Rules to Map Claims

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible to claim a spot on the map, you must:
1) Have been in Esportiva for at least 28 days (4 weeks) when the mupdate is run.
2) Have displayed a proficiency for sporting/Esportivan RP. This could take the form of a competent league post, a series of RPs in a tournament, or something similar.

HOW TO CLAIM
1) All map claims must be made in the claim thread. No post, no map claim.
2) All map claims should include a passage indicating whereabouts on the map you want to be, as well as any other features required: a teapot shaped border, a narrow strip of coast, etc, including at least a capital city amongst your list. The map is a tool for RP, and any serious map of your nation will require a capital city. If you care little enough about the IC geography of your nation that you're not fussed about a capital city, then they're going to care little enough about your IC geography such that they're not fussed about putting you on the map. To clarify, it is still fine to say "oh, just stick me anywhere, any size, ext to anyone, not fussed", but a capital city is a key part of any nation's IC information and will be required by them as proof you're taking this at least a bit seriously. More than one city is okay, obviously, with three, four, or five normal for a first time claim.
3) Don’t go all megalomaniac with your claim. There is no need to have a massive claim or to surround other nations, as the map updater will decline if they see megalomania or thinks you’re just trying to get your name in pixels.
4) Include the phrase 'Smegging Klingons' as the last words in your claim, so the map updater knows that you have at least attempted to read these rules.

CONVENTIONS
1) The map updater can do pretty much anything regarding coastlines and borders. If it’s grey space, it's ripe for editing slightly. The only exception to this is when the change affects somebody else's RP history, e.g. putting mountains where previously there has been lakes.
2) By taking an area next to free space, you agree to somebody who you may not particularly like taking the land next to you at some point in the future.
3) Naming rights of water areas fall to the first people to border them. If somebody wishes for a water body to have a name change, it must be agreed on by all who border it.
4) Map claims won't be edited the mupdate after being put on. Don't make him tinker ridiculously.
5) No more than one nation per user on the map at one mupdate, even if all of them meet the eligibility criteria.
6) There is no real point in harrying the map updater over how quickly the new mupdate is uploaded.
