The Case for Conscription

Soviet Terrans are very proud of its compulsory military service. Such service is fundamental for so many reasons:

1) It eliminates "Military Caste"
We, Terrans, has no need for any caste. 100% volunteer army is a military caste since small section of the society has "tradition" to enter military service, while most Terrans don't. With conscription, every family in Soviet Terran has to enter military service. The military become the embodiment of the state instead of a state within the state.

2) It minimizes criminal influence on the military
It is an open secret that many felon enter military service to escape prison. Such action will criminalize the whole military institution. Conscription ensure that most servicemen are not felons.

3) It provides the military the necessary numbers
With conscription, the military don't have to face shortage. There will be enough personnel whenever we need it. There will be no false-advertisement to the society, no b-s-ing in recruitments, etc.

4) Conscription increase peace & professionalism
The society that definitely send its most affluent members' sons to the warzone will definitely criticize every single decision about war, and every step in conducting any war. More oversight, more responsibilities means more peace and more professionalism.

Hence, defending the Terran nation is the responsibility of the entire nation, not its felons, not its military caste, not its adventurers.
