct and must be allowed no matter how divergent. No outside agent may intrude or try to control a citizen's thoughts without their permission.

Article 2
All citizens are guaranteed freedom of speech so long as it is not threatening violence against another citizen. To express an opinion is all mankind's God given right now matter how offensive. However, threatening violence, or an incitement to violence, shall be a crime since this is more than mere opinion.

Article 3
All citizens are guaranteed freedom of politics. No political party may be outlawed unless it is advocating violence and, or, genocide. Every citizen has the absolute right to join, or form, any political party they wish.

Article 4
All citizens have freedom of religion. Any person may choose any religion, or not, as the case may be. No matter which faith a person subscribes to they all are to be treated with equal rights.

Article 5
Every citizen has the right of assemblage both in private and in public. There is to be no limit on the number of participants in a public or private assembly. The government may not send the police or the armed forces in to disperse a peaceful crowd but may do so against a violent crowd.

Article 6
All citizens have the right to bear arms for the use of personal defence. Citizens may own low calibre semi-automatic pistols, non-repeater shotguns, and hunting rifles. No citizen may own assault weapons, RPGs, or machine guns. Firearms must be regulated by a governing body. No one with a record of violent crime may own a firearm. No one under 21 or those who suffer from a mental illness may own a firearm.

This constitution was voted for by the people of Linnuis on the 18th of May 2015. We hereby announce the establishment of the second republic of Linnuis.
