Exactly. They're trying to make us play a game that we have no interest in. The old region stood for casual play. They can take our region, but they can't take our apathy. When the going gets tough, we say meh

Pasta Pharia wrote:I believe this would simply inspire them to gather more people and re-raid, with each escalation just encouraging them and increasing their interest. Of course, you in turn could gather more people, then they could gather more etc etc. So, in theory you could choose Atheist Empire to be the final battleground between The Black Riders and the rest of Nationstates, but is the rest of Nationstates really ready to stand up and fight?

TBR are attempting to create a game within a game, but the tools they have to work with are limited so their tactics are simple (and the way to beat them is simple). Their can either do a lightning raid on a region then leave (the RL equivalent of ringing someone's doorbell and then running away), or occupy a region permanently (which is what seems to be the case for Atheist Empire). By trying to use their tactics against them, you're giving them third option; a real opponent to fight against, hence doubling the appeal of this game they've invented (and the appeal of the tactics they've been using).

The way to beat them is to make their game so boring that they don't want to play it any more. To do this you don't give them a third option (battle with the locals), but take away their second; by abandoning all founder-less regions in favour of one's with an active founder, you take away the option of a permanent occupancy and restrict them to lightning raids that do no long term damage. This will get tiresome and they'll eventually give up for something more interesting.

Makes sense, but I think that the way to defeat them is by beating then at their own game. If we invade regions that they hold, then they will get tired of it and leave. I have no problem with a final battle in Atheist Empire. If we can rally the troops, get then in a revolutionary mood, make them angry, then we can use them and invade. Taking over the region, and banjecting as many WA members as we can. Actually just waiting out the WAD is just as good. Take the delegate spot, and then wait until we have enough influence to banject him. Or just eject the WA nations with no endorsements so its harder for them to get enough endorsements. The only way I see much happening is by a atrocity committed by TBR that convinces the world to rise up. Like taking over a region with a long history.

Exactly. You're a puppet of someone from Holy Rome and so your interest is not so much in protecting the nations of Atheist Empire but more defeating The Black Riders.

What if the residents don't want continuous embassy swaps and RMB suppressions? What if they just want to carry on with what they were doing uninterrupted, without the region's factbook changing every week or without the fear of finding themselves ejected and banned just because they didn't endorse the right person at the right time?

The best way to extinguish a fire is to remove its fuel source. Your suggestion of raiding regions they hold is akin to suggesting you put out fire with gasoline!

Agreed, albeit reluctantly - the history of the old region would be lost however. Even as a relative newbie, that's not something I like to see.

As an alternative (and I may be somewhat naive here, sorry) - once the Black Whiners decide to move their baboon backsides out, we could secure the region as best we can and continue as before. If The Briggs doesn't make a reappearance, and should we be unfortunate enough to get successfully raided again, couldn't we simply relocate members to this safe harbour region for the duration of the raid? All major Factbook entries and such could be copied here for safe-keeping.

We'd get to keep the original region, secure our casual nature and yet be able to simply moon anyone who wants to mess with us by vanishing to our AE fortress.

Hi everyone

I used to have a nation in Atheist Empire (True Catholic Bigots). Hope it's okay if I join you here.

The only thing that I can think of to help with the TBR situation is to get a SC resolution to liberate AE. That would stop them from password protecting AE, which is something that they'll want/ need to do sooner or later (assuming that they intend to keep it).

I agree. I only want to lounge around and not take this too seriously. I don't want to be locked in some huge battle for a region. I also don't think I'm up for the task of WA delegacy either.. Any takers?

Well, we need to start writing fast, and we need to submit it ASAP.

I understand, but it's kind of like questioning the Allies choice to retake Europe city-by-city instead of a huge bombing and paratrooper drop into Berlin. We need to fight fire with fire, make them leave the regions. Make them angry, make them want to leave us alone, make them know that we will come right after they invade. But I understand both methods, I just don't believe that being docile and passive can help the region, somehow we need to do quick take-overs of TBR held regions. Take them over and start closing the embassy and leave. Don't let them get close enough to stop us.

Sadly, TBR isn't looking to leave. I think if we can get a Liberation passed that it'll make them leave. It'll lose value, and once they leave repeal the Liberation, then set up a password until they lose fascination with AE. I do like the idea of a backup region though.

I like everyone's ideas, but I think we are thinking too short term. Once we get the region back( however long that takes); who is going to be delegate, will it be Felandos like it was or is it going to be one of us, who are working to get rid of TBR?

I'll take for the amount of time, as long you work along side me to make decisions!

I also hope it is okay i get others to help us in our cause, we need the most amount of people we can get!

i'll tell y'all now that I off to the sidelines a bit, because of RL stuff takes up my time

Yes! Good idea my friend! We need someone who has the caliber same as THE WATERLORDS guy that can singlehandedly carry out this mission, for he is THE WATERLORDS!!!

ALL H~-- Uhmmm.. Let's Go!!!

Our fight has gotten a little harder, one of the top people at TBR gave an order to move to AE to endorse Cemetery Sentinels

The Black Riders are nothing but gnats if you have a region with a founder who isn't a hopeless simpleton.

Ditch the drama, n00bz.

But what if your founder is a cretin-like cadaver? Stupid, and in the graveyard? It's not any of the natives fault, it's the founder!a fault.

TBR's oppression has gone on long enough. We must put an end to their little game. I support you in your cause 100%!

Together we stand!!!!
ALL HAIL WATERLORDS!!!!!!!!!!!

But by fighting back, we would only increase their motivation to win the game. I would love to take back the old region as well, but it would still be just as vulnerable. It would just become a never ending cycle of invading.

Also, can we get an official delegate now? It's probably not good that it keeps switching around

I suppose we should vote a delegate.

We are perfect

They have a crap load of endorsements, how are we supposed to compete against that? We should just wait for a majority of the raiders to get bored and leave. We are stoking the fire by trying to rebel. Just let it pass.

Interzone inc

There's certainly no immediate prospect of getting back Atheist Empire. However, with a SC liberation, there are very reasonable prospects for getting it back in the long term.

In order to keep it, TBR will need to re-found it. And in order to do that, they'll need to password protect it first. A liberation resolution would prevent that, meaning that the only way to hold the place would be for them to keep a huge military force there indefinitely. I doubt if they'd be willing to do that.

Free secular Humanists wrote:I suppose we should vote a delegate.

Seconded - that said, thanks for the endorsements you've given me folks, but I'd rather leave myself out of that race; I'm too inexperienced in the game for the WA delegate position. A few months down the line when I've got the lay of the land, and when I've got the hang of the WA intrigues and backstabbing, then sure ;)

Glad there's a quiet place for us AE members here.

OK, so, I don't really understand all of this "raiding" stuff that well, but I was in the old region and I moved here, and wouldn't mind helping out to get it back. What can I do in order to assist you guys?
