Kathol Rift wrote:Nobody knows who Rang’s father was. It’s not on any record, and his mother died before ever telling him. All that’s known is he was in the military in some fashion. Kayla has both her parents, thankfully.
Rang was doing a good job of burying his pain at his mother’s death, until is father figure died. Then he became a much more emotional person overall, and started having nightmares about losing both of them all the time.

Cetiri hasn't seemingly shown signs of being affected by the death of her mother... though, oddly, she switched her career from that of an Antarctic surveyor, to that of an armed police officer, it's where she got her cavalry pistol, and this was before she became Governor.

And that’s not counting the countless friends that Rang got to watch die during the war, or the several times he has nearly died himself, or the fact that he is constantly haunted by specters of a past enemy, who he doesn’t even know if the enemy is dead or alive.
