Hey. It's been a while. I used to be called Neohippies on the original Hippiedom region. Glad to see it back from invaders. The series of anarchic communes has evolved into a socialist confederation, chugging along towards a better world. I've had my own personal battles, wars of my own to fight. The personal war is over now but a societal war is looming over the horizon. I hope you all have been doing well despite the unfortunate circumstances which have befallen all of us. I have learnt a lot from being a complete fool over the years and think I'm ready to make peace yet again. I have read and am studying currently. Will study until the end of next year. I encourage all of you to speak your mind and think differently, wrongly, some might say. This world needs dissidents very badly.

Forest Photo Contest 2020

.

2020 has undoubtedly been a year like no other. The general consensus is that it’s been crazy if not outright terrible. But with the holidays and the new year just around the corner, 2020 is finally coming to an end. Before we move on to a hopefully smoother 2021, though, there’s one last thing that needs to be done: the sixth annual Forest Photo Contest!

Here's what you need to know:

🌲 We have four categories once again this year:

  • LinkTrees (this category is permanent each year)

  • LinkLight & Dark (photos that display astounding lights and/or shades)

  • LinkSeasons (photos that represent one of the seasons or a certain time of year)

  • Link2020 (any photo that resonates with or represents this crazy year)

🌲 You may submit up to 12 photos total. You may choose how to divide those among the different categories, but please do not submit more than 12.

🌲 Please post your photos in the appropriate thread on our forums, located Linkhere. You may also submit photos via a link to an image hosting site in a telegram to Mount Seymour.

🌲 The photos must be taken by you, but can be taken at any time (not just during the contest).

🌲 Anyone in Forest or in a region which has an embassy with Forest may submit photographs for the Contest.

🌲 Timing:

  • Submissions will be open from December 18 at 00:00 GMT (7:00pm Dec 18 EST) to January 23rd at 23:59 GMT.

  • Voting will begin on January 23rd at 23:59 GMT and end January 30th at 23:59 GMT.

🌲 Voting will take place on a Google Form. Needless to say, please no puppeteering!

🌲 The photographers with the top three photographs in each category will have their photos acknowledged on our RMB, on our World Factbook Entry, and potentially in our next foreign update. A banner will also be created with a collage of the top photos to applaud the winners, and participants in the competition will be encouraged to add it as their nation's custom banner. Forest's flag will also be changed to the 1st place photos in each category for a week after the Contest.

Now it's time to head out and start photographing! Good luck to everyone!

Any questions about the Contest should be directed to Mount Seymour.

Hello Hippy Haven friends!

There are only two days left to submit your photos to this year’s Forest Photo Contest! Submissions will close on January 21st at midnight GMT. Anyone from a region that has an embassy with us can submit photos.

If you haven’t dug out your best photos yet or snapped some great new ones for the Contest, I highly suggest you do so. We have four great categories this year!

*you approach a weathered but not old man sitting by a fire. You recognize him, but have never talked to him before. Something in his gaze tells you to sit down, and listen to his story.....*

I know I stay pretty quiet on here lately (and by lately I mean the past 10 years) but I do still pop up from time to time.

I'm approaching 16 years on NationStates. I just think about all that's happened in that 16 years. All that's changed in my life, on the site, the change I've watched in others. I've gone through partners, careers, friends, EVERYTHING, and I've always logged into NationStates throughout it all. When I started playing I was only 15 years old. I had a region called Du Maurier, and we had an alliance (this is before it was a game mechanic, it was literally just a handshake agreement and some text you'd enter into the WFE) with a region called Hippidom, which of course is the mother of the region we have here today. The leader was Hard line commies back then. We don't chat as much as we used to, but I still come across telegrams like this one:

Hey friend,

How are you doing! I've wondered what you been upto! I became very inactive for awhile. Lost interest in NS. Most of my nations died, when I cam on about two months ago Hippiedom was down to 32 nations. So I started recruiting and one of the nations I recruited started a forum, so the region has grown, and added a feature. With you here it is better then ever. Great news. Hope you choose to stay and play an active role ion the region!!
How ya doing?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We battled fascism, the far right in the times of Operation Iraqi Freedom, George W. Bush (who honestly doesn't even look that bad now), and in a very fresh post 9/11 world. Things on the site were much more bare-bones back then, and the game has gone through some incredible changes.

Like I said before, I know I don't pipe up much, but I'm always here checking in. Have a great year everyone, and thanks for always being there!

*you sit in silence for a while and listen to the popping of the fire. You look over and the stump the man was sitting on is now empty. Did he get up without you noticing or.....was he ever really there at all? you stand up, and carry on into the forest.......*
