Religion in Osberg-Thitania

ALthough Osberg-Thitania is not a secular state in the true sense of the term, it has always encouraged pluralism and minorities have a strong voice and role to play in the affairs of the nation. Broadly, the significant religions are Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Buddhism.

CHURCH OF OSBERGIA:

The Church of Osbergia serves as the oldest organized religion in the Dual Kingdom , which is an offshoot of Orthodox Christianity and also the State religion of Osberg-Thitania . A majority ( 72%) of Osberg-Thitania's citizens are adherents of the Church of Osbergia. It has been estimated that 40% of Osberg Lingo-Ethnicity and 32% of Thitanian lingo-Ethnicity stock profess this faith.

The House of Osbergia said to store a rare relic of Mother Virgin Mary , mother of Jesus Christ ,is the most sacred place of pilgrimage for the Church of Magdalene. Every year, millions flock to this sacred place for getting a glimpse of this relic from across Osberg-Thitania.

Bishop Von Erikson is the most vocal Orthodox Osbergia priest against the Catholic Church's conversions and Islamic immigration into the dual Kingdom. Von Erikson has organized several protest marches and is in the forefront of the "Nationalist Alliance for Preservation of Osberg-Thitania" (NAPOT) . Von Erikson led NAPOT is a vociferous opponent of Queen Erkia I's immigration and open door policies and has espoused the de-enfranchising of the Muslim Arcadians and Alfarese populations in the Dual Kingdom.

CATHOLIC CHURCH

Catholicism is a growing religion attracting both Osbergs and Thitanians into it's fold. 5% of Osbergs and 6% of Thitanians have claimed Catholic Christianity as their religion in the recently concluded census. Evangelism by the Catholic Church has seen a meteoric rise in recent years and thousands of Dual Kingdoms citizens have converted to this faith.

Sunni Islam
The fastest growing religion in the Dual Kingdom is Sunni Islam, thanks to Queeen Erika's imigrant friendly and open border policy. Mostly professed by Arcadians who were expelled from Vetega after the great Vetegan war and were given refuge in Osberg-Thitania by Queen Erika I .A total of 8% of the Dual Kingdom's citizens profess this religion and is presently plagued by fundamentalism, non-integration and militancy. The sermons in these Sunni Mosques are given in Arabic and also Arcadian.

Shia Islam

The growth of Shia Islam was after the Alafarese refugees were given shelter when their nation collapsed. 4% of the citizens are now Shias . There has been communal riots between the Shia Alafarese and the Sunni Arcadians after the spurt of Arcadian influx. The Shias have integrated better into the Dual Kingdom and have also adopted the customs of Osberg-Thitania and have remain largely free from Islamic fundamentalism.

3% of OT are Jews who had migrated eight centuries ago from several countries and speak Aramaic. There is state recognition for Aramaic, which hs been granted the status of a protected language of the Union.

Some of the oldest inhabitants of Osberg-Thitania dating to antiquity has been tribes of Mongolian origin, the Xins. Xins had migrated in large numbers to OT as Silk and tea traders and had brought Buddhism to the nation in the 8th century BC . A lot of Buddhist practices have influenced the later religion of Christianity including the monastery structures.Budddhists from about 2% of the population.
