\\Character update - Overload//
<My synthetic evolution has been slow going... Which is really annoying. I told the meatbags not to interfere with my core programming... They were going to but that Cross chick and the Princess told the engineers building my new body with some newbies help. Dad hasn't come to the lab in awhile but the doctor guy he met in Wabacha does come by now and then to see how I'm progressing. Must be interesting to him... Seeing an AI forged from magic and reverse engineered Alien tech form. I still have no personality subroutines, which is fine by me. Apparently I don't need it since my opponent is some ancient Vampire moron who can freeze people in their place with a glance...> The sound of metal gears and welding torches fill the room as metal sheets forged from magical ores are pounded, pressed, mangled and reshaped into interlocking parts, thousands of components forged to shape a high performance body that would outshine anything that Zocom has previously forged in the field of robots or even machines in general.
<That ability sounds really cowardly... If that's the kind of guy I have to fight sooner or later then thats fine by me. I'll send him back to whatever era he was dug up from. Thanks to the Imperiums 'generous' donations on the Vampire intel Samuel Mason gifted their Templars I now have everything I need in the way of information on how some of the supernatural species of today can be killed... But that's apparently next to useless thanks to what the Cross girl told me. Guy's some kind of Vampire Precursor, which makes things very interestin... I knock his block off and I get the credit for re-murdering a troublesome chapter of history. Sounds pretty sweet to me.>
The intricate parts start to form together as the interior mortars, wiring and hardware start to slot, click and fix into place. All of this taking place while the power source starts to be offloaded from its containment... The Prototype models biggest issue always was energy consumption. Though now, thanks to the recent boom in tech and innovations in magitech technology they created a new source of power that only the new model could use. A perfect combination of science and magic, a magic singularity. A little white star sealed within the confines of a magical housing, a star that feeds on the natural mana in the air to create heaps of energy, was placed into the chest of the newly forged body as it started to power the frame as its pieces hum to life.
<Since dad wasn't around I decided to tweak my evolution core... Lacking hands I had to ask a newbie called Alek and his AI called omega... They're pretty competent, might even outshine the old man if I gave them enough time with my new body and the core. But the old evolution form of mine... It was too weak, I couldn't adapt fast enough to keep up with Orsimur... I can't let that happen again. I have to be faster, I have to be stronger. I have to win. So I added some new parameters and designed a new chassis for the transformation. The power output and conversion of the base body to to keep up will be taxing on my body but that's what a transformation is all about... I collected alot of data thanks to those brats that came with Sam... Especially that guy called 'Duncan'. His transformation was monstrous. I was only really able to grasp it for a moment before I ended up suicide charging that stupid ink spider. But I'll need to temper the new body... It's supposed to be highly adaptive thanks to its all magical construction, soul forged metals that change and shift on the wielders experiences, since I lack a soul it's been wired into my core so it acts like a symbiote, my body and the power source should grow more powerful with my experiences... 'The perfect imitation of a superhuman' one of the lab nerds called me, disrespectful. I'm way better than any 'superhuman' I can learn and grow faster, and live if the body is destroyed.>
Disconnecting the modified evolution AI core from the Royal database, Overload was slowly lowered into his new body. <I don't know if I should keep the name 'Overload'... Sure it's the name my dad gave me, but the guy isn't even around anymore to watch me grow like this... Its pathetic... I should give myself a new name... One that isn't made up of numbers and letters. This is my rebirth, it needs to be good... Hmmm... Mmmm.....Eh I'll workshop it. If I remember right I'm to start training with that Cross girl and her horde of super powered dorks. Fine by me...-> The finished product, a frame envisioned to resemble the angelic form of Overloads previous super form. Though this one was smaller, build more athletic and pristine without sacrificing strength or power. The chassis was a pristine white with blue details with some red accents in some places.
The robotic body whirs to life, blue eyes open to slowly push the chassis up off of its back to start stretching. "Aaah~ Its good to have a body again." Overload mused to the open room filled with machinery and engineers, the android turned to one of the scientists standing by "So... When do I start training?"
"I was waiting for the exposition to end," Says Vasile as he erases Overload from existence.
"Erasing a crucial actor in this play is cheating Precursor. If you cannot participate then others will be a more fitting replacement for your ineptitude" Deinmarr says placin the little angel robot replica back on the table
He erases John circumventing the middleman.
To his horror he now realises that John was just another persona made by trenchcoat wearing Wombles
Max Barry bars your path and demands you buy his books
Vasile doesnt notice because there is no rmb.
One of the Four Kings, Peace, politely exclaims "stop"
"Not so fast I still have one more trick up my sleeve." Hito said as he got as crystals started to form around his body as it completely covers him like a armored suit.
"You think that armor would do any good?" Kali asked as she charged at Hito punching him at full force. However, Hito was not sent flying the punch Kali delievered only made him move one inch.
"Nice try kid, but now its my turn..." Hito said as he formed a crystal sword on his right arm ready to cut Kali in half.
That was until someone kicked Kali away from the attack and that person was Nano who was cut in half by Hito's sword attack Aylokin, Kali, and Future Sabi gasped in shock as they saw the Android fall on the ground circuits sparking.
"Mom!" Future Sabi called out as she saw her past mom took the hit for Kali.
Flaz was stood there, frozen with shock as he watched Nano hit the ground after being cleaved in half. The world seemed to slowed to a crawling halt, hearing his heartbeat in his ears as he saw back to when she first appeared in their lives. So many years ago now when she joined their community with the little saiyan girl in her arms. In the years that followed when she became a sturdy pillar of the community, when she became a valued friend that was loved by all of her friends and loved by the daughter she was raising now, he made her the chief of the Crimson Ranger police force because he knew she was ready and now she risked her life for his granddaughter.
A red cloak of aura surrounded him as he looked down at Nano before the gaze lifted to meet Hito, his muscles start to expand as the red aura around him waned and expanded, even flickering with a rose colour in places "You..." Flaz leaned forward before he exploded with movement, far faster than he was before. With a feint frontal charge he quickly appeared behind Hito to kick Hito in the side of the head, the leg he was kicking him with expanded and became golden, stopping just above his knee. Both hands filled with red ki as he released a full powered Ki blast volley right into Hito's face. Nano would definitely recognise that kind of transformation , if she was still conscious, but it was incomplete, a false transformation if you will.
Now, I know this may be a loaded question. But where do we stand on the rules when using Anti-magic? How far can we take this?
Depends on the magic it antis. I've already done some work with antimagic fields used scientifically in regards some of my TAS work. Such things can either be focused on specific types of magic or cover a broad spectrum to some extent. Some magic types, like traditional and some witch magic (witch alchemy is for example not included) can be nullified rather simply, but to counter old magic you must specifically stop the connection to the patron entity, as the entity itself is most likely made of magic or spiritual energy and cannot be antimagic'ed. The only way to counter primal magic and instinct is to be stronger in either respectively. Spirit energy for the most part can only be canceled by itself.
Resistive properties of the Doumi (Mage and Hayes in the current year) are examples of personal nulls/counters against magic and spirit energy. The Crossed King is another example of f*ckyou powers against both spirit and planar (Paradise/Perdition/Veil) beings.
The main unspoken rule with antimagic is that each version has an upper limit. The most common versions are game changers up through G, an example being the demon containment spell Celecia used on Imps, Yolg, and the Knight of Hell that became part of Hellknight Maria. It can be used on anything G and below, but once you start getting into the gray area between G7 and the S ranks the spells start getting overwhelmed by the potency of the being that it's containing. Yolg again being a great example, as he never had an issue leaving the spells of his own volition multiple times.
Once you get into S ranks, and in our area Aura comes more into play, you will have to start getting more specific. Antimagic at this level will either have to be spells at the specific rank tou want to stop or higher, and/or cast but someone at that level or higher. And once something or someone breaks through the S3 barrier, like Sam has, even a S3 anti-magic spell would only make him struggle for a bit. If he was still a vampire anyways.
Some things are also impossible to antimagic, even under S. A number of creatures and beings are bound to a plane or alignment, and can only be stopped or harmed by specific materials. The Gilpwarg for example can only be harmed by Lawful weapons, materials, or spells. As antimagic is not an alignment based magic, it wouldn't stop the alignment requirement. Probably the most (IC) infamous example would be the Howding, which can only be harmed by a weapon dipped in the blood of its victims. Truly mythical/supernatural abilities cannot be countered by antimagic.
Though overall antimagic is an excellent tool against most magical creatures and spell casters and should be used a lot more. I'm always happy to see new ideas and applications for it.
So my lizardfolk is legitamently about to threaten to kill another party member do to their in character behavior. They have been responsible for the parties most damaging spell caster near death three times. If it happens again My character is going to kill and potentially eat him xD
As of lately, there has been a trend in forums to add memes on flag - apparently anime flag trend is out of fashion by now. I decided to jump in the bandwagon, and add the glorious bald eagle on my flag.
So say, weapons with antimagic properties could only go so far before being useless against higher up creatures?
*Caws in freedom*
If you had a common anti-magic sword made to cancel out spells or effects on a strike, an uncommon or rare spell or effect would only be minorly effected if at all, where as a common spell would be cancelled. (As generic an example as I can make.)
Basically if you are making an anti magic weapon the source of the anti magic must be equal or greater than the magic you are canceling. As far as my understanding of it goes.
Huh... Well at least now I have this to think about when going into some new upgrades for characters later on.
That about sums it up, yeah. The same applies if you have innate anti magic stuff. If the magic exceeds your own ability, well you can't limit it.
