Veronique Aurenbonn looks out her window at the mob of demonstrators amassing outside the Imperial Residence. One could say that there are at least 10,000 people being held back by a phalanx of Iennic Imperial Guards. The structured red, white, and gold mass holds back a horde of chants and hollers of, "DEMOCRACIE, PAI TYRANNIE!" (Democracy, not tyranny!). Long banners stretch for hundreds of feet saying, "Vestiarque, Isecceque na vieu pai voux" (Vestiarch, Iescech doesn't want you), and, "Contalai plur vailles?" (How many more lives?).

The recent developments in New Dukaine with Arrian rebels and instability with Agoran borders being redrawn at a whim have left the much of the populace of Iescech afraid of the future. They are calling for a new amendment to the Iennic Principal Document that would allow citizens to choose their leader, rather than be passed down through dynastic rule. The proposal is being met with fierce debate on the floor of the Rotunda with those loyal to the dynasty arguing that imperial rule has given way already to democratic reforms in the past, and what Iescech has now preserves the culture and civil liberties at the same time.

Opponents, led by Anton Casiller, argue that the people of Iescech have long been oppressed by the liberal views of urbanites who are more preoccupied with social safety nets than the safety of Iennic peoples and their sovereignty. They argue that too much power has been vested in the Agorament, and it's time for Iescech to bring back the decision-making to Iescech. His supporters are calling for a complete overhaul of the dynasty and for elections to be held for the first time since the founding of Iescech to choose their leader directly.
