German spitsbergen wrote:Didn't the Russian Empire had a settlement on Northern California? (I know it sounds like a non sequitur but hear me out)Yeah. But at the same time, it is known that both had great respect for each other as military commanders and strategists.

They had a fort near San Francisco, which was the farthest south they went. They tried to claim Oregon country at the time.

I appreciate the respectful doubt. But I was checking and turns out that there was at least one:
"Fort Ross (Russian: Форт-Росс), originally Fortress Ross (Russian: Крѣпость Россъ, tr. Krepostʹ Ross), is a former Russian establishment on the west coast of North America in what is now Sonoma County, California. It was the hub of the southernmost Russian settlements in North America from 1812 to 1841."

Hannibal the great wrote:Yep. When Scipio asked him : Who was the best General, Hannibal answered : Alexander the Great, and Hannibal.
Scipio laughed because it showed to Scipio that he had some respect to Scipio and still this military joke between them.

You know, of the people I know, quite a few know Hannibal, but a substantially smaller have hardly even heard of Scipio Africanus, even tho he is one of the greatest military commanders of the Republic Period (of the ones that did not fight in civil wars)

I worked on aircraft all my life.

Yet I love trains. Lol

Here's the link to yesterdays Train Time - it's a sad one though. page=rmb/postid=42972260

Airplanes and trains are both amazing machines that changed the world and nonetheless are taken for granted today. Their evolutions and designs are amazing.

The Spanish had the best claim early on. They had missions up and down California before the 13 colonies got going.

I hugged a friend recently. We’re both vaccinated against covid and Dr. Fauci said it was okay.

We should’ve let them have it. Northwest Antifa vs ОМОН sounds great.

It's discouraging. He is an incredible military strategist and a formidable adversary of the Second Punic War. I love Roman history. It's so interesting. I love history in summary.

Dr. Fauci is a politician, not a doctor.

But, I believe if you agree with him, than you have every right to :).

They were pretty much forced to give us Alaska in 1867 to avoid it getting taken out and added to Canada. We were friends with them at the time, since we both hated the British. I seriously doubt they would've kept Oregon or California in any case.

Nice state btw, I see your parents have about 1,273 dollars in their bank account, how about I lessen the load.

I ask them this to know about the climate there, other than that the state is just a big pile of shrimp.

The British Rail Class 104 diesel multiple units were built by Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Company from 1957 to 1959.

A product of British Rail's Modernisation Plan of 1954, the 104s were designed for general branch line and commuter routes. The first units ordered were for the London Midland Region, with the majority of the class for use in North West of England. The Class 110 was a re-engineered version of the 104 with more powerful engines, but did not last as long in service.

I'll see you in TNP court.
