Places like that seem to have disappeared. Around here, it was blamed on the Anti-Drinking and Driving campaign. Sad really.

I was never to Kee To Bala. Besides the local bands, Lulu's had it's own house band and would feature name acts from the 60's. If memory serves, they had a cover charge of $3 on week days and $10 on weekends.

My guess, the cover charge were based on the popularity of the band, sometimes. $3 back then would be pricy. Especially if the drinks were $1, or was that supposed to be a classy place and charges higher to keep out us riff-raff. :)

The "cover charges" were to cover the costs of having the name acts performing there. I remember them having the Marvelettes and Sam and Dave performing while I was there.

Back to the smoke again. Glad I'm not up in Sudbury right now. Air quality index reading of 454. That sounds toxic to me.

I would have loved to have seen Sam and Dave live. That would be worth it.

They had all of the '60s acts that were on tour at the time.

Those were the days. Many places like that had live acts. Been to places that really needed to get their acoustics fixed. Many just countered their bad acoustics with louder base. I don't recall going to places in Southern Ontario back then.

It was fun though.

Most everything was fun in those days. Somewhere along the way the Karens and Richards in the world decided that all that fun was a sin and took it all away.

I guess that these are the days of self-entitlement where so many people think that they are the be all, end all's in their own worlds.

I hope that the self-entitled learned that their nonsense is not acceptable.

To quote Spanky in the Our Gang Comedies, "They'll never learn".

I used to watch Spanky and the Gang when I was a kid. Think that was on channel 50 from Detroit, that's been a very long time.

My parents had VHS tapes of all of the "Our Gang Comedies" that I and my sibs watched when we were kids.

I haven't had VHS in well over a decade. Did not survive one of my many moves. These days, it is difficult to find DVDs like that.

They are available on DVD from Amazon or perhaps your local library system.

Never bought anything through Amazon. I'm a Luddite that prefers bricks and mortar and a person on the other side.
