Plane shot down over Taiwan Strait's identity revealed

Zhen dynasty wrote:Hainan

Kong Zixun of the House of Kong was a young, 24-year old girl. Formerly a palace musician, she specialised in the electric guitar - now, she was at home, relaxing with family, sipping on a soda.

It was a bright, sunny day. Everything was fine. There had been sounds of fighting the other night when she drove back home from her university. The Eastern Depot was embarking on a nationwide purge of 'counter-revolutionary traitors', loading them into trucks and sending them back to the mainland. A plane had gone down over the Taiwan Strait - she had later seen the missile batteries on the island go active, and some plane sorties flying in and out of the nearby airfields - but there was otherwise nothing of concern.

Life was normal, and life was good.

The doorbell rung, as she stood up. She walked towards the door and opened it. She was instantly greeted by the face of several men in silk robes and black Mandarin squares. There were noticeable bulges on their waist for holsters, and they carried their distinctive wooden tablets.

The Embroidered Uniform Guards. The Emperor's secret police - alongside the Imperial Censors.

"Can we come in, Lady Kong?"

"Yes..." she was uncertain and anxious. The EUG never turned up to residences unless it was to arrest people. Did she do something wrong?

"Lady Kong, we're enacting continuity of government. A member of the Imperial Household Department will meet us at the Forbidden City. Madam, you are now the Empress of the Zhen Dynasty."

"What?"

"It's a long story. Every single heir to the throne has either died, been forced to exile, or otherwise become a criminal. The only heir left in the royal bloodline is yours - since your House married into the royal House. Do you understand?"

"Yes?"

"Good. Come with me."

Recently, a plane was shot down over the Taiwanese Strait. The planes identity had not been confirmed but the detachment of Imperial Commissars deployed recently figured it out. The plane has been verified as the one on which the husband of Princess Kim Yo-Jong was travelling. This has angered the Kim Dynasty & Supreme Emperor Kim Jong-Un was reportedly 'Furious' at the news. He has demanded that the Commissars find out who did this so that the Kim Dynasty may enact its revenge. Princess Kim Yo-Jong was extremely sad upon hearing the news, retiring to her room to mourn over the loss. She was seen several hours later exiting, wiping away tears. She released a statement,

"I have mourned for my husband, but right now. I want to find who did this so we can repay them in kind. The Kim Dynasty will NOT be disrespected like this!"

The Imperial Commissars were reportedly scrambling to find the culprit to please the Emperor.

Supreme Emperor Kim Jong-Un rebukes Japanese Culture

Japanese Culture Minister warns over foreign acquisition of Japanese animation studios during interview

Tokyo (KN): Japan's Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Kōichi Hagiuda warned on Monday that Japan's animation studios were in danger of being acquired by foreign interests during an interview with Kyodo News. Mr. Kōichi, who has been a vocal supporter of protecting Japanese culture and traditions from foreign meddling raised a red flag over the planned acquisition of several Japanese animation studios by American anime licensing company, Funimation. During the interview, Mr. Kōichi emphasized the need for Japan's Government to take a more active role in protecting Japan's culture and traditions. In late 2019, Mr. Kōichi introduced reforms to the education system and new textbooks for schools which focused on teaching Japanese history, traditions, customs and culture. Mr. Kōichi has also been at the forefront of several conservation efforts which seek to promote and showcase Japan's ancient history.

In the interview, Mr. Kōichi warned against companies like Funimation which, "Seek to make one of Japan's most important cultural export into a corporate clean product." He went on to say that Funimation would "destroy the reputation of Japanese animation studios by transforming material into corporate products that appeal to everyone." Mr. Kōichi added that the effects could already be seen, with the prevalence of foreign media companies "using and abusing" Japanese culture for their own gain. He labeled the corporations as "ignorant" and expressed his deep disapproval of Funimation, who he labeled as "insensitive."

Supreme Emperor Kim Jong-Un has recently expressed his sharp disapproval for Japanese Culture. Remarking,

"Japanese culture? I forgot they had one. Or rather no, they don't have a culture in the sense of the enlightenment or such. They are simply a culture of barbarians akin to the Mongols. Just like the Mongols, once their Empire collapsed. They retreated into their Nation & have decided to remain within their hole of weakness. The Japanese share many similarities to the Mongols, except the Mongols had impressive military force behind them. The Japanese simply had speed & disorganized, weak enemies against them. But they wish to protect their culture? HA! They can protect it while the Americans continue to keep them on a leash like the dogs they are"

After this Supreme Emperor Kim Jong-Un decreed that Anime would be allowed. Albeit it would be controlled by the State & broadcasted to children in controlled segments. The shows for such would be tightly controlled in both narrative & design. The first showing set to be broadcasted will feature a brand new Anime: "The Foreign Berskers".

The story behind it will be portraying an unnamed group of foreigners pillaging North Korea & bringing nothing but chaos & trouble for the citizenry. The foreigners would, at times, seem almost like downright beasts or savages. A flag that seemed almost identical to the Japanese flag would be associated with such foreigners. Naturally, many in North Korea consider the foreigners to be a reference to the Japanese & their pillage of Korea & Asia in general.

Although there has been some backlash to the change. Some, especially the Imperial Youth Cadets, have been receptive to it. Stating,

"This will usher in a glorious new age of propaganda for the Korean people. Through this fun media, we will see the Youth become more vested with our values even into adulthood"

Protests spread to multiple cities

Thousands of people march along the al-Wahda Street, located in the center of Khinassr, chanting slogans and waving banners with slogans directed at the government. Protests against the government are not that unusual in and of itself within Sahuria, however Khinassr is known for being a stronghold of pro-government sentiment. It is the city from which the revolution in 19991, led by Nasser al-Hasshem began.

Most of the protesters were students and younger people, though the marginalised pro-opposition supporters had also taken part in this specific march in Khinassr. The Sahurian "People's Party for Reform" (PPR)2 had advertised the event in social media, and Kamel Abdul al-Malik, the head of the local PPR office also took part in the march.

The march was however, stopped by the authorities and dispersed with force after it had left the center of the city and the sight of the foreign journalists interested in it. The Sahurian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR)3 reports that at least twenty people were arrested and dozens wounded in the crackdown by the police.

Other cities where protests have been held for the first time in the last week include both Abesslim, the main cargo port of The Islamic Republic of Sahuria on the Mediterranean coast, and Qashqat, a medium sized city near the Assad Lake and a crucial transport link between the Eastern and Western parts of the country.

The protests began almost a month ago when the Sahurian "General Intelligence Directorate" (GID)4 or as it is more commonly known, the Mukhabarat5, was proven to have abducted Ahmed Ali al-Khattab, a 16 year old boy, and brutally tortured him to death in the capital city of Al-Qaitabh. While the initial goal of the protests were to get political prisoners released and hold the government accountable, they have since grown to call for a change in both social and economic policies, as well as removing corruption and strengthening democracy in the country.

Neither the President nor the Prime Minister have commented on the ongoing protests or implemented any changes due to them so far.

Turkey hosts Sahurian opposition parties in Ankara

Leaders and notables from all of the Sahurian opposition parties, as well as many humanitarian organisations, have been hosted by the government of The Turkish-State in Ankara this last weekend. The summit is meant to be the first of many held in The Turkish-State, as large meetings such as this one are easier to hold abroad than within Sahuria, due to laws that severly limit the freedom of association.

Faiq Nidal, leader of the People's Party for Reform2
Mahmoud al-Sallabi, leader of the Homeland Party6
Zaynab al-Hasshem7, estranged daughter of President Nasser al-Hasshem and founder of the al-Amal Foundation
Meryem Kobani, leader of the Democratic Party of Kurdistan8
Abbas al-Hamawi, chairperson of the Sahurian Observatory for Human Rights3
Syed Qadiri, the Minister of Economy who resigned in 2019 due to "unsustainable economic policies"

President Meral Akşener of The Turkish-State inaugurated the summit with a speech, saying that it wanted what the people of Sahuria want: stability and democracy. She stressed that the recent allegations of human rights violations and abductions by the GID4 are very worrying signs, and urged the leadership to investigate these concerns. Faiq Nidal, the leader of the PPR2 voiced similar concerns, and outlined some of the reforms he had been fighting for previously:

"The middle east has no shortage of martyrs, that is certain. But what we need now are engineers, scholars, teachers, statesmen, and advisors more than ever. Spending millions upon millions on the numerous military and security apparatuses that the state has impedes our growth and unity. A sustainable and stable state does not consider it's own people as threats to the state!"

During the meeting, the groups agreed to all become members of a loose umbrella organisation called the Sahurian National Opposition Front (SNOF), aimed at uniting the opposition groups behind agreed-upon demands for the government and becoming the voice for the ongoing protests in Sahuria. Currently, the protests are quite disorganised and without clear demands, so the idea of the SNOF is to provide the protests with clear and concise demands. These demands, as lined during the summit, are:

    1. Release of all political prisoners.
    2. Allowing and holding free and fair elections, observed by foreign countries.
    3. Reaffirming full universal suffrage for Sahurian citizens, as is enshrined in the constitution
    4. Appointing a transparent and fair commission to investigate the extrajudicial use of force by the police and the Islamic Revolutionary Fedayeen
    5. Providing transparency and oversight in to the activities of the General Intelligence Directorate

The SNOF also agreed upon some unified symbolism, choosing to begin flying a Sahurian tricolor with six red stars; each representing one of the major ethnic groups that inhabit the country: Arab, Kurd, Alawite, Maronite / Phoenician, Assyrian and Druze.

1 - in 1999, a number of Shia-led groups, supported by Afsharid Persia began an organized civil war against the Muslim Brotherhood government. The largest of these groups were the Sahurian Popular Liberation Front (SPLF), which was led by the current President of the Islamic Republic, Nasser al-Hasshem. After two years of fierce fighting, the government would be toppled and a new, Shia-led government was set up.

2 - The PPR is the largest and most popular opposition party, though it still only has a popularity percentage of about ~8%. It's current leader, Faiq Nidal, has been living abroad in The Republic of The Turkish-State for the last months, due to fears the government might arrest him because of the current protests.

3 - The SOHR is an organization headquartered in London, Greater britanniya, that reports on human rights issues within Sahuria. It has a large network of people inside Sahuria that compile human rights abuses into monthly reports as well as post them on their social media accounts. It's current chairperson is Abbas al-Hamawi, who has been imprisoned numerous time by the Sahurian government.

4 - The GID handles the internal, domestic, and signals intelligence of The Islamic Republic of Sahuria. Information about it is very sparse, but Afsharid Persia thoroughly helped Sahuria set it up in 2001, and thus retains a large influence within it. They are suspected to have carried out numerous assassinations and abductions within the country, and they operate the infamous Saydnayah prison - known for it's extrajudicial killings and brutal torture.

5 - Mukhabarat is the Arabic word for 'Intelligence'

6 - The Homeland Party advocates turning the country of Sahuria into a well-functioning federal democratic republic. It has managed to operate within the country without much interference from the central government, which makes some view it with suspicion. Nevertheless, it has supported the ongoing protests and encouraged it's supporters to go out onto the streets.

7 - Zaynab al-Hasshem became estranged from his father, President Nasser al-Hasshem, sometime in the late 2000s. Diplomatic cables that were leaked in 2010 indicate she had had numerous arguments with his father, sometime in public. This all culminated in her moving to Washington, The united provinces of america, though the specifics on this are not know, and she has herself been tight-lipped about it. She now spends most of her time managing the Al-Amal Foundation, which focuses on funding projects aimed at poverty alleviation, disaster relief, interfaith dialogue and women's empowerment.

8 - The Democratic Party of Kurdistan is the main opposition party in Sahurian Kurdistan. It is lead by Meryem Kobani, who just last year lost the Presidential Elections against Ferhad Laylani - the candidate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. Many people living in Kurdistan believe the elections to have been influenced by the central government, and Ferhad Laylani is largely seen as Nasser al-Hasshem's puppet in the autonomous region.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY VOTES TO FINISH STATE OF EMERGENCY ON MAY 12TH

After a letting a tense debate to break between DS and SDP MPs over the subject of the government's measures efficiency and legality of the way in which state of emergency has been imposed on March 15th, Speaker of the National Assembly Đorđe Vukadinović has finally called for a vote on the subject of finishing the state of emergency on May 12th, as the government has proposed. Final results of the vote were:

Yay - 150 MPs
Nay - 0 MPs
Abstain - 0 MPs
Non-present - 100 MPs

Once again, DS and SDP have previously agreed to leave 50 MPs per party out of the chamber due to safety measures. Of all the remaining MPs, everyone has voted in favor of the governments motion. Leader of the Opposition Saša Janković, although being very critical towards the way that state of emergency was imposed in March without National Assembly vote, said that his party will certainly take part in moving towards an end of this terrible period. However, no matter how sounding his message was, one must spot that this is a large change in his previous position, when he said that he's not interested in today's vote because state of emergency is illegal, so his decision to support the motion comes as a big victory for the government.

Now ball is on terrain of President Konstantinović, who's expected to put his signature on the end of the state of emergency, fourth in modern political history of Serbia. Although he has a right to veto this proposal, that possibility will likely not happen due to him sending vibes for weeks that he would like to finish state of emergency as soon as experts find it possible. No constitutional crisis is expected on this particular subject.

Sick, Sick People

Jae-hyun slumped forward, his head hitting the bar counter with a cold jolt. It startled him back to reality. He glanced at the screen of his phone, his eyes landing on the messy and grammatically atrocious fanfiction that had been written about him and Se-jun. His hyung was dead, and some hormonal teenager had just made his life a smut fiction. He felt someone sit down in the stool next to him. He looked up, taking a gulp of Soju and refilling the small cup. That's when he dropped it. There was a very, VERY old man sitting next to him. Making eyes at him.

He rolled his eyes just a little too dramatically--he was a little drunk. "Whatevveerrr you want," Jae-hyun slurred, "it's not gonna happen."

He knew he wasn't supposed to be in these kinds of clubs, but it wasn't like this was one of the raunchy dens. It was just a bar, and his secret wasn’t a secret anymore.

"Can I buy you a drink?" the man asked, his breath smelling like peanuts. Jae-hyun wrinkled his nose.

"No. No, no, no. . . NO." He shook his head vigorously. "I'm good," he finished, taking another swig of Soju.

"WHAT THE HELL?" Jae-hyun shouted, accidentally flinging his glass over the counter and causing it to shatter on the floor. A wrinkly hand was resting on his knee.

"Let me buy you a drink."
"Mr., I don't know who you think you are, but--"
"He's taken," said a third voice.

The two looked to the new comer, a tall short haired man with a slightly annoyed looking expression. "Who the fuk are you?" said Shriveled Man. Tall Guy shrugged. "His boyfriend." At this, Shriveled Man frowned. He stood up and hobbled away, the smell of tacky cologne hovering behind him.

Tall Man took the seat while Jae-hyun examined his bottle of Soju before taking a swig straight from the bottle.

"Are you sure you should drink that much?" he asked, glancing at Jae-hyun with an amused smirk.
"So now you're trying to sleep with me too?"
"What?! No--I--no."
"So what do you want, then? Is it a selfie? I'm not in the mood."

"Sorry... what?"

Jae-hyun glanced at Tall Man, who seemed genuinely confused. Had this guy never seen any of his movies before?

"Never mind."
"Look, maybe stop drinking so much--"
he moved to grab the bottle. Jae-hyun spun around in his stool in an attempt to protect his drink, but he fell out of the stool and into a puddle on the floor. When he finally stood up, everything was spinning. "I am very drunk," he declared.

In the vast plain of the necropoles of the Imperial Dynasty, there lay the tomb of the former Emperor. A strong relief contained a symbolic message, asking for “a greater nation”, led up to a sacrificial hall. A carving depicted a Phoenix above a dragon, symbolising the Emperor’s might and power over all else.

The elaborate death ritual was a means to prevent disorder after the death of a hierarchical family member. In the performance of the death rites, each family’s members had a defined position, and the family structure was maintained. The new monarch performed the death rites in filial respect for the former monarch, affirming loyalty to the state and family. The rites reinforced a reign’s legitimacy, emphasising a monarch’s role in the royal family.

The late Emperor’s death rites were elaborate.

A black pearl was placed into the late Emperor’s mouth, which was meant to slow decomposition. It followed a tradition which stipulated that the soul of the dead might find an intact body for revival. The day after the death, the corpse would be placed in a wooden coffin, specially crafted from Yunnan, between the hours of 7 and 9 AM. The coffin, which was made from a wood known for its pleasant smell, would also be accompanied with articles of clothing, jewels, and treasures. Personal presents were also given from dignitaries across the nation. Cumulatively, the coffin’s contents were worth 50 million taels of silver, or $1 billion dollars.

The coffin was placed back in the Palace of Heavenly Purity. The Board of Rites submitted organisational prescriptions for the ceremony, wherein mourning would be observed for 27 days. In that period, all signed documents, decrees, and other written pieces from the Imperial offices used a blue seal instead of the official red one. Higher ranking officials and members of the Royal Family observed this period for 100 days. A less intensive period of mourning would then be observed for 27 months after that. Across the nation, it would be forbidden to shave, play music, and enter arcades or cinemas for 100 days. There was a 1 month ban on marriage. For members of the royal family, this extended to 27 months. Officials of the third rank had it extended to a year. Festivities and music were banned for 100 days to 1 year.

All the officials and princes in the Imperial Court assembled three times a day before a libations altar, after the transfer of the coffin to the Jingshan Park. 50 coats of lacquer were applied to the coffin. This happened daily, until the coffin was finally placed into the cemetery. The libations occurred from 7-9AM, 11AM-1PM, and 3-5PM. On these occasions, possessions of the late monarch were burnt, with clothes, furniture, utensils, paper money, weapons, all of which one might need in the afterlife. There were also special sacrifices that were held - including the Great Libation, the First Sacrifice, the Grand Sacrifice, the Monthly Ceremony, and the Hundred Days Ceremony. The last sacrifice terminated the period of public mourning.

Princesses and ladies of the court did the same for a period of 3 days, and then only once until the “First Sacrifice”. Sexual and dietary abstinence was practiced for 27 days for members of the court. Personal condolences were frowned upon in front of the coffin.

When the coffin was placed into the Imperial tombs and finally entombed, a Farewell Libation was held the day before the funeral procession left the Forbidden City. A Food Sacrifice, Sacrifice of the Removal, and the Sacrifice of Repose would be held as well to mark the end of funeral rites.

In each of the sacrifices, preparations started at 5 AM. Princes and officials from the Court wailed. Prayers were read in front of the coffin, prescribed by Hanlin scholars - libation was done with 3 cups of wine. The female members of the court would then offer another 3 cups. The ceremonies would finish off when the offerings were burnt.

When the funeral procession left the Forbidden City, it was to entomb the late leader. The Board of Works ordered all roads in the Imperial Capital to be repaired, with night accommodations chartered by the government. The procession took 5 days to reach the Imperial cemetery, and 3 specially made catafalques were prepared. One had 32 porters, the second one had 84, and the last one had 128. 7,920 porters were recruited from the capital to walk through the 135km-long procession route in 60 stages, eventually terminating at the Eastern Tombs.

Outside the Xizhimen, some members of the fire brigade were on standby. Precautions were taken to ensure order within the city; the Board of Justice deployed a force of 900 armed policemen along the route of the funeral procession between the Donghuamen and Dongzhimen. Doorways, intersections, and open spaces were guarded by soldiers. Doors and windows along the route of the procession were closed and locked, while mounted Imperial guards were called in.

The coffin was wrapped in silk and felt, and then mounted onto the mid-sized, 84-porter catafalque. The procession brought it to through the Ningshoumen, Huangjimen, Yiqingmen and Donghuamen, then reaching the Di'anmen. It later turned east, leaving the city through the Dongzhimen near the Drum Tower. Once it left the walled section of the capital, the coffin was transferred to the large 128-porter catafalque, and the procession proceeded. Ceremonial cavalry guards rode behind the coffin, tailed by camels. The camels were followed by a procession of Buddhist chatra umbrellas, which would be burned when the body was finally entombed. Lamas from Xizang, such as the Karmapa, followed the waving umbrellas, and after them a contingent bearing sacrificial vessels, Buddhist symbols, and banners.

As the procession passed through gates or bridges, the daily libations were continued in front of the coffin, as it made its way to the ceremony. Officials from local vicinities assembled along the routes, typically on the right side, giving off a mourning wail when the catafalque passed.

Once the coffin was brought to the tombs, it was entombed. At the hours of 3-5AM, the name tablet and seal of the late Emperor were placed onto the Dias within the burial chamber. A ‘treasure well’ was excavated in 7-9AM, and filled with ‘auspicious earth’. The coffin would then be placed in the excavated well in 9-11AM, and following that, the stone doors would be closed and sealed.

It was strictly forbidden to take photographs of the funeral ceremonies.

A variety of foreign representatives were invited to the Hall of Great Supremacy for a visit of condolence, and perform libation ceremonies - as well as the new Empress' public enthronement ceremony:

Plane shot down over Taiwan Strait's identity revealed

    -----------------------------

After the recent identification of the Korean plane which was downed over the Taiwanese Strait. The Imperial Commissars were frantic in their pursuit for the culprits behind such an act of terror against the Korean State. Fortunately, they have begun pursuing leads which may implicate the Korean People's Party & the Republican Tongmenghui Party. An officer in the group gave the following statement,

"We cannot be certain at this time who carried out such a heinous act. However, we can reasonably say that our current evidence points towards the KPP & Tongmenghui Party. Both parties have a history of opposing our rule & being against our ideas. Regardless, this is an act that should not & will not go unpunished by the Supreme Emperor. Once we prove the guilt of these beasts, I look forward to letting these criminals face justice!"

The leads provoked outrage in Korea as many considered the KPP & Tongmenghui guilty already. Some called for them to be tracked down, captured, & tortured to death. Others called for public justice. The sentiment of anger was prevalent amongst many.

The Kim Dynasty agrees to a Summit in Paris

Supreme Emperor Kim Jong-Un recently made it known that the Kim Dynasty would be attending a Summit in Paris with the South Koreans, Americans, & Confederates. He did not release the reason. Nonetheless, he gave the following statement:

"This Summit will be a historical event. Meeting with the American President so soon after the Korean Summit. This will be another essential step in possibly ending the War for Unification & bringing eternal peace & bliss upon the Korean Peninsula. I do not doubt Confederate President Jackson was essential in such a development. Due to his visit here & statement of support.

Nonetheless, we will attend & see what we can achieve. No longer will Korea be a hermit kingdom, we have shown that we are not an aggressive, warmongering Nation anymore. We wish to embark on a path of international peace & friendship. So that one day, our people may be united once again.

If the Koreans or Americans wish to do otherwise, that will be on them. But let it be known that I, Supreme Emperor Kim Jong-Un, wish for peace & cooperation"

Wise words by the Supreme Emperor. Many Koreans came out to celebrate in Pyongyang. Many waved the Korean flag & praised the Supreme Emperor for his "Divine Wisdom" in securing such a meeting. The Imperial Peasant Guards came out in force to demonstrate their approval & love for the Supreme Emperor & Korea (North Korea).

Pyongyang prepares for tourism & commercial boom

Due to the recent legislation enacted in the Confederate States which permitted Confederate Companies to do business in North Korea under the umbrella of the APEX corporation. Many citizens have been notified of an impending commercial boom. Coinciding with this, Confederate Airlines, in cooperation with APEX, will offer flights from HLJ International Airport in Atlanta to Sunan International Airport in Pyongyang. Many citizens have been notified so as to prepare for the predicted boom of commercial & tourist activity to come. Naturally, several tools to manage such events have been prepared. Imperial Commissars have been prepared to serve as tour guides for tourists. Starting off, the Commissars will inform the tourists of all the rules & guidelines that must be abided by while in Korea. It will be made strictly clear that any who break laws in Korea WILL be punished to the full extent of Korean law.

Nonetheless, the Commissars will then guide the tourists throughout the city. Freetime will be permitted for a very small window & will be heavily monitored & regulated.

Many in the area look forward to the incoming wealth to come that will boost Korean income & encourage a wealth surplus in the Capital.

    Government Reprisals
The PNM government under Biryar Niyat faces the greatest crisis in Basurwelat's history. Much of the country, including Dohuk and towns in the mountainous regions, are under direct YPG control, and those areas that aren't are paralysed with protests. The government's only real support base is in the middle class city of Sulaymaniah, as well as some of the more affluent Erbil suburbs, and some agricultural areas controlled by hardline Kurdish nationalist militias. Faced with this crisis Niyat has begun a brutal campaign to reassert authority.

    Bamarni
The first hint of danger was the sound of helicopters arriving from the east, heralding an assault by air. In the small town of Bamarni near Dohuk, the citizens were sprung into action. Men and women alike sprinted for the local YPG field HQ close by the local primary school, rushing to grab weapons whilst children eagerly pointed at the five western-made helicopters cutting through the noise of peaceful Kurdish life. The piercing sound of rifle fire shattered the illusion of safety as children began to scream and run. Communist guerrillas hurriedly set up sandbag encampments whilst the ordinary folk of Bamarni crouched with their weapons behind walls and began to fire aimlessly at the incoming helicopters. Then chaos struck as two deafening explosions ripped through the market. The eastern flank walls of the local mosque began to crumble, falling away under their own weight and finding there was no stone below to support their drop. All around there was utter destruction. People, whether they were in YPG uniforms or not, were lying coughing in their own blood, and they were the lucky ones. Then the machine guns of the Apache helicopters ripped through the survivors until few in the market square were left alive. Not to be taken quietly, the YPG struck back. Several DShK guns began to shoot back, without much success, but crouched survivors in the square could see a rocket, presumably from a 9K38 Igla, streak from the roof of the local bank to one of the helicopters, erupting it in a ball of flame which tumbled from the sky into a nearby house. The other Apache responded with a flurry of activity, launching two more missiles in quick succession towards the bank, utterly incinerating the top two floors of the building as rumbled crashed onto the street below.

The other three helicopters landed on the vast school playground, dust surrounding the machines as they touched down. Soldiers began to spill out of the helicopters, shooting towards the low stone building to the right of the school where the YPG ran the town. They were met with rifle fire, but within minutes the building was silenced. Meanwhile, in the town square Colonel Gokalp had set up a video camera, taking in the entire view of the desolated market. The soldiers had dragged every surviving man, woman and child from the town centre into the square and had them kneel before the Colonel. In front of the camera Gokalp began to speak, "on the orders of President Niyat and the glory of Kurdistan, we will not rest until every communist dog lies on the earth, soaked in their own blood." Then the soldiers began to fire for around thirty seconds, until the screams had stopped and there was only a deep silence.

After a short period of fighting the far more numerous YPG fighters and local militia eventually forced the government forces to retreat back into their helicopters. But when they reached the town centre they had to come to terms with the appalling scene lying before them. The video, shared by the government itself on YouTube, has left many on the moderate left wondering whether the fight against the government is worth it, having been confronted with the lengths to which Niyat and the nationalists are prepared to go. Asan Hardi dubbed it 'The Rape of Bamarni'.

Meanwhile in retaliation the YPG reportedly sent a captured mail truck full of the bodies of captured soldiers in Dohuk directly to the Presidential Palace, promising more would be sent if the events in Bamarni were repeated. A group of nationalist militiamen were also lynched by a mob near Kirkuk. The war for Basurwelat is heating up, and many fear this is just the start of escalating extreme violence.

South Korea Welcomes Serbian Prime Minister Balša Božović, Foreign Minister Hana Adrović (Dvaistic republic of serbia), VP Yavas (The Turkish-State)

Prime Minister Božović was welcomed in Seoul by President Kim Hee-jung today, arriving at the Blue House to the traditionally dressed Korean honor guard, dawning their ceremonial and vibrant robes. The two leaders then held a press conference, where the Prime Minister encouraged Korea and Japan to continue a positive dialogue, showing support for the upcoming conference in Guam.

"Let me first say how glad I am that both European states and our partners from the other side of the Atlantic are paying more attention to this part of the world, the development of which I am personally impressed by. Steps taken by our allies UPA, CSA and France in regards to South Korean and North Korean as well as to South Korean and Japanese relations are the beginning of a new and important chapter in history and diplomacy for Asia. I believe that I speak on behalf of the whole of NATO when I say that we believe all issues could be resolved only when diplomats of all involved sides sit and talk to each other, coming together to make compromises. Upcoming talks in Guam and Paris are a great opportunity for this, and let me be one to encourage you personally to do as much as you can for your people and for stable peace in this region."

The President delivered her own address, saying that Serbia was "a model of social progression" and that Korean industries should cooperate with the many skilled and self-employed workers in Serbia, who are already doing amazing work, and could do so much more with the support that can be given to them by companies.

Foreign Minister Hana Adrović's Speech to the Society for LGBTQ Equality

A topic of great importance recently is same-sex marriage in South Korea. Even the President has finally started taking serious action on the topic, openly criticizing the military for it's homophobia towards gay soldiers. Hana Adrović, Serbia's first openly lesbian Foreign Minister, spoke to the Society for LGBTQ Equality, a queer rights group based out of Seoul.

"I want to thank you for inviting me to address your amazing Society here today, especially in the light of latest events that took place here in South Korea on the field of LGBTQ rights. Some of you might know me as the first female, youngest ever, and first openly LGBTQ Foreign Minister that Serbia has had. My election to this post has been of great importance for the voice of our community to be heard in Serbia, where inequalities on the field of sexual minorities' human rights have existed even after we've legalized non-heterosexual marriages.

"Last year I was a face of the campaign #Outside_my_four_walls, where we campaigned against the argument that LGBTQ people should have right to do whatever they want inside the four walls of their homes but not in public. We've managed to gather more than 20 thousand people on our marches in Belgrade, coming not just from all over Serbia, but from the whole of Europe. People often accuse us of our lobby being the strongest one in politics and that we're some sort of conspiracy. I was surrounded with such accusations since the moment I decided to come out publicly and marry my beautiful wife Ayla-ah Kim, who's ancestors lived in your beautiful homeland of South Korea. In our joint campaign, we've raised concerns to the European institutions and managed to pass the law guaranteeing us a right to express our choice freely and publicly. Therefore, my message today for your community is - feel free to express yourselves and commit to fight for what you truly believe in, because if you don't fight for your own rights no one else will. In our campaign, I've learned that hardest part is to make your followers finally stop fearing the violence and arrests. But after you do that in a creative way, you can do everything.

"I want once again to thank you all for listening to me today and I want to wish you all the best in future, and don't give up now when it matters."

The message comes shortly after a scandal which rocked the nation came to late, as famed singer Jeong Seo-jun committed suicide after facing discrimination at his job. It was also discovered Jeong was in a relationship with another famous personality, actor Park Jae-hyun. Park recently came out as gay on social media, thanking the fans who have stood by him through this difficult time.

    2020 Presidential Debate

Lester Holt: "Good Evening and welcome from the Boston University, President Abraham Lincoln Auditorium, Massachusetts. I'm Lester Holt, and this is the first All-Candidates debate of the 2020 Presidential Election. Tonight's debate stage will play host to Progressive Conservative Candidate, and incumbent President Robert Bowman, Liberal Party Candidate and Senator Kamala Harris, Democratic Alliance Candidate, and House Representative Tulsi Gabbard, and Bloc Québécois Candidate, and House Representative Yves-François Blanchet. This event is sponsored by MSNBC, and we have designed a format that we believe will allow candidates to voice their positions on the issues that matter, as well as allow for other candidates to respond or provide countering view points. The debate will consist mostly of questions from myself the debate moderator, but towards the end of the night we will be accepting questions from our viewers at home via Twitter. A couple of simple rules for out candidates, Do not speak over your fellow candidates, do not interrupt your fellow candidates, and please be respectful. For our small, socially distanced audience please keep the noise to a minimum, the hall should remain silent, keep any boos, cheers, or negative comments to yourselves, and please hold all applause until the end. Now, lets begin with opening statements beginning with President Bowman."

Bowman: "Well I'd like to open by thanking all of the supporters across the 49 Provinces that have brought me and our movement this far. We have accomplished so much in these last four years, but we have much more left to accomplish. Over the last four years I have accomplished feats no other President has accomplished, I repealed and replaced the failed Obama Care with a system that respects the sovereignty of the Provinces, and the freedom of the individual. We brought in a reformed tax system that shifted the burden of taxation from the average American to those wealthy Americans and major corporations that can afford to pay more. And I brought in a plan for the Environment that focuses on areas of Climate Change where America can really make a difference. If re-elected as President, I will continue to work on issues like these that matter to each and every America, beginning with Vice President Yang's hallmark project, the Freedom Dividend, to help those among us struggling the most. This government For and by the People will achieve greatly."

Harris: "This Conservative government has failed Americans, and has failed America. Its an uncomfortable truth that many Americans have to hear, President Bowman for all of his good intentions has failed Americans. The repealing of Obama Care has left millions of Americans without health care coverage, his tax reforms have allowed millionaires and billionaires to move their fortunes outside of America to avoid paying their fair share of taxes, his policies on the environment and climate change have allowed companies and big polluters to continue and expand pollution in the United Provinces, and he has lead the most dramatic shift towards hawkish foreign policy this nation has seen since the Bush administration. I've opened with this not to take cheap jabs at the President, or his administration, I'm opening with this because we can do better, America can do better, we can harness the the collective ingenuity and innovation that has driven America over the past 240 years, and put it towards bringing America into the future, we can put it towards Medicare for all, Amnesty for DACA Children, a living wage for all Americans. These things are within our reach, and I'm the women to lead us there."

Blanchet: "The people of the country, gens du pays, this has been the battle cry of us Québécois has been since day one. The Bloc offers our people a chance of representation in an America that continues to have its minorities crushed under the majority. We must stop playing this complicated game of chess, and work to make our country work for everyone. That is before it gets torn apart by the forced sameness of the insiders who are running our nation into the ground. No wonder these same insiders 150 years ago lost the South, yet they continue to create an America that will be destroyed by its minorities rising to arms after centuries of abuse from the insiders, and the elite."

Gabbard: "I stand on this stage tonight to offer Americans a renewed hope for the future of our great nation. A future based upon the principles of Liberty, Limited Government, and independence. And incorporating the modern ideals of equity, social justice, feminism, and fairness for all Americans, be they women, minorities, undocumented immigrants, or Americans of the LGBT Community. Together, with your support I will build a movement for all peoples within these United Provinces."

Lester Holt: "Now with the opening statements out of the way, lets move into the first round of questions. The first question of the evening goes to Representative Gabbard." [He glances down at a cue card] "You once criticized several people between 2013 and 2017, for "refusing" to say that the "real enemy" of the United Provinces is "radical Islam" or "Islamic extremism". What will be your policy on Islam and Muslim immigration?"

Gabbard: "Thank you for the question Lester, and I'll start by stating I stand by my previous comments. Radicalism as a whole is the real enemy of America, be it radical Islam, white supremacy, or fascism. We as Americans cannot abide or support radicalism in any form plane and simple. As for the second part of the question, religion will simply not be a factor in the immigration process under my presidency. Factoring in the region of immigrants to the United Provinces is wholly un-American.

Lester Holt: "Thank you representative Gabbard, the next question is for President Bowman. Mr. President you are said to be a supporter of increased UPA oil production, believing it generates Ethical and more Environmentally Friendly Energy. Can you elaborate on that? Isn't the consumption of oil in of itself not an environmentally friendly option?"

Bowman: "Of course Lester. I'm for American jobs and energy first and foremost, keeping American lights on and homes heated is a priority of mine, and should be priority of all elected officials. Now the fact of the matter is that oil isn't goin' anywhere anytime soon, and that oil produced in Alberta, Alaska, California, and Newfoundland is produced with more stringent environmental regulations. And produced by employees paid a fair wage for their work."

Harris: "Lester, if I might interject for a moment. I would like to point out that the world is in a state of Climate Emergency, and we have a President focused more on ramping up production for multi-billion dollar companies, rather than tackling the challenges facing our climate."

    Lester Holt: "Alright Senator Harr......"

Bowman: "Now Senator Harris, that is a baseless claim. Under my guidance and leadership the Progressive Conservatives have passed landmark legislation geared towards expanding federal investment into Green Energy and Protection of the Environment."

Lester Holt: "Thank you Mr. President and Senator Harris for that lively exchange. The next question is for you Senator Harris, during your tenure as San Francisco's district attorney, you formed a special Hate Crimes Unit focusing on hate crimes against LGBT children and teens in schools. Will your presidency include a similar unit? If so, how would you define a hate crime against such groups, and how will you enforce it in a way that will appease more traditionalist, conservative voters?"

Harris: "That's an excellent question Lester, I take great pride in the work I accomplished as the San Francisco DA. Under my Presidency, I aim to explore establishing Hate Crime Investigation Unit to be part of the FBI, and I will work with our nations foremost legal experts, members of the LGBT Community, and representatives other communities to set out and establish to priorities of enforcement for this unit."

Blanchet: "Typical Liberal, high minded proposals with no plan for implementation. Madame Harris is quick to declare she will defend minorities in America from hate crimes, but will just a quickly ignore the plees of my Quebecois countrymen. Who suffer under the boot of American oppression, and are regular victims of hate crimes outside of Quebec."

Lester Holt: "Mr. Blanchet, while we've got you talking, Your parties official position on Quebec's place in the Union is that it should separate and become an independent nation. If elected President will you call for another Quebec Independence Referendum?"

Blanchet: "Of course their is no question, I am a patriot of the Quebec nation if elected I will immediately call for a referendum on Independence and free Quebec and it's people from the Union."

Lester Holt: "Follow up question, the last two referendums on Quebec's independence have failed, don't you thinl the matter of independence as been resolved? The Quebecois wish to remain in the Union."

Blanchet: "The last referendum was lost by only 0.5 percent of the vote, the drive for the Quebecois to be free of the Union exists, it has just never been the right climate or leader to bring us our freedom, now is the time, and I am the leader."

Lester Holt: "Now, lets move on to some general questions that are on the minds of many Americans during this election cycle. beginning with Electoral Reform. It's apparent that electoral reform is needed in this day and age. What would be your official policy on electoral reform? How will you make it more democratic? Beginning with President Bowman"

Bowman: "Electoral reform is a staple of my re-election platform, I want to see our system reformed to better reflect the views of our diverse population. In order to ensure our electoral system adequate represents our people and their views I will hold a referendum on electoral reform before the end of the first 100 days of my new term. And I will be proposing a System I call, the American Representation System for House Elections."

Lester Holt: "Thank you Mr. President, Representative Gabbard same question."

Gabbard: "Thank you Lester, quite frankly my record speaks for itself. I'm one of the most bipartisan members of the House. I supported the Progressive Conservatives in their House Committee work on the "American Representation System". If elected to office I will continue that bipartisanship by pledging to implement that system that both President Bowman and I have worked on."

Lester Holt: "Alright Candidates, I will be asking the final two questions of this round to President Bowman, Senator Harris, and Mr. Blanchet before we move into questions from folks back at home. President Bowman and Senator Harris what will do to increase healthcare coverage across this country, especially among rural populations?"

Harris: "Well I believe Americans need a real answer to the Healthcare crisis in this nation. If elected President, I would re-introduce Obamacare the only healthcare reform to have been implemented and proven effective in recent years. Secondly, I would assembly a Presidential Committee on Health Reform made up of medical experts, policy experts, and members of the House and Senate to be established within my first 100 days in office. This committee would work to set out the most feasible and cst effective way to provide Medicare to all Americans, because not one person in this great country should have to bear the burden of debt related to hospital fees or deal with friends and families dying do to lack of affordable healthcare."

Bowman: "America, under my leadership is already on track to expand healthcare coverage for all Americans, under the American Health Act, my Administrations replacement to Obamacare. The American Health Act is already yielding positive results in the Provinces that have implemented it on a trial basis, and its worth noting one of those Provinces is Senator Harris's home Province of California. Now I know its not what Senator Harris wants to hear that a system geared towards preserving Federalism and the Provinces role in its healthcare system, but its a system that is proving to work and a system this nation needs. Secondly, I'd like to highlight my pledge to implement the Freedom Dividend, a program that would provide each and every American over the age of 18 with $1,000 that many Americans will use for the important things in their live like access to Health and Pharma care."

Lester Holt: "Representative Blanchet and Senator Harris, the final question is for you. What will be your policy on Russia, with regards to the Ukraine conflict? Will the UPA under your leadership seek a more aggressive style of diplomacy, or will the UPA be willing to negotiate considerately?"

Blanchet: "Well Lester, should I be elected President and Quebec become an independent nation we would seek a foreign policy independent of the UPA. In regards to uh...the Russia Ukraine Conflict we would likely take a diplomatic approach in support of Ukraine, as I would view them as an oppressed minority like the Quebecois."

Harris: "I believe America needs a return to strong diplomatic global leadership. One where our President pulls the levers of Economic and Diplomatic pressure on global issues, as opposed to dropping bombs on every new problem that crops up. We need a President that's ready to stand up and say America cannot stand alone. Under my leadership, America would continue and expand its diplomatic support for Ukraine in its current civil conflict, providing aid and funding. In addition we would expand the sanctions and economic pressure on the Russian Federation for its continued support of militants in the Donbass Region."

Lester Holt: "Alright folks, we'll be taking a short break before we return for questions from folks back at home."

[Ad for the The Coca-Cola Club Cup Plays]

Lester Holt: "Welcome back to the first Presidential Debate of this 2020 election season. We will beginning the closing segment with a question from Cole McDonald (@ColeMC420) who says: President Bowman it is without a doubt that your presidency has been historic, but it has also seen the rise of the far right across North America. Specifically the Confederate States. What is your stance on thew new far right in North America, and how do you intend on protecting American values inside North America?"

Bowman: "Well Cole I thank you for the question, and your support. While Right-Wing Radicalism in America has become noticeable their is nothing to indicate it is the new rise of a movement in America, rather its a small minority of Americans feeling emboldened by the rise of right wing figures in the Americas and around the World. As for the second part of your question, I will continue to do it as I have throughout these last four years in Office, as a passionate advocate, I will continue to travel the world advocating the Liberal Democratic ideals of America anywhere that I can, I will work with congress to further fun Liberal Democratic Organizations globally, and I will continue to use Americas Military and Diplomatic influence to advance these ideals whenever I can."

Lester Holt: "Thank you Mr. President, our second question comes from Nevada Ranger (@NVRanger), and will be directed at President Bowman and Representative Gabbard. Guns are a very important subject, especially for people like me who live in rural areas and want to defend our properties from both animals and tresspassers. What will you do to protect our rights?"

Gabbard: "The right to keep and bear arms is a value as American as Apple pie, as some might say. The Democratic Alliance is committed to the protection of the rights of every single America, but we must also ensure we take the necessary steps to ensure that we protect the lives of Americans. In accordance with these values, I would work with Congress to ban accessories, such as bump stocks that allow a weapon to function as automatic, and I would work to see a Universal Background check Bill passed though Congress."

Bowman: "Well Mr. Ranger" [Visibly laughs] "I'm a supporter of our second amendment rights, in fact I'm carrying Smith & Wesson M&P Shield right now. If re-elected to the presidency, I would work with congress to establish a national Stand your Ground Law, to ensure all Americans are afforded the right to defend themselves. Secondly, I would work with congress to establish universal background checks for firearms purchases, to ensure individuals not legally permitted to own firearms are prevented from acquiring them."

Lester Holt: Final question of the evening aimed at Representative Blanchet and Senator Harris. This question comes from Julius Velarde (@JVelarde). Will you take any punitive actions against the Chinese government for their mishandling of the COVID-19 epidemic?"

Blanchet: "If I am elected President, and Quebec is made independent, I will certainly peruse action against the Zhen government. Quebec and its economy have been negatively effected by the outbreak of a virus that originated in the Zhen. They must take responsibility for their mishandling."

Harris: "Well Mr. Velarde, the world has been in a global crisis over the past 8 weeks. Now is not the time to be pointing fingers and casting blame. Now is the time for us as Americans to come together and appreciate how we've handled the situation. We have handled it well, not as well as we should have but we are at the end. Now is the time to focus on getting Americans back to work and getting the economy back on track."

Lester Holt: "Thank you Mr. Blanchet and Senator Harris. And thank all of you candidates for attending the first debate of the Presidential Election. Thank you viewers at home for tuning in and taking the first step towards an informed decision. Good Night!"

    Presidential Address

“Citizens of the Congo, I come to you today from the Kigali Convention Center, a true diamond in the rough in the Congo. I want to clear things up. Yes, I did shoot Governor Ilunga. He disregarded my issuing of the quarantine of the city of Beni under Martial Law. Instead of worrying for the people of the city and their health, to end the Ebola epidemic, he thought about himself and his political career. He called upon his troops to disregard federal orders. When I flew to Goma to help the citizens of Beni, to be on the front line, he put his militia on the tarp. I do not take threats to our country, at that point I did not see him as the governor of Buganda. I saw him as a terrorist with all too much power. I had to end him before any people were hurt by his actions. Any questions?”

“Shema Habimana, Rwandan News Agency, do you have any regrets?”

“I have no regrets other than I wish the bullet had been fatal the second it hit him.”

“Neza Jean, RTNC, what happened after you shot Ilunga?”

“We had gotten into a shootout after I had shot Ilunga. I had gotten shot in the side and the helicopter was damaged. We went down over Gishwati National Park and made our way to Kigali. When I trekked my way through the Rwandan countryside, I saw the reality at first hand. I saw people trying to make a living in a National Park. They had to cut away the forest we had promised to protect, but it isn’t their fault. It isn’t their fault that they had to flee their homes into the forest to make a life for themselves. They didn’t have the money to go anywhere else. It is our fault that 98% of those that live in our great nation are below the poverty line. It is up to the two percent of us to help our family in need. I am starting my part by changing the country for the better. I am going to make a change on the most fundamental level of this country. My government and I have been working together in the time I have been recuperating to create a new constitution. Once the constitution passes through parliament it will be implemented changing this country forever.”

“I am Dena Surima with The New Times, what are some things that can be seen in the new constitution?”

“We are creating a modern constitution. A constitution where the law is above all. Where are creating a strong rule of law where our people can really in our court system. We are not barbaric people, we must be upheld to a strict law. We need stability in order to succeed. These laws are being put in place to assure the safety and quality of life of all of our citizens. Women will see more equality and people of the same gender will have their god-given right to love each other just like any other couple does. We assure the right to become a Congolese citizen to all of those who wish for a better life. To assure that the law is followed and that another debacle doesn’t happen like the events that occurred a while ago we have created a strict outline on the powers of those who are apart of the confederacy. They will still receive the autonomy guaranteed to those who join the confederacy but there are strict measures put in place to assure the safety of all citizens of the confederacy. The only way to leave the confederacy is a two-thirds majority vote in an approved referendum. Any other way of leaving will be seen as an act of terrorism. The new constitution will be the first step of the Confederacy becoming a modern country in the world sphere.”

“Tchicanda Dwibi with the Rwanda Radio, are there any other actions you are taking to further the country to a modern country?”

“Well along with the new constitution we are in the process of creating a series of zoning laws. Our cities are all unorganized slums, I know that sounds harsh but that is the truth. Many people are going to be moved out of their homes in what areas are to become zoned for non-residential buildings. This is going to be hard for many of you, leaving the house you lived in for your entire life, but this is going to be the best for all of us in the long run. This will open areas for businesses to move in and help our community, and don’t get me wrong, we are not throwing you out on the streets. We are putting you into newly built high-density residential Chinese buildings. The zoning will happen in waves so we can handle those who are displaced by this gentrification. This will start in the capital in the downtown area of Gombe. The entire region will be designed by Japanese architecture firm Nikken Sekkei as well as the Kinshasa Airport. This includes the Palais du Peuple and Palais de la Nation, and a to be created Palais du Loi. The buildings housing all three branches of our government will be designed by Nikken Sekkei. With this big project and a new FTA with Japan, I hope that our countries can come close together.”

“Henna Dgibitovo, RTV, with all of this investment in the capital what about those who live in the other major cities across the confederation? Is this not going to create resentment as the capital gets everything new and nice while everyone else waits for the government to help bring jobs and prosperity to them?”

“We haven’t only invested in the capital. Our friends in China have invested in Cabinda, Congo, Lunda, and have created thousands of jobs across the nation by paying for us to pave our entire highway system. And the investment in the capital, it is so we can make more money to invest in other areas of the Confederacy. We need to spend money to bring in more investors so we can start making money. My number one goal is to bring stability to this country for the next government to build upon. I want to ensure that people have good-paying jobs and can put food on their table. But until then, I have to catch a flight back to Brazzaville. Thank you for your time, stay safe, and stay healthy.”

Jae-hyun had been cut off from the world for the past few days. He didn't take calls, he avoided his managers and coworkers. But he did continue to come to the bar. He looked up as the door opened, the same guy from yesterday, the tall one who got him a cab after he wasted himself, entered the noisy and busy venue.

"Why are you sitting here?" Jae-hyun asked.
"Because everywhere is full," he replied.
    "I don't know your name."
"Hi, my name's Jin-tae. Good to meet you."

"There's a free seat over there," he said, pointing to a chair next to some tipsy queens.
"I can't keep up with the drag queens. They're the life of the party. I'd lose a limb over there."

Jae-hyun scoffed, taking a sip from his drink. "Jae-hyun, my name is Jae-hyun."

    "Cool, cool."

A drag queen charged into the bar as fast as he could in a pair of heels. "Oh my--holy--" he gasped, trying to catch his breath. "TURN ON THE NEWS!" the drag queen finally shouted. The bar tender, looking confused, turned, pointing a remote at the TV, which was currently playing a baseball game. He switched to Arirang News. A muted video of the President speaking was displayed, a female commentator's voice rambling on about a new bill being introduced to the government.

"...Liberal Democratic Party Leader Han Young-min has introduced the nation's first same-sex marriage bill for a vote in the national assembly..." and the rest was drowned out as everyone in the club jumped out of their seats.

Someone expressed the feeling in the room perfectly.

National Assembly Set to Vote on Historic Same-Sex Marriage Bill on Saturday

In a historic moment for Korea, the National Assembly is confirmed to call a vote on a bill that would permit same-sex marriage for all citizens. Among other things, the bill also includes a clause specifically banning homophobia in the armed forces. While it is not law, and though no one knows if it will pass, advocacy groups across the country have already expressed their support for the Same-Sex Marriage Bill, which is being championed by the president and her Liberal Democrats.

It is hard for you to lose someone and to bear the weight of all of those that now rely on you. I went through a very similar process when my late husband passed away. I had no one who I could relate to and felt alone. I want the new Empress to know that she is not alone in what she is going through. President Kim Praises "Powerful" Show of Force at Dokdo

In a landmark exercise between the Royal Navy and ROK Navy, the two forces trained together for the first time at the island of Dokdo, only days after a smaller South Korean task group conducted projectile interception drills. This marks the second display of military power by South Korea since it's first female president took office only months ago, and these displays of strength, more common in North Korea, are usually reserved for the Armed Forces Day Parade. They have caused quite a stir in Tokyo and Philadelphia, with leaders across the world scrambling to ease the fury of an increasingly hostile Republic of Korea.

Tensions nearly came a breaking point when the President publicly backed her country's traditional enemy, the North, against Japan earlier this week. As things seem to be stabilizing ahead of a conference in Guam next week, there is an aura of mistrust between both Japan and Korea.

National Assembly Pushes Ahead to Vote on New Immigration Bill

The new and creatively named 2020 Immigration Reformation Bill is being pushed to a vote by the ruling party. The bill allocates roughly 3 billion USD to help open government insurance programs for workers particularly from the SPRT, who stand as one of the lowest-income groups in the country. Also taken into account is funding for apartment complexes sponsored by local governments and meant to be affordable for the average immigrant worker. The new bill is also designed to make the system of work visa renewal more streamlined and less troublesome for workers, allowing them to complete an online survey rather than going to the nearest immigration office.

Actor Park Jae-hyun: "I Was Hiding, and I Still Am"

After being silent for the past few days since being outed as gay, Korean actor Park Jae-hyun took to social media today, surprising the public by how quickly he's returned to the spotlight despite the suicide of his late partner, Jeong Seo-jun.

"I was hiding," Park wrote. "I still am."

The actor made a lengthy post, saying that he hadn't intended to say anything until he heard the government was going to vote on gay marriage.

"20% of the population are members of conservative Church groups. There are no laws protecting LGBTQ citizens from hate crimes." There are countless stories of discrimination in Korea, and Park said he may be blacklisted for his sexuality. But her urged activists not to give up hope. "We have never had a government like the one we have now. I believe that if we fight for our rights, we will be free--tomorrow or the day after, it will happen."

At the end of the post, Park finally came out to the public.

"It has been hard for me to say this because I have always been raised in a very conservative society that does not support me or those like me. But now I am ready to say that I am gay."

              Operation Grace
              TOP SECRET
              May 9th

Winning 2 seats in the Jackson Territory election on April the 13th, the Australian Government has recognised that Vengeance is gaining traction, either by pure fear, or by a genuine ideology. It was in Australia's interests that Vengeance ceased to exist, for good. On the fifth of April, NSA Dubbo was sunk and 22 Australians died. Ever since 1975, Vengeance has been terrorizing the lives of Australians in a failed attempt for Independence. They've been tolerated by many previous governments, but the new Morrison Government wanted them gone for good.

After 20 people were arrested with links to Vengeance on the 21st, the organisation fled to Turnagain Island, in the territory's southwest. This was the beginning of top-secret Operation Grace. Soon after, submarines NSA Collins, NSA Dechaineux, NSA Farncomb, and NSA Rankin were sent to Vasey and Turnagain Island to engage in surveillance operations. On the 9th of May, they begun attacks.

The ADF found that ships taking them to and from the mainland were large fishing vessels with limited communications, and were often carrying 30 or more people. The ADF have had their first success today, sinking one such vessel.

The ADF sent Fremantle Patrol Vessel NSA Kingsland to 'intercept' the fishing vessel, diverting it further from the mainland, into the Gulf of Jackson, before being torpedoed by awaiting Collins-class submarine NSA Farncomb. The vessel, with 30 terrorists on board, were then left to drown in the Gulf.

This operation has remained top secret.

Army day parade: 196 year anniversary
    serving the country since 1824
Today the Central American National Army celebrated its 196th anniversary of its foundation with a military parade that toured Federation Avenue in Guatemala City.

More than 5 thousand troops and various vehicles from the Central American National Army took part of the parade which began at the San Pablo II monument, marching through Federation Avenue to finally conclude at the Ministry of the National Defence headquarters.

"Members of our National Army... it is an honor for me to be here today to commemorate another year of the foundation of our beloved armed forces. I want to recognize and congratulate each and every one of you for maintaining the spirit of courage and patriotism which has characterized our army since our independence. As I have said on several occasions, the best that our army has are its men and women who each day defend our nation's values and sovereignty. The tasks that we have left to solve are many and known to all, but it is possible to move forward and to do that you have to turn a page. We have to leave the past behind and look to the future. We need an army with innovation, both in terms of capabilities and organization, because the Central America that we want is a Central America that is increasingly secure, integrated and committed to the problems of the world. In order to achieve that we must we have a modern and professional army prepared to face the problems of the 21st century. Field Report for May 9th

      | Bandar Singora - Since April last month, the Indonesian army, under the command of the ICF, has began the deployment of troops within Kra to stabilize the country. Numbering up to 2,400 soldiers, with more to come, General Agus Supratno is expecting the arrival of troops will help end the civil war and bring peace in Kra. During a briefing held yesterday, in which I personally attend, the ICF-C has planned a bombing mission which will began at approximately 17:30 on May 9th, yes, today. Codenamed Operation Garuda, Indonesian pilots, along with the assistance of Kra air force pilots, will conduct bombing mission on Thai Dai stronghold centered in Kra's northern border. The navy had placed one aircraft carrier, KRI Makassar to launch sea-based bombardment. Not much is revealed about the mission, although recently another detail is mentioned about the navy using some of its destroyers to bombard target from sea. On land, the army is expected to began engagement on Sunday, under Operation Surya, which supposedly involve a large frontal assault, although the army didn't mention much, fearing the possible of a breach. With the situation escalating, the ICF-C has requested additional 800 soldiers, which will be delivered tomorrow.
