Kathol Rift
Done for the day.

The following entries are a collection of papers that document the cultural exchange between the People's Republic of Wubdich and The Federal Command of Kathol Rift. Both participants send a group of their people to learn from and about the other's culture. Along with them, both nations sent artifacts precious to their history and culture.

Report 26-05-20:
(Last Upadted 22:35 local time by Dr. R. Wiese, leader of the exchange program.)

We have savely arrived on the main land of Kathol Rift, in the southern port-city of Keldade. While approaching the island we were already overwhelmed by the nation. Their technology is miles ahead of ours, as it seems. Or at least far more advanced as what we knew from the late USSR. From afar we already spotted several vessels, crafts, objects, and metallic creatures we could only dream off right now. And as far as we are aware of it, the Kathols are already on their way to conquer the stars, judging by the crafts we spotted from afar, leavig the earth. It will be of great interest for us to have a look at their scientific achievements.

Once docked, we were greeted by several people that will guide us during our stay. We were surprised at first when we saw that our guides are partly of different species. Though the majority of them is still human, among them are all different kinds of species that are living in the nation as well. Among them we found some familiar faces to us, the Vulpinids, as well as the infamous catgirls to name a few. Unlike other nations, as we know, the Kathols accept other species like their natives without any prejudices. This subject will be further looked into another day.

After a short introduction round, we were introduced to one of the first cultural rules of the Kathols. Never refuse or ignore a handshake when offered. One of our members attracted strange looks from the natives, when he first retracted his hand before a handshake, as he was about to sneeze. I was directly told by two of the guides that it is seen as disrespectful to do such. Later I informed the whole group about that fact.

Once we knew each other, we were ready to go and headed to the transport to the capital. On our way, we got a first glimpse at the architecture and some aspects of the city. While parts of the city have a brutalist/militaristic built, The occasional international architecture or some 'monarchist'-inspired buildings are mixed among it. The modern building styles are similiar to what we've seen in Katrzynija, but without the plant-based structures sealed into or attached to them. If we are correct, the military is closely related to the everyday life of the people, judging by how the military and other things related to it are portrayed in the commercial sector.

Speaking of military, we first observed a high number of soldiers roaming the cities, leading us to the conclusion that [REDACTED]. But as it turns out, it's just a sign of honor and strength of veterans. Veterans often tend to wear their old armor as their everyday clothing, to show their pride and honor for their nation. Our first conclusion was thus horibly wrong, and we were glad to not have openly stated what we thought.

With a fast train we were driven to the capital. Since the train was faster than we would have expected it, we weren't able to get a great look at the countryside on our way to the capital. But we got a quick overview. From where we came, the south, the island is dominated by jungles that turn into lush forests and grasslands the further you go inland. All three bioms have perfectly adapted to the Kathols, if not vice versa, as flora and fauna do not seem to intervene with the Katholian technology and infrastructure that much. At the center of the island stands tall a mountain range, which's tallest top nearly marks the center of the island. Located by the mountain range is the capital, The Citadel. The city we will reside in for the coming days.

Since our journey to the island took comparably long, our guides suggested that we first take a rest in the hotel appointed for us, due to the fact that it was already late. Though we insisted on presenting our nation's gift to the leaders, the senate and Kathol'ar 'Kayla Verdika', our guides convinced us to postpone the handing over of the gift until tomorrow. Hesitantly and pressured by ourselves, we complied and settled in the hotel. But it is clear that this will be the first thing we will do tomorrow.

-Dr. Robert Wiese

Report 27-05-20
(Last Upadted 22:22 local time by Dr. R. Wiese, leader of the exchange program.)

As we promised ourselves, we went to the gouvernment to present our gift to the Senate and the Kathol'ar, Kayla Verdika. Our councils back home decided to send a gift with more militaristic, and hopefully in their eyes, honorable meaning. Thus, we were tasked to gift the Kathols a Samurai Sword that an exilee from the old ages brought on our islands. Legends tell that this sword has seen the fall of the Samurai itself, with many markings and scars suggesting that it is true. A sword that was part of the battle of Shiroyama, should thus be a great gift to the warrior nation.

Guided and guarded respectfully by a lot of Kathol military personell, we entered the Citadel, the building that gives it's city the name. The gigantic, brutalist, yet majestic building towers over all other buildings of the city, not only due to it being built on the side of a mountain. All major streets of the city lead towards the collossal building and the great square in front of it. On said square, a statue stands tall, watching over the city. The statue is dedicated to the former Kathol'ar James Leon, though we were only given a brief history lesson relating the former Kathol leader. We were told that though he was somewhat controversial, his leadership remains unforgotten and a part of the nation's history. We are unsure however, if that statue was really wanted by the people or not, as opinions seemed to have slightly differed among our guides.

Due to busy schedules, and important and convidential matters, the leaders of the nation only had a short time to welcome us. Understanding the situation, we made our announcement and introduction a short one. Relatively less rushed we handed over our nation's gift though. And the leaders seemed very pleased and interested in it, which pleased us as well of course. Shortly after we had to leave again, due to the confidential businesses the gouvernment is conducting.

Just like in our previous cultural exchange program, we had a look around the capital first. Like Keldade, the Citadel is dominated by buildings of a brutalist architecture, occasionally having monarchist and other, older architectures mixed among them. And even though the city is dominated by concrete, steel, glass and stone, plants also find their places in between the buildings. It has an almost a surreal asthetic look.

What you'll also find spreaded throughout the city, are statues of various named and unnamed war heros. We weren't surprised when our guides told us that the statues were dedicated to great warriors and heros of the nation's history. Some of the statues though are dedicated to important historical events, like the memorial of the 'Death Plague' that killed over more than a third of the young nation's population or the statue for inventor Talo Et Fonschi, who created the plans for the first flying machine and layed down the foundation for aviation. But history was not the primary topic of today. We just had a look around the capital today.

Some parts of the capital have grown a greater population of non-humans. Those districts are a great example of the integration of said communities in the nation of Kathol Rift. All aspects of culture from the non-humans homes have find their place in such districts, from simply restaurants or bars to even special cinemas showing movies from their home nations. And it is quite a strange or otherwise amusing view seeing some non-humans in armor of the Kathol, now that we had a greater look at it. But we only think or thought so, because we originally thought that all Kathol soldiers are human. We were corrected by the people passing by us.

Tomorrow we will be taking a look into the nations history, since we have been inspired to do so by the statues and memorials around the city. Unlike in our last programm, texts and recordings have been translated into languages that we are able to read without assisstance by our guides. So we can gather our information independently tomorrow.

-Dr. Robert Wiese.

Report 28-05-20
(Last Upadted 22:11 local time by Akane Hisakawa, assisstant of Dr. R. Wiese.)

We visited the great Kathol Libary of the Citadel today, to read through the history of the nation, and our findings were rich. The libary was so rich on historical documentation, that we had to cut many parts of our report, which would otherwise have gotten too long.

The first ever metionable event connected to the Kathol history and culture is allegedly the strike of an asteroid tens of thousands if not millions of years BCE. That asteroid was responsible for an extinction event in the world, but also brought a metal, the so called 'Rift Iron', to the islands. A material that is widely used for and in many weapons, tools and structures of the nation.

Only 4,000 BCE the first signs of the Kanda civilization, the ancestors of the moder Kathols, surfaced. They lived in peace and harmony, as far as the few records and findings about them go. But when in 2,000 BCE the first humans arrived, the peace and harmony they enjoyed has supposedly taken a dark turn. Findings from the years about 1,900 BCE prove that the Kandar and the humans had been in violent confrontations every now and then. And for the longest time, it stayed like this, until an earthquake about 1,700 BCE wiped out most of the Kandar civilization, while keeping the humans relatively untouched. It is unknown if hostilities between the two civilizations seized immediately, but there is prove that only a hundred years later, the remaining Kandar put down their aggressions and welcomed the humans. The two became one and lived together from this day forth. And at about 1,400 BCE, the first evidence for Kandar-human hybrids surfaced. Their cooperation as one civilization, however, led to the extinction of the Kandars, at about 1,100 BCE, only about 2,900 years after the Kandar established themselves in these lands.

Three powerful nations arose in the years around 980 BCE, the Riftian Empire, the Kathol Sultanate, and the Ritif Kingdom, all ruled primarely by humans. Though they first appeared to be living in harmony, tensions arose quickly over the question of dominance and power, leading to minor, non-violent confrontations over the years. War was nonetheless inevitable, leading to the 'Thirty Years War' between Kathol Sultanate and Ritif Kingdom in 900 BCE, for reasons long forgotten. It has been a mystery what really ignited the war, with rumors saying it was an attempted assassination or an actual proper, first-strike invasion. Not exactly 30 years later, in 872 BCE, the war ended with the Kathol Sultanate defeating and absorbing Ritif Kingdom, creating the Kathol Empire. The now two coexisting empires, Kathol and the Riftian, held a status quo, until the Kathols female heir to the throne was married to the Riftian's male heir in 832 BCE, in an attempt to reduce the tension between the empires.

While the Kathol Empire minded it's own business, fixing and stabilizing the damage the Thirty Years War left, the Riftians expanded into unclaimed mostly to the west coast, about 798 BCE. For hundreds of years, the empires lived in harmony, only striking down and integrating smaller kingdoms, duchies and others into their empires. Both nations thrived, especially the Kathol Empire, after the damage from the war was undone. The sacred peace and harmony was broken however, when in 265 BCE the Kathols executed an envoy from the Riftian Empire, due to many misunderstandings and miscommunications, thus beginning of Kathol Riftian War, a conflict raging hundreds of years long.

Report 29-05-20
(Last Upadted 23:07 local time by Dr. R. Wiese, leader of the exchange program.)

Due to a national emergency involving the likely hood of war on the main island, we were surprised by security personell in the middle of the night, who brought us into gouvernmental bunkers. The emergency was held up for the entire day, the 29th of May, limiting our program extremely. But since my personal assisstant made a fatal error in the transmission of yesterday's report, today's report will conclude the documentation of history we have conducted.

The great Kathol-Riftian War came to an end in the year of 136 CE, leaving millions of deaths over the century long conflict, as well as an empire in ruins. Hence the Kathol Empire won, all Riftian territories were absorbed, putting an end to the Riftian Empire. But just in any of such outcomes, that mean the death to an empire, it's people did not accept the outcome, leading to mild confrontations immediately after the war ended. As a compromise, the Kathol Empire adopted the Riftian 'Trial by combat' to choose the first Kathol'ar, the new leader of the joint empire in the year of 145 CE. Following the declaration of the first Kathol'ar, the joint empire was renamed to the 'Empire of Kathol Rift'.

Though many steps were taken to unite the empire's people, remnants of the Riftian Empire began insurrections against Kathol Rift in 148 CE. This goes on for many years, though they are not ever close to success until 456 CE. A far darker fate struck the Empire in 364 CE though, when the 'Death Plague' swept through the lands, that held until the year of 405 CE. It only reached it's peak in 404 CE though, when the last heavy outbreak killed every remaining infected person, resulting in a mass-dying given the year the name 'Lost Year' or 'Unfindable Year'. A third of the entire empire's population was wiped out by the virus by it's end.

The weakened country was nearly given no rest either. Half a century later in 456 CE, insurrectionists of the Riftian people burn down the capital, sending the nation into complete turmoil. Within this turmoil, a great part of the empire broke off, declaring itself the Second Riftian Empire. Just a year later, the Great Civil War began, sending the lands once again into a century long conflict with millions of deaths. The conflict only died down hundreds of years later, in 784 CE, when the marriage of the daughter of the Kathol’ar and the son of the Riftian Emperor happened, concluding in a truce. The two nations remain separate, but allied.

This time, the nations' relations remain calm and friendly, slowly warming up over time. For nearly a decade, the two nations stay as they are, holding together when common threats arise. In 878 CE, however, the son of the current Riftian Emperor challenges the Kathol’ar for the right to the throne of Kathol Rift. The son loses, but it brings the nations closer together as they share many of their customs and laws. For the next centuries, the two nations remain close, without many nameble occurences.

The year 1164 CE. A relatively unknown soldier of Kathol Rift challenges both the Kathol’ar, Rayan Loen, and the Riftian Emperor, Kalon Vau, for rule of the whole continent. The soldier wins, and reunites the two empires under the name of Kathol Rift. This man went by the name of Ordo Skiratat, and it is to this day unknown how he was able to defeat both of them at the same time. Some historians claim he cheated. Some say he is the father of the Katholian saying 'Too Angry to Die'. His story was never fully documented.

1363 CE marked the twilight of religion, as the Empire began it's Renaissance, thus advancing as a culture and in science. Hence religion was mostly abandoned in favor of science. Two important events mark the era. First were the doings of the inventor Talo Et Fonschi in 1503 CE, the inventor of the first 'Flying Machine', breaking dawn to the nation's glorious aviation history. The second was the beginning of the Colonial era in 1724 CE, when the empire set foot and made the 'Amethyst islands' their land.

The 20th century CE was a century painted by rather unsuspected political turmoil within the empire. First many territories of Kathol Rift threatened to seceed from the empire, if they were not given more autonamy at the beginning of the century. The Kathol'ar at the time allowed regional governors to have a greater degree of freedom in administrating their territories in 1906 CE, thus ending the first turmoil.

The rest of the troubles and turmoil of the century have been greatly preserved in excellent documentation of the Empire of Kathol Rift. The documents have been send with this report. Refer History of the Modern Era.

After we were released from the bunkers, we were informed about the situation, and how we are no longer in danger. Reason for the lockdown was [REDACTED] (See note by the CoP.)
But tomorrow we will resume our program by paying a visit to important places of the Empire.

Note by the CoP: Certain parts of the report were censored by request of the Military Administration of Kathol Rift.

Report 30-05-20
(Last Upadted 23:19 local time by Dr. R. Wiese, leader of the exchange program.)

Following our day confined in a bunker due to various national events, we decided to take a trip around the island nation. Not only to take a look at the flora and fauna of the nation, but also to see the biggest cities, important historical sights, and maybe even the average villages along the way. During our historical research, we were suprised that so many different biomes were mentioned across the empire. From jungles and grasslands as we've seen them around the southern port we arrived in. Our first trip will lead from the east to the north and back to the center. We were told to take the right clothes with us, since we will experience a mildly drastic change in weather conditions. But we are used to certain conditions, so we thought it would be fine.

In the east of the island lay mostly evergreen forests, covering hills that flatten out close to the coast. What was already visible from afar was that parts of the forests are entirely made out of young, smaller trees, due to the fact that the battles in the Eastern Conquest flattened, burned down, and generally destroyed parts of the forests, in an attempt to effectively destroy the guerillia warfare tactics of the Eastern territories. Most of the time it only lead to senseless destruction under Kayl Katath's, one of the Kathol'ar during the war, rule of the nation. After the war ended under James Leon's rule, he ordered that the forests shall recover, to undo the damage the war has done. That is why one of the newly planted forests was named after him.

Spreaded throughout the forests are various former military buildings, that were built quickly as some kind of fortress against the Kathol Riftian army during the war. Some remind us of what we know from our archived documentations of the Vietnam War. And some of our guides even showed us something that we inevitably connected to the Vietnam War. Under the forests lay huge tunnel systems that connect or connected basis spreaded all over the forests. Many can no longer be entered, since the forests have retaken the earth beneath them, or were destroyed as the Eastern forces fled, or just collapsed over time without any outside influence. We were only allowed to enter a small reinforced system, that was opened for visitors under Leon's rule. But it already showed us enough to convince us of the simularities to the Vietcong.

Amid all the forests lays the city of Hazon, which was the Eastern Capital during the duration of the Eastern Conquest. Next to no buildings with old architecture stand here, because they've been destroyed by bombing missions prior to Leon's rule. But the city possesses a unique, and gigantic cave system, unmatched by anything we've previously seen outside of Katrznija. Most of these caves were converted into a huge metro network, that now connects the entire city and smaller settlements in the region. Hazon is also home to a statue of James Leon, looking heroically in the direction of the capital. Despite his conquest of the East, he was also declared a hero by the people here, as he ended the war without a huge amount of spilled blood.

On the way north we made a stop in another, smaller city. Skov is so 'small' actually, that it was unseen by bombers during the Eastern Conquest, as it is partly covered by the forests around it. To support that fact, the tallest tower of the city was even partly covered in trees and other plants to remain unseen from afar. Parts of the city were destroyed regardless by ground troops or the locals commited to the 'Scorched Earth' doctrine, but since the end of the war was near at the time, the damages were minor and easy to repair.

North of the central mountain range lay cold tundra and taiga regions, that were partly still covered in thick ice and snow as we traveled through them. We were surprised of the variety of biomes this nation holds, even when we already knew about it. The region was one of the last to be fully integrated into the empire, as there is not much to get out of it. After the discovery of oil and fossil gasses however, the region became an important economical part of the empire. It became the most well protected part of the nation during the Eastern Conquest due to concerns of being robbed of it's deposit. Soon after the war however, Leon decided to close many pumps and digsides for various reasons.

After one of the biggest raffineries was closed, the city of Miraman was erected a top of the then empty land. It's existence should resolve around commercials and relaxation, which is why many buildings were erected for entertainment here. Including a biodome to go for a swim by the beach in the middle of the cold tundra, which we couldn't resist to visit. And we were stunned by how well everything felt there. Nearly tropical temperatures surprised us inside the dome. And our experience was only topped by the beautiful Aurora Borealis that appeared during that time, which could be observed through the glass top of the dome. Probably a place we will visit once more during our stay here.

On our way back to the capital, there wasn't much to see anymore, since the sun was long gone. Our guides only told us about a glacier made of unnaturally blue ice and a volcano chain that's also worth a visit. Hence, we will go for another quick trip there, before we make our way from the west to the south tomorrow. And thus, our day was finished.

-Dr. Robert Wiese

Report 31-05-20
(Last Upadted 23:09 local time by Dr. R. Wiese, leader of the exchange program.)

After we have taken a look at the east and north of the country, our next trip went south and then west-ward. But first we had to take a quick trip into the north again, to have a look at the blue-iced glacier and the volcano range that we couldn't look at anymore yesterday. Thus, we were taken north in a futuristic plane-spaceship hybrid, that brought us quickly from A to B.

The glacier was truely a mesmerizing view. The blue ice covered by a thin snow layer on top, almost looked unnatural. A geologist among our guides and one among my team explained that the ice took this color due to various natural phenomenon, connected to the nearby volcano chain. When they mentioned it, I realized that the air and ground were unnaturally warm for being that close to a glacier, that high up north, and elevated on a mountain range. Hot water and underground magma bubbles were responsible for it. Because of them, snow or white ice doesn't freeze up on the glacier, thus making the ice as clear as the sea in warmer parts of the world. The volcanoes were also a pleasant view, though they were just seen as 'regular semi-active' volcanoes by most of it's visitors, locals or foreign, they are a little wonder, due to the different types of minerals that make them up. Hence, the volcanos walls are bizzarely colored in red, yellow and blue at some points.

After quickly going back to the capital and replenishing our supplies, we got on our way to the southern parts of the country, starting in the city we arrived here, Keldade. Since we had seen the city before, and our guides couldn't suggest anything breath taking, we left it relatively quickly, after having a small tour through the commercial zones of the city, where we acquired some nice things.

Our next stop was the city of Contra, in the plain grasslands, close to the forests that change into jungle just a couple kilometers south. From afar we were surprised to see a huge statue depicting multiple different people. Our guides quickly corrected us, telling us that these are no regular people, but gods and deities of the Kandar legends, the primary religion of Kathol Rift. We promised ourselfs to dig deeper into that topic another day, since the holy sight was so incredible, it burned itself into our heads. Hence, it's description will follow with the same report.

Overall the city of Contra is a pretty, humble city 'in the middle of nowhere'. It doesn't have much highrise buildings, due to the respect the Kathol's pay to their gods. Instead, the city went underground. Shortly before the holysight came into being, the city of Contra was a mining city, dedicated to dig for various metals, while searching for fragments of the meteor from before million years BCE, that brought the Kathol Riftians the 'Rift Iron', a metal far more sturdy and harder than steel, yet lighter and easier to use. On the hunt for it, a gigantic mining system was established in these plains, which was transformed into the city of Contra under James Leon's rule, for the same reasons as the northern city of Miraman.

In the western mountain ranges we arrived in the city of Jaiga, which has great simularities in structure and architecture to the capital. But the city was given a specific name. 'The Lookout'. It's name is explained with two main reasons. The first, the Amethyst islands to the southwest, past the coast of the southwestern peninsula. The islands are perfectly visible from the city, due to it's elevation, on the horizon, with some smaller islands reaching out towards the mainland. Notable of the view were the dozens of kilometer long bridges that connect the islands. Secondly, the city has a perfect view of the mentioned southwestern peninsula. And on that peninsula stands a monument, hundreds of meters tall, in the form of a spire. Our first thought of it being a lighthouse proved false when we read through the information giving at the observatory, from where both mentioned places can be perfectly observed. The monument is a memorial dedicated to Kayl Katath, James Leon's predecessor. We got confused of why such a monument was erected, although he was seen as a rather 'bad' ruler. It is all connected to Kathol traditions, which demand the construction of memorable monuments for the past Kathol'ars. Hence, the monument was erected in his name, even when his name was rather infamous.

And that concluded our journey for today once again, since we didn't meet any great places of interest on our way back to the capital. Our guides told us about some, in their eyes, semi-interesting places, which they didn't want us to see now though, due to various reasons. Either because some places are still in lockdown from the national emergency or are just not open for visitors in this season.

Our next report will take a look at the nation's religious side, with a special description on the holysight of Jaiga.

-Dr. Robert Wiese

Report 01-06-20
(Last Upadted 22:11 local time by Akane Hisakawa, assisstant of Dr. R. Wiese.)

Our last tour gave us the idea to take a look into the Katholian religions. Right from the start we have been informed that the Empire is open to all religions, but the majority of it's population identifies as atheist. The national religion, the Kandar Legends, have nonetheless gained popularity and acknowledgement, in a way that even atheists believe in or have connections to some of these legends.

Summarized, the Kandar Legends are a collection of tales, legends and folklore connected to the ancestors of the Kathol Riftians, the Kandar, who went extince thousands of years ago. The Kandar also believed in a variety of gods, but most of them have been lost after the earthquakes that nearly caused the the early end of the Kandar. Only a few have survived time, and even their stories are said to have been bent and twisted in a way to make them look and sound more powerful, human, or 'relatable'. To make them more human, the locals always say that 'the main gods are a family like all mortals', giving them a more humane and friendlier image, instead of the divine and untouchable deities.

Without furtherado, we will dig into the material of the gods. In connection to their description, some of our team members suggested to describe the holysight of the city of Jaiga along with it, which took us some time to connect the sentences, but we were able to do it nonetheless.

The holy sight of Jaiga has 'two sides'. One side has depicts just one of the divine beings along with thousands of small face-less soldiers of all eras of Kathol Rift's history, while the other depicts three beings with hundreds of faceless individuals reaching out or leaning onto them. The side with the single god faces away from the capital, while the other faces at it.

The 'single god' is the god of aggressive war and patron god of soldiers and fathers, Kendu, who storms into battle with thousands of soldiers following him. He is said to be the father of all gods and the father of the Kandar, who though long and hard to defend his children, and always turns out victorious. It is his quest to protect his children, and avenge the fallen, which motivates hundreds of thousands of men to join the battle. Meanwhile, Sheza, the mother, goddess of defense of Kathol Rift and patron goddess of guards and mothers, stays behind to protect the weak, unarmed and young, gods as well as humans. Protective she spreads her arms for the children of the nation, keeping them away from the dangers of war. She is said to be the last resort of the Kandar, who protected them from their early extinction thousands of years ago. Yet, she was also deemed the judge over who shall live and who shall give up on life, which gave her a bad image among the last remaining Kandar, as they thought she had given up on them. But even they have forgiven her before they went extinct.

Then there is a split interpretation among the gods children, Binde and Hendi. There are different views rather or not the two are twins or not, since no tale tells the same story about them. Some confirm it, some deny it, and some say things like 'they have been adopted' or at least one of them was. The tales and legends never gave a clear answer to it, but they are undoubtably the children of Kendu and Sheza. Binde is the god of peace and prosperity, patron god of farmers, but despite his peaceful attributes and things he watches over, he has been called rebelious and deviant from his parents. In some legends it is said that he led a rebellion against his father, to stop the war and bloodbath he leads. How that tale ends, is unknown. Hendi on the other hand is the goddess of the afterlife, patron goddess of fallen soldiers and guards, and said to be keen to follow her father's footsteps. Her tales tell primarely of heroism, the last stand or the relief the warriors have in the afterlife, finally resting after the hundreds of battles they have thought in. In the same story as Binde's rebellion, Hendi is said to have taken a stand against him, fighting alongside her father, but eventually listening to the words of the fallen, who tell her to have died for nothing.

Thus, our day of reseach was concluded. For the last entry, we are set to visit the islands around the mainland, and gather it's history and other stories.

Note by the CoP: We were informed about a national shutdown that lasts between 02.06. and the 04.06.. The reasons for the shutdown are deemed confidential by the Council of the People of the People's Republic of Wubdich and the gouvernment of The Federal Command of Kathol Rift. The last entry of the report has thus been postponed to the 5ht of June.

Report 05-06-20
(Last Upadted 22:49 local time by Dr. R. Wiese, leader of the exchange program.)

After being confined in high-security bunkers for a second time and for days this time, due to [DATA EXPUNGED], we wanted to move. And so we did. Since we have only seen the islands around the mainland from afar, we decided to take a closer look at them. We've heard and read in our history research about the Amethyst Islands a lot, so it was almost mandatory for us to take a look at them.

Thus, as the emergency was lifted, we boarded a ship the next day, and went on a visit to the aforementioned Amethyst islands. From southwestern peninsula, the same exact point where Alexhandler Khalon Hyrell, the leader of the enemy nation 'Hyrell' during the Hyrellian war, and his army set sail to the Amethyst Islands, conquering them the same week. Though the southwestern peninsula was under the control of Kathol Rift at that time, the Hyrellians had hidden here for years, until finally weighing ancor to the islands.

The islands are a nice and tropical archipelego, similiar to the caribean islands, with the addition of great structures and bridges connecting many of the islands. Though the tropical aspects is only harmed by that lightly, the scenery remains tropical and idyllic. Brutalist buildings create a sharp contrast to the beaches close by, but it has hight astheatic value in our eyes, which are used to the Soviet architecture back home. Occasionally the cities and towns spreaded around the islands' coast are, just like their mainland counterparts, made out of other styles of architecture, like imperial, futuristic or nation-specific styles. An entire town on the coast remembers of a caribean paradise.

One part of the island in particular is the most interesting. 'Destiny Shore'. On this shore, many events happened. Here, the first Kathol Riftian set foot on the islands, and built their first, non-permanent settlement. It was destroyed by a storm a long time ago, in the early years of colonization. The other most mentionable event was the invasion of the islands by Hyrell, which began here. Originally, a hyrellian base was constructed from scrap here, but it was demolished by a gouvernmental decision shortly after the end of the Hyrellian War. A single Obelisk, half the size of the surroundings trees however, remembers of the invasion here, though another, greater monument in the middle of the capital of the Amethyst Islands pays more respect to the warriors that fell during the aforementioned war.

The other significant collection of islands are the 'Shattered Islands'. A chain of inactive volcanic islands, looking like a shatered glass from a birds-eye-view, with hundreds of very small islands. Much like the Amethyst Islands, the Shattered Islands are connected by an extensive network of bridges, tunnels and larger buildings. According to historians, the islands were once a larger landmass, but it broke apart at round about the same time as the Kandar were hit by the earthquake that nearly wiped them out in 1,700 BCE. Large part of this landmass fell below sealevel and flooded in the end, with only the highest peaks still sticking out, creating the Shattered Islands. Today, some of these islands have even been replaced by or completely covered in technology.

Note by the CoP: Information in the report have from this point on deemed as confidential, due to military reasons and national secrets.

And thus, our program finished. It was truely a journey. A warrior nation, that despite it's looks, does care for it's patriotic and brave people. This nation is nation of honor, bravery and strength, that has great pride in it's history. And with it's diverse climate all over it's mainland, it displays a diverse enviroment fitting for any sort of vacation through the entire year, if military excersises or national emergencies don't occure. We all want to return to this nation once again in the future.

In the following days, we will return to our home nation with all the experience we have gathered and spread the word about the beauty of the nation.

End of report. End of the program.

-Dr. Robert Wiese

I won't though. I will probably just make credits underneath the pictures and say which nation is which, if more flags change.
