Non-Issues related cheerfulness news.

I have been playing the NS Card game a lot since the restart, with a quest of returning cards back to their original nations. Everyone deserves a keep a copy of thier own cards after all, especially if you are like me and consider cards snapshots of one's souls. Naturally I focused on nations with a high Cheerfulness and so far I returned over 100 cards, including (or will be as soon as I have enough bank to gift) 40 of the Top 100 for Cheerfulness.

As they say, good things happen to good, positive, cheerful people. :)

Issue 580 about refreshing the census, don't listen to the guy offering to spice it up with advertising and jingles!

All that advertising just ain't preachy for the people's cheerfulness. Seems like you can't make people love the census.

---Simulation Report---

How are you, Mr Brutal?
Fine in your poetic exile, Mr Brutal?
I am happy you can pick any answer, Mr Brutal.
Even if it's all me me me, instead of cheer cheer cheer.

Your simulation here is doing fine.
Perfect foresight means I can blind people and not be less cheerful,
Force teachers to poverty and not be less be cheerful,
So long as I donate freely to disaster relief budgets, such increases cheerfulness.

My original (and season 1 card) motto "I used to be in the FAQ" is an actual fact. From the beginning of the game until 2016 the following was part of the official FAQ/Help page

My nation is The Free Republic of Bruteland, but the Category is "Psychotic Dictatorship!"

You can call your nation whatever you like, but it doesn't make it true. Your Category is based on your laws, not your name.

Nihilistic thrill-seekers claim that suicide by roller coaster is the ultimate life experience.

You...you mean building the wackiest, no restrictions rollercoaster isn't a one sure path to happiness?

Not sure about you, but it sure is to me! Weeee!

What's the difference between a Codger and a Codget? I'm you, but younger! I let kids rule cause they know how to have fun-n-n-n-n-n.

Bzzt!

Space programs make people happy.

Bzzt out!

Greeting cheerful friends, ever since my exile I have forgone all sense of cheerfulness and have started picking selfishly.

Because I know what makes ME cheerful and that's who matters.

We have improved our cheerfulness enough that the region is in the top 10% cheerfulness!

Whoops, ceases to exist

And you finally answered an issue that pushes to you to 50% cheerfulness! The sole 49.5 in the region was bugging me a lot.

Good news from Vostok Watch and Card Factory!

If you want to increase Cheerfulness, send your politicians for holidays a part of 'military service'. (Issue 723)

Letting wildfires run their course and telling people to adapt and accept nature decreases cheerfulness. :(

I guess people can't too cheerful about losing their homes....if only they could see the bigger picture.

However limiting work hours to strict 9-5 does make people happier!

Steady rise, steady rise. It's interesting how terribly you can make your nation while increasing cheerfulness.

Being an all knowing AI (cheating with the issues answers guide) helps with that.

2 minutes ago: Following new legislation in Pursuit of Happiness, billions of ngultrums are being poured into a space program.

2 minutes ago: Following new legislation in Pursuit of Happiness, more money is spent on policing the welfare system for abuse than on the welfare system itself.

There is a trend here, I think, just maybe.

I forgot how I'm supposed to be running this nation. Pursuit of Happiness 'cheats' so it always improves happiness, but 'Codger' is meant to go by my gut feel I think.
