Candlewhisper Archive wrote:Hey, is it true that Americans drink yoghurt?

Because here in the UK we eat yoghurt.

I read on the internet a mention of a woman who forced DNA tests on her room-mates to see who drank her yoghurt, and I thought "Drank? Huh?".

"Yogurt" is acceptable everywhere, but tossing that silent "h" in there excludes non-Brits. This sort of thing is why we roughed y'all up during the War of 1812! I cannot believe that Canadians were forced to burn down the White House over this!

Four for me.

Canaltia wrote:I know you've left at this point, and I don't really expect you to come back, but I think I speak for the vast majority, if not everyone here, when I say that no one hates you here. In fact, I would love it if you stayed and became an RMB regular. The only reason people are giving you a hard time here is because the way you conduct yourself on the RMB isn't really seen in a good light here. If you need a place to go and post random strings of characters, that's fine, but that place is not here. The RMB here is more so for discussion on current events, casual conversation, and apparently yogurt. If that's something you're looking for, feel free to come back. If not, I wish you the best and hope you find a good community that suits you.

Thanks for saying that people dont hate me here and I know a lot of people dont but im not gonna come back because I feel like I got a real bad reputation here and I want to start over somewhere else now. Thanks a lot it was nice while it lasted. I might come back in a month or two or maybe a week I dunno. But keep a look out for me. Also im american and I dont drink yogurt. Ive never heard or seen someone drink yogurt lol. Also The wiccan israel don't be badmouthing ME. I aint badmouthing this region no more also not cool to follow me to the region I went to and say some bad stuff bout me. Not cool man.

Respectfully, I was not badmouthing you. You posted on a public message board (in a region that we happen to share embassies with) that everybody in the region you were previously in hated you, which is untrue. I meant every word of my post and I suggest you read it again if you thought it was "negative".

Triple post... I wonder why people get annoyed by your posts.
It's not that we hate you, it's just that constantly policing people to stop spamming isn't fun for anyone involved, and it's exceedingly frustrating when people choose to ignore the rules over and over after being told them, and then say "oh I didn't know that was a rule! How should I have known?".
People advised you to start over with an entirely new nation back when you were first banned, but you chose to take the burden of continuing with a negatively viewed legacy. That is of your own volition.

In Bulgaria, there is a traditional drink that is called ayran (I think that's how you would romanize it). It is simply water and yogurt mixed, and pretty much all Bulgarians drink it for breakfast. I'm kind of indifferent on it - I don't dislike it, but I just prefer eating my yogurt.

Oh, now I understand what you all mean by double posting. I thought it was when you posted separate, unrelated things in the same RMB post, now I get that it's the opposite, i.e. the same nation saying multiple posts in a row.

McClandia Doge 2 wrote:Well i probably am about to quit nation states soon because no seems to like me.

You'll have to forgive my presumptuousness, but as someone who previously was pretty much obsessed with the approval of others, I can empathise with that sentiment. I must say though, as I've experienced first hand, that how you feel about yourself, that is to say being comfortable with yourself, is far more important than what people think of you. Especially in this kind of environment (the internet), what people across the globe think of you should be of least concern, as it's unlikely to affect you in your day to day outside of the internet. If you're for some reason unable to stop and/or identify your attention and/or approval seeking behaviour, you probably need to start asking yourself the hard questions, questions like: "Who am I and what do I want in life? Why do I want the things I do and why do I think the way I do?" If you can answer those questions, then you most likely can find at least a path to either happiness or contentment, as sometimes being content is more than enough.

To conclude, I bring your attention to this piece of wisdom from the The Art of War by Sun Tzu, that I feel really is quite relevant to what I describe above:

"Know the enemy and know yourself, fear not a hundred battles; know not the enemy but yourself, for every victory a defeat; know not the enemy nor yourself, in every battle suffer defeat." -Sun Tzu

You are from Bulgaria? Cool. We have the same drink in Turkey as well, but we don't drink it for breakfast.

Coincidentally, last night I actually dreamed about finding a bottle of ayran in the fridge (near impossible in the US).

The universe is trying to tell me something, I suppose. Maybe I should try and see if I can find ayran in a nearby Turkish/Middle Eastern store. Would be great to drink on these comparatively hot days.

To whichever region youre going to, I hope the people like you there though I doubt it if you keep posting like you did in forest.

Also, TRIPLE POST!

Day ? of the Totally Silent Campaign:

As per usual in my brilliant latest manoeuvre, Chan Island's bid to become Forest Keeper by staying totally silent and invisible on all matters is paying dividends. By ghosting my way through the campaign, I ought to at the current calculated risks achieve as barnstorming a victory as that great icon of out of the limelight runs, Joe Biden, has achieved in the democratic primaries! >:D

Effazio wrote:How many of you have read a Max Barry novel? I've read three, but ironically not Jennifer Government.

Still never actually read a Max Barry novel, even though I know I ought to. Just another couple books to stack on my ever expanding infinite list of books I will want to get round to reading one day...

Oh, no, I have plenty of promises.

However, I plead the fifth as to revealing them.

Apparently, one can confuse classical Russian literature quotes with... those of a mobile game based on teenage boy-idols.

Middle Barael wrote:Yoghurt is simply the British/Commonwealth way of spelling, while yogurt is the Americanized way.

I don't know what it's like for other Commonwealth nations, but here in Australia we tend to use 'yogurt' rather than with the added 'h'. We tend to use either the American word or the British word seemingly arbitrarily. Sometimes we have our own words for things that aren't from either place. In our household, it can get especially confusing because we chose the American 'chips' over British 'crisps', but also British 'chips' over American 'fries'. Good luck with working it out on context which one we're referring to. Also of note is that which word we use depends on the household. I know people who do call chips crisps.

Yogurt is usually eaten to me, although I have had yogurt in a tube (which I've never heard be called gogurt) and you kind of have to drink that.

Does anyone know the differences between social democracy and liberal democracy? I like what Bernie says, but perhaps a bit more moderate, so more in line with Canada or Germany or New Zealand I think, but I still don’t know which ideology that is.

Well, it's more like school drama that somehow prompts the same forlorn and eloquent energies as Russian literature.

Enjoy this last chance to express true love for the mother of your choosing!

Wasn't McClandia the one that brought in a puppet to spam the RMB relentlessly, then acted like it wasn't him, only to get his main nation deleted by the moderators along with his puppet nation?

Don't look for approval on the internet. The internet is full of people who have their usual filters of politeness and fear of reprisal shut down because they are anonymous. It's a lot easier to be rude to someone when they can't see your face. It's a lot easier to be mean to someone when you can't see their face.

The net's full of stories of people who looked to the internet for approval and found only sadness. There's teenagers who've committed suicide because they asked the internet "should I kill myself?" There's people who have sunken into depression because people are judging their appearances negatively. There's fora where people persuade anorexics to starve themselves, and direct self-harmers to avoid help. There's networks of paedophiles telling each other it's okay to abuse kids, and kids being told by said paedophiles that they're not cool unless they post pics of themselves.

Nobody will ever like you on the internet. They might like a post you make or a video you record, but those things are not you.

Don't seek validation from the internet, you will get none.

Don't expect strangers on the internet to care about you. Seriously, we don't. We don't know who you are. We don't care. You shouldn't care that we don't care. If we get to know and like you, we might start to care a little, but not to same degree we care about people whose faces we've seen, and whose hands we've held, and whose tables we've shared. But if we don't know you at all, then we don't care about you at all (except maybe in some abstract "all humans" sort of way), and if that's the case, then why should you care what we think of you?

However, don't believe you can exist without validation from anyone. That's an adolescent myth, believing that no-one's opinion matters. Instead, find the RIGHT people and get their approval. Find the people whose opinions matter to you, ensure you've got good reasons for their opinions mattering, and then get THEIR approval.
