Yes, usually you would think that the Lenin name would be a bit of a red flag.

I saw Lenin in my childhood. I must add Lenin had already been long dead then - I'm not old enough to have seen him alive.

The fuel subsidies were not sustainable - the government could not just go on subsidising fuel. And why are leftists supporting fuel subsidies? Are they not supposed to believe that gasoline is very bad - C02, global warming and all that.

Also, and more importantly, governments should be changed by ELECTIONS - not by riots on the streets, driving people from their offices, and taking police officers hostage.

As for the first name of the President of Ecuador - people do not choose their names at birth, his far left parents choose that name (it is not his fault).

I find it weird that they just have his body preserved. Besides the fact that Lenin was a terrible person, you don’t see other nations preserving their long dead leaders and putting them on display.

Did not Vietnam do the same with Ho Chi Minh? And Bulgaria did the same with their first Communist dictator, although he was cremated after the fall of Communism. And I think you can still see Mao (and Lenin for that matter). Commies are weird...

Not officially, but Lenin is still in the Mausoleum and Stalin's still buried next to it. And state propaganda promotes positive views of both. In fact it is a felony to mention some of Stalin's crimes.

That’s really stupid.
They were monsters, plain and simple. And so is Putin.

The people are buying all that crap. The Russians are very good at propaganda. They can't really do anything else well, but they surely know how to lie. They've been practicing the black arts of propaganda and misinformation since at least the 18th century. Remember Potemkin villages? A good metaphor for entire Russia, BTW. And in late 19th century they created the greatest piece of fake news ever - Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

First they hated Britain. When it was #1 (since Waterloo till about WWII). Then they switched their affections to America. And they could not feed their citizens before 1922 too. One of their worst famines was in 1921. But Herbert Hoover organized relief and fed 10 million Russians (everybody was so impressed with his performance that several years later he got elected president - and did not really impress anybody with his performance).
