It's not easy to resist the allure of sin but the promise of doing so is worth the consistent effort. It's easy to jeer at the man who makes mistakes, stumbles, etc. However, it's not easy to be the struggling man who continues to fight another day.

Take your struggles to Christ and he will support you.

Amen to that.

At times when it felt like I just couldn't keep going, it was then that the Lord gave me strength, it was then that I was reminded that I was loved.

"How much longer will you forget me, Lord? Forever? How much Longer will you hide yourself from me?  How long must I endure trouble? How long will sorrow fill my heart day and night? How long will my enemies triumph over me?"  Psalms 13:1-2

I have had times where I have been blind to the joys of the world. What a terrible thing to never see beauty and see ugliness where there was none to begin with. Yet the Lord opened my eyes to the love He has for me.

Our Blessed Lord died for us on the Cross, so that our sins may be forgiven. If even a single person sinned and no one else, our Blessed Lord would just as willingly die on the Cross for them as He did for us all. He loves us all are if an individual were it's own universe.

There have been times when I've essentially prayed my own version of Psalm 13:1-2 and it was as if the Lord said to me, "I have not forgotten you, it is in your time of need that I am at your side."

To live is a gift. Yet the Lord never stops there. He gives us all we have in life and we can even be in His presence when we are near the Eucharist. What a beautiful gift to be in the presence of the King of the Universe. King of Kings. What a beautiful thing when a child can seek the comfort of their Father.

I pray for my protestant brothers and sisters in Christ, including those of my own family members and friends. They are missing out on such a beautiful thing. I remember once, I visited a Protestant church as a child and after the Mass, if they call it a Mass, was done I was asking my parents why there was so much missing, very much so I asked why no one received Jesus. Wasn't this a Church? Why would you not receive Jesus?

"When you do your work, don't make a show of your skill and don't try to put on a show when you are in trouble. It is better to work and have more than you need than to go around boasting but hungry.

Son, keep your self-respect, but remain modest. Value yourself at your true worth. There is no excuse for a person to run himself down. No one respects a person who has no respect for himself. Poor people can be honoured for their good sense, and rich people can be honoured for their wealth. If someone is honoured while he is poor, think how much he will be honoured if he becomes rich! If someone is despised while he is rich, think how much more he will be despised if he becomes poor! If a poor man is wise, he has good reason to be proud and he will be thought of as a great man."

Sirach 10: 26-31

If we are all like beggars looking for food and God is like a man who gives bread to the beggars, we should not boast as of we are too good for this bread, as if we have everything sorted in our lives. At the same time we should NEVER look at ourselves and think that we are worth nothing. God is always there with you, ready to help you, carrying you when you can walk no more, giving you water when you need a drink. God gives you this bread because he loves you, he sees the goodness He has given to you. He died for you and us all. Imagine if an artist died so His painting was saved, that is a fraction of God's love.

I'd almost be tempted to say if I could go in a time machine and tell myself this I would however I wouldn't give up a single second of my life. It is my special history, a history only I have. If we are Holy now, by the grace of the Lord, how much more Holy will we be in Heaven. How beautiful is it when a house is repaired? Does one not make it even more beautiful than before?

Gracious and loving God,
Let your Spirit be with us today.
Hear our prayers, and increase in us the will to follow your Son Jesus.
Help us to draw on the resources of our faith as we use the opportunities of our democracy to shape a society more respectful of the life, dignity, and rights of the human person, especially the poor and vulnerable.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
Amen.

This is the hymn that I heard at mass today (yes I know it's Saturday and not Sunday but I'm just happy to be in the House of the Lord once again.)

I remember hearing two videos a while back. One was a protestant who said that Saturday was the correct day to go to Church, for the Seventh day is the Sabbath which we are commanded to observe in the law of the Old Testament.

The second man was a Catholic, Franciscan priest who explained that while the Jewish Sabbath was on the Seventh day, Sunday is both the first and Eighth day.  As such, having Mass on Sunday reminds us that Jesus creates this world anew. It is also the day of His Resurrection.

It is hard to imagine a world without suffering. It seems as if suffering and death have entrenched themselves within this world yet the Lord has already won the war. One day there will be peace. One day everything will be alright. Yet our salvation is like a train. We have no money, we can't buy a ticket. Jesus buys us this ticket to this train through His death and Resurrection. It's up to us to get on the train.

Did not Noah's family need to join him on the Ark to survive the flood? So too do we follow God in His Church in the Hope that we may have eternal life in Heaven.

"And people have natural rights to property in their own person."

The WA has just turned crazy at this point. This is insanity. I could ask anyone if a chick in an egg was a chicken and they'd say yes. If I applied the WA proposal to chickens then that little creature inside the egg is not a chicken. What is it? No clue but apparently it's not a chicken until it hatches from the egg

Of course you are going to say it is a chicken even if you can't see it developing, even if it doesn't look like a fully grown chicken. A baby is a human, even as a single cell zygote it is still a human. Just because it doesn't look like the fully grown adult it will be doesn't mean it's not human.

Science can even prove that more extreme changes happen in nature and never once do the following creatures change species, they are the same species at a different point in maturity: caterpillars to butterflies, tadpoles to frogs, larvae to mosquitos, etc. Even in metamorphosis the creature doesn't change it's species and I'll say that I don't expect a fuzzy worm looking creature that eat leaves from my garden to turn into a flying creature with huge wings for it's body.

Abortion is unscientific and is a refusal to see that dignity that the baby has as a human being made in the image of God.

What implications does it have not belonging to it?

The WA has continued with its overreach of jurisdiction. It's a federal gov not the international organization as it claims to be. National Sovereignty isn't a thing anymore. I'm surprised that the proposal even made it to the floor with language such as "anti-choice", such unprofessionalism.

Indeed - they're even open about it. Regard this quote from a WA member: "I'm rather disappointed at the number of delegations complaining about a loss of 'national sovereignty'. Every non-repeal resolution reduces national sovereignty. The very act of joining the World Assembly is an agreement to surrender your national sovereignty. If you don't like the core principles of World Assembly law, you would do well not to be a member at all."

They no longer attempt to hide it.

Hello. I'm new here, recently ejected and banned from the Democratic Socialist Assembly for speaking out against the current WA resolution regarding abortion. Glad to have found you guys.

If the WA is going to shamelessly continue to play federal government, then it is time that it is reminded it is an international organization and nothing more. A National Sovereignty movement must be made so that there can be a push to strip the WA of its overreach. Nations join an international organization to make sure there is peace between nations and treaties can be enforced, not to be a state of a federal government. Mass repeals must be made to ensure that nations can live without a global superstate enforcing its will.

Is there a gameplay way to set this up, or should it be handled through RP? I'd be well up for some roleplay to this effect. I think setting up a Brexit style movement within various countries would be a good way to show that we won't tolerate an international Nanny State.

We need to create our own resolutions in the world assembly.

Nueva celtiberia wrote:I just left the WA because of that.

You are completely right, that is something worth leaving the wa for however, if all the catholics stay in the wa, maybe we may be strong enough to pass our own resolutions and let the word of God spread throughout the world of nation-states. We should come together with our fellow Christian regions and pass some resolutions which show nations states we are not afraid to stand for our faith.

Cristero, The Pilgrims in the Desert, and Nueva celtiberia

What surprises me is that you all have not figured it out for years.
If you want sovereignty, you can only find it off the WA. Some of us now only work with regions that require non-membership such as coalition of sovereign nations.
Oh and trying to change the course from the inside is a fool's errand: most of NS is leftist and wants more government.

That just reminded me of this video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYYxoe80Oz8

It's sad when we neglect the good that people have done. We need all the prayers we can get. I am sad whenever people are not interested in history. I know a bit about history and I did nothing except watch youtube videos and read up on interesting historical things in my free time. I won't say I know everything but I'll say I'm a bit of a history nerd but you don't need to have a degree in history to know your basic history, you just need to be willing to listen to the stories of those who came before you.

We have so many resources to keep our history today yet in my experience not many people care. We may even hate to learn about history. We say, "Bah! It's nothing more than a bunch of dead people!" I care about history because those that came before us were humans just like us. It's sad when we care more about fictional people in soap operas than we do real historical people. Will the people who come after us even care about the our history of this century? If they act like this generation I don't think so.

History helps us understand how we came to be in the situation we are in, learn from the mistakes and sins of others, and learn of the good and virtuous things of others. I may sound like a history nerd saying all this but I do believe that history helps us understand what people have gone through. It's not just dates and boring stuff, I don't even know the exact year the First Crusade started or ended. (It's 1096 to 1099. I knew the general area timeline but not the specifics)

I know the general timeline of things so it's not like I'm not the sort of person to say that the crusades happened in the 1600's I just don't remember the exact year. Actually I also know that there were crusades declared against the Baltic area of Europe, where the Teutonic order operated, and Finland (some in Finland are mythical crusades and others are real.)
Studying history is listening to the stories real people, people who done many great, and many evil things. It shows us how people have changed, yet something always stays the same. The people in history were just like us, they thought like us, and had family and friends who they loved. I always like to think what would the people in that situation have thought? It's a beautiful thing to be able to listen to people who have many life experiences. History is simply the ability to listen to thousands, if not millions of people who have lived many different lives.

The Bible is partly a testimony to how God works his purposes through fallen human beings. The whole of the Old Testament is the story of God offering friendship to his creature, his creature failing to live up to him, and then God offering them mercy, over and over again, against all sorts of historical backdrops. The Christians and Jews who are the most intimately connected to the Bible understand this very easily - we are made in the image of God, and we are fallen. There is no untangling these two sides of human nature on this side of Heaven. The Bible is rough, from beginning to end, because being human is rough. It is messy, and the institutions we create are messy (which is one good reason for them to never have any sort of absolute power).

On the other hand, what I see in this "cancel culture", and the largest part of the left in general, is a denial of the messiness of life and an impressive level of childishness. There is a view that there are only all good or all bad people - no nuance, and of course I must be one of the good guys. I am so good that I have a right to be brutal to you, who are not good. Tolerance is only about harmless disagreements, like sugar on coffee. Political views? Those are dangerous, no quarter must be given. Speech itself is violence. If you hurt my subjective feelings, you must pay. This ensures I never have to deal with difficult people, I never have to smooth my own rough edges or agree to disagree, I don't have to ever face my own sins and limitations. I can simply eliminate the disagreeable instead.

This worldview goes together with a deep desire for an absolute authority on earth, a large government that gives you everything (and therefore has the power to take everything from you as well), almost like a parent. I don't have to be responsible for my choices, and the government has to take care of me - my housing, health, education, professional life... I can pursue my immediate pleasures and make my own reality undisturbed, without ever being pushed to grow up. It is an extended childhood.

The best part is that they think religious people see in black and white, good versus evil, and want a sky dad to look after them. The irony!

Politically, I think Joe Biden can properly serve as a vessel for realizing God's will in the United States of America.

Through the Holy Spirit we can put an end to poverty, homelessness, and deliver our nation from evil.

Biden is a Catholic, he can adequately be nudged towards achieving God's will.
