November 14, 1913, Human-occupied Accipitridia. Teryph turns four on this day. He is served a birthday cake. A big smile appears on his face as he is given the cake. His older brother, Lerix lets out a round of applause along with the rest of his family. Teryph was asked about his birthday wish. He wishes that he wants a good job and a bright future for him. All of a sudden, the house's front door was broken when a soldier bashes it with his rifle. The soldier shoots Teryph's father with his bolt-action, killing him. Lerix snatches Teryph and heads upstairs. There, they hid under the bed.

Lerix tells Teryph to stay silent as they hide. As a soldier enters the bedroom, they see their sister. She shrieks as the soldier barges in. Her leg was shot by the soldier's rifle. She was then taken out of the house to be sold into servitude. Meanwhile, Lerix crawls out and grabs a small knife. He then sneaks upto a soldier and stabs him in the neck. The others hear this and shoot Lerix multiple times. Teryph sees his brother's body fall on the floor.

As the soldiers leave, Teryph checks to see if they're gone. His mother, who was hiding, enters the room and sobs at the sight of the dead Lerix. Teryph crawls out and gives her a hug. She says to him, "Promise me you will make them pay. When you grow up, I want you to kill every single one of them. Make them suffer how we did, please.".

"I will." Says Young Teryph.
