History Timeline (UNDER COMPLETE RENOVATION)

Tristan Colonial Period (1501-1637)
On the eve of August 21st, 1501, Jeremiah Moore planted the first Avallion flag on the recently discovered Avonican continent. Granted by King William Pearson II, the first permanent settlement of Amelia was declared. Being the first permanent colonial establishment, following unsuccessful attempts of residency in the nearby towns of Clarkson and Wilmington, Amelia was considered to be the jewel of the Tristan Empire. Largely focusing on mercantile commerce with its motherland, the colony saw immense economic activity for periods at a time. Due to this, more grants were approved, allowing for the growing colonial population to seek new settlements along the coast. However, many attempts to expand inland to forest areas were hindered by existent native kingdoms. Mainly, the Kingdom of Eudokia controlled neighboring lands sought after by the Tristan colonists. Instead of immediate conflict between the groups, the two intermingled and shared technologies and practices peacefully. Largely suffering from poor infrastructural problems due to inconsistent trade with Avallia, the colonists learned architectural techniques from the Eudokian Kingdom. In return, the kingdom was given access to supplies from the outside world, as well as weapons to fight rivaling civilizations. As the years transpired and as the two societies became closer to one another, it started to become common practice for natives to take political positions within the growing coastal colony, now named New Caldwell. The two became so intertwined that the Eudokian-External Pact of 1545 officially recognized the territories as formal allies; the New Caldwell colony aided alongside the Eudokians in the Eudokian-Hesiod War (1548), the Great Native War (1550-1554), and the Eudokian-Galemos Wars (1555-1556). However, eventual anti-native sentiment exponentially grew domestically as Eudokians were given more political power in colonial government, the kingdom often times attempted annexation, and the colonists were subject to constant war with other empires. Alongside this, the Kingdom of Avallia saw the Eudokian Kingdom as a threat to the colonies, due to them expanding each year and threatening the existence of New Caldwell. Ultimately, Korbin's Rebellion of 1559 saw the first major conflict between natives and colonists. Loyal Tristans and colonial officials sent by the Selenian homeland deliberately sabotaged the Meeting of Great Leaders and their Subjects, which was intended to give Chief Emperor Basilius Lycos the recognized commander of New Caldwell. The successful sabotage lead to an outbreak of fighting between the groups, with the rivaling Empire of Theramos aligning with the colony to hinder further Eudokian expansion. The rebellion sparked into war on February 8th, 1560, with the Tristan Parliament declaring a state of emergency. This state of emergency gave complete control to the King, who declared formal conflict against the natives. The war lasted till 1570, with New Caldwell eventually winning after suffering from major casualties. Per the Treaty of Amelia, Chief Emperor Lycos was executed, one-third of the Eudokian Kingdom was ceded to the colony, and the Eudokian-External Pact was severed. The war's end would spark aggression against the King and Royal Parliament, consequently, as it was confirmed that they perpetrated Korbin's Rebellion and unfairly stripped the colonists of all of their power. Along with this, there most lucrative trade partner, Eudokia, refused to trade with the colony. Following the Treaty, the Period of the Stunt began, where economic growth came to a halt, and the Kingdom of Avallia exerted more control over the colonists. The Exclusive-Partners Act (1571) prevented all natives from having a government position in the colony, causing nearly half of the colony's leadership to forcefully resign. Immediately following, the Territorial Restriction Accords (1573) prevented any colonists from establishing homes or non-economic settlements in recently acquired territory. This caused distress across the colony, as many felt betrayed and ostracized. Binding policies continued to be ratified against the wishes of New Caldwell's people, causing anti-establishment beliefs to flare. Eventually, after continual backlash and dissent, King Pearson III signed the Acts of Forgiveness in 1582, granting economic cooperation with the now-struggling Eudokian Kingdom. The Eudokians and the majority pro-native colonists slowly rebuilt their relationship, allowing for more commerce between the two. However, the Eudokian Kingdom came to an end in 1591, following the Grand Eudokian-Theramian War. The Tristan colonists were forbidden access into the war, with many agreeing; the economic and military toll would have been massive. However, outrage ensued after it was discovered that the Crowned Parliament was giving funds and mercenaries to the Theramian Kingdom, after they conspired to completely erase Eudokia from the continent. Protests against the government became rampant, and the Theramos-New Caldwell Border Conflicts between 1591 and 1627. The colonists realized that their motherland only cared for its own interests and not of the colony, sparking the formation of the Atheenian Peoples Movement on September 21st, 1596. The movement organized many scattered rebellions across New Caldwell. Named after the Eudokian name for "The Trusted Peninsula", Atheenos would shape into the independence movement. With more restrictions against the colonists and constant attempts to suppress the Atheenian Peoples Movement, revolution was becoming increasingly imminent. With newfound alliances with smaller kingdoms aligned against Theramos, as well as sentiment to have a self-governing state open to native freedom and economic independence, the Revolution would begin.

Atheenian Revolution (1628-1637)
On the eve of May 14th, 1628, the First Respondent Militia staged an attack on the colonial Parliament. The brawl ended with majority of the lawmakers slaughtered and officers killed in gruesome fashion, similar to that of Eudokian ritual. After more attacks swept across the colony, King Lachlan XII declared a state of emergency, sending a military force to take back the colony. Once they arrived, war was officially declared by General Gatson after his battalion was defeated. The initial fight, known as the Battle of Osborn, saw the colonists barely win over the Kingdom of Avallia. With time to regroup and form stronger military divisions while Tristan forces return, the colony prepared for conflict with Theramos, leading to alliances with the Kingdoms of Myron, Pantheras, Thales, Theodora, and Agathon. As predicted, the Empire of Theramos declared war on the rebelling colony of New Caldwell in 1629. The war lasted for years, with major strides against the colonists on the eastern border. Eventually, enough supplies would be sent by the Azalia-Werner Commonwealth to fight back and reclaim lost land; this territory would be retaken completely by 1631. On the coast, battles raged on the Isonian Islands, who were largely bombarded and overtaken. However, the war took a turn in 1630, when the Kingdom of Ilatica and the Empire of Norfrai declared war against the Tristan Empire; this came from retaliation after the Millenium War. This halted Tristan interference in the conflict for years, allowing for the colonists to focus on Theramos. On April 28th, 1631, the United Atheenos Coalition was formed, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Avallia and forming the first post-revolutionary government. It centralized the war effort and focused on seizing the Isonian Islands with the help of the Cascadian Kingdom and the allied Azalia-Werner Commonwealth. Once done, the colony focused its war effort on Theramos and other Avonican-Tristan territories that bordered Atheenos. Aside from the Windsor Travesty and the Glennon Mutiny, the revolutionaries took full control of the war by outnumbering the loyalists through the use of outcast Eudokians. Finally, the Kingdom of Theramos ceased fire in 1636, pressuring the remaining Tristan territories to follow suit months later. One year later, King Lachlan XII and the Crowned Parliament removed all soldiers from the rebel colony and signed the Treaties of Colonies and Associates in the Ilatican capital of Fulvia. Within the treaty, the United Atheenos Coalition was granted power over the Avonican territory, all Tristan soldiers were banished from stepping foot in the new nation, all enemy generals and loyalists were tried or sentenced to death, any remaining territory in West Avonica was acquired to Atheenos, Norfrai, or Italtica, and the Commonwealth of Atheenos was declared as an independent state. Atheenos became the first colony to secede from its motherland. Back on the home front, the colony reorganized its eight colonial districts into provincial republics and the United Atheenos Coalition ratified the Articles of the Commonwealth, outlining a confederative structure to the governments.

Geography

Under the Great Avallion Kingdom, Avallion was the official language of the region. All government documents and articles were written in it, while public schools made the learning of the language mandatory. Because of this, the language would become integral to the growing society. However, it did get influenced and was adapted through foreign commerce. Therefore, majority of public institutions along the coasts and islands began to face greater changes compared to inland areas. For the beginning years of this transition, This would eventually merge with tradition Avallion.

Under the Congressional Republic and later Federative Cascade Republic, Avallion would continue to be the dominant language of Atheenos; carrying over from the old Avallion Kingdom, the language was made the national standard. Even though Avallion is prioritized and spoken by the vast majority of citizens, many documents from the government are written in various worldwide languages and it would become mandatory for all public school students to learn at least two languages (one of which being Avallion). In today's world, most citizens can speak Avallion and other languages, in order to be successful in the globalist nation. Due to foreign trade being a vital part of the Atheenian economy, linguistic diversity is more apparent in the West coast and islands (Trinne, Emmeri, Isonia, Doliene, Oslo Isles, and Elentra). Also, Athenon prioritizes Avallion and other languages for diplomatic purposes. Within Revet, Traventh, and Vedaria, Avallion is more commonly spoken and written.

After the Anean nation of Unitet once again reclaimed Atheenos after successfully annexing the Proto-Republic in 1971, the newly reformed Atheenian government was banned from enforcing Queenbethism. Because of this, around 30-40% of the population gave up their faith. Along with this, many Unitetian officials located in Atheenos punished those who publically practiced the religion, as it was considered a sign of rebellion against Unitet. Often times their suspicions were correct, as many congregations attempted to pray to Queen Requia in order to contact her of their situation. However, various groups around the territory relocated their temples to secret locations in caves, houses, and even abandoned factories in order to continue their prayers. For ten years, hope seemed lost as the Atheenians continued to be under control. Yet, the accelerating collapse of the Unitetian economy would eventually allow for the Atheenian Revolutionary War to kick start. For much of the war, the Atheenian revolutionaries fought for the name of Queenbethism. Due to the war starting and being successful for the separatists, Queenbethism once again had a surge of new followers since many thought that their prayers were finally received. In 1981, the Constitutional Republic was formed and many of the founders became devout followers of the religion. However, the recreation of another elective government would create the new faction of Queenbethism, called Republiism. Republiism, a far smaller sector of Queenbethism compared to Orthodox, was the belief that Atheenos is destined to become a republic. While majority of the community was Orthodox, some did convert to Republiism; this group would advocate for more liberal policies and greatly aided in the writing of the Constitution. Along with this, Republiists successfully advocated for the abolishment of state worship of religion.

For majority of the religion's life under the Constitutional Republic, Orthodox Queenbethism would start to lose its grip on the religion. Even though Orthodox Queenbethism stayed dominant in the religious world during the 1980s and early 1990s, another group would would be created. The Reformed Queenbethists, a group that was centrist between the conservative Orthodox and progressive Republiists, believe that Queen Requia is actually a person somewhere in the world rather than a spiritual figure. Despite no one knowing who or where Queen Requia lives, it is theorized that she is an immortal who resides in an unidentified village somewhere deep in the middle of the Anean desert spanning the continent; her soul is thought to transfer to the Queenbethist who did the most "good" acts in his/her life. While they believe she has abilities to keep Atheenians protected from outside invaders, they believe that she is just rather than biased towards Atheenos. They also believe that she is the physical embodiment of democracy, a close tie to Republiism. In regards to being just, Queen Requia is assumed to punish those who abuse their abilities to push edicts onto others. Because of this, it's believed that Unitetians were the first Reformed Queenbethists since they were the first group that ended involuntary worship in Atheenos. Because of this, often times the Orthodox and Reformed would get into conflicts over who has the moral high ground. While the Reformers supported the notion that the Orthodox spited Queen Requia, the Orthodox thought that the Reformed misinterpreted theBethamaria and would, in turn, be unholy imposters. This rivalry would maintain certain civility for years, but the Trisswood Massacre of 1997 would define the religion for decades to come. The Trisswood Massacre of 1997 was a tragic event that lead to the murder and defaming of nearly all Reformer followers in the suburban community of Trisswood. Predominately Reformed, a group of radical Orthodox was supported by various temples to destroy the Trisswood's community place of worship. While they did not condone the murder and injuring of the followers, the radical group, coined the Circle of Requia, would make a new name for the religion. The media and numerous ignorant Atheenians quickly saw the entirety of Orthodoxy as a group of murderers. This would cause many to convert to being Reformed and even Republiist. Even though the faith would recover years after the horrific event, it would be longer for everyone to forgive those who supported the Circle of Requia and the temples affiliated.

From 2001 to 2015, little attention was given to Queenbethism. However, the Atheenian Civil War starting in late 2015 would cause minor uproar in the religion. As communism was considered to be totalitarian, the Reformed Queenbethists were in complete defiance to the South's fight for independence against the North. Most followers of the religion who were Orthodox also supported the North's efforts since they were nationalist and considered the separating of Atheenos to be an act against Queen Requia. This would cause debate over whether internal conflicts would cause Queen Requia to aid in the victory of the Atheenians, though. After the Civil War, the largely conservative and nationalist North would maintain its Orthodox leanings and reconstruct destroyed temples. Since the community began to grow once again after 2025, the Orthodox Party managed to gain enough seats in Congress to be an official political organization. Even though the Reformed and Republiists considered the party to be a publicity stunt and against the morals of those who legitimately followed the religion, the party managed to beat out the Republican Party for Presidency in the 2030 National Election. The Party's representation under the Presidency would only last two years, though. This was because of President Randell Hawling resigning after being investigated for attempting to blatantly undermine the Constitution and expand the role of the Executive Branch without consent from legislators in Congress. Following the end of the Constitutional Republic, the Orthodox Party would be reshaped into the Tolerance Society of Atheenos; a political party open to all religions and supporting freedom of expression with progressive policies.

Today, Queenbethism is still the most practiced religion in Atheenos with its largest followings in the provincial states of Revet and Traventh. Currently, 37% of worshippers call themselves Orthodox while 61% are registered Reformers; only 2% of Queenbethists are Republiists.

Each state has representatives that are required to follow the majority party voted on by the state from the Prime Minister Election every six years. The representatives and governors voice the complaints, ideas, and rights of their respective state and make sure that it has a voice in the federal government.

Despite this, states have a large amount of autonomy to enact laws of their own, but each must be approved by a smaller version of Congress called "Edict de Maison". The federal government will always have more say and can overrule any law passed by a state.
