What do you all think about the monkeypox outbreak?

Hobbubobbia wrote:I'm confused, are you saying you're an anarchist or that you don't support any extant forms of government

I say that I consider any ideologies that have ever existed to be flawed, anarchy is their apogee.
Like the division into countries, I think it's nonsense, I'm not interested in all this squabbling. What I really care about is what happens next. Humanity must unite, our survival as a species depends on it.
Any ideology has some purpose and relies on something. At the moment there is no ideology capable of doing this. And I'm not sure if he'll ever show up. In my opinion, an external enemy is needed, it will strengthen and unite people. But what will happen next? Any ideology built on countering the enemy ceases to be effective and declines, taking civilization with it when the enemy disappears. Such an ideology puts a person on the path of interstellar expansion forever.
It is difficult for me to imagine what can lead humanity to a "bright future". I often think about this, and about what can be called a "bright future" in general, there are so many variables that cannot be taken into account.
Anything can be waiting for us. From eternal war to collective awareness of the meaninglessness of life and the destruction of the universe.

I also want to add that in addition to survival, it is important to preserve humanity. Sometimes cruelty is necessary. but there is no point in a world where there is only cruelty. Perhaps it's better to disappear than to turn into something terrible by all standards.

The translation may be lame, but I hope that you will understand what I wanted to say.

Only if it's marmosetpox or tamarinpox... If there's an outbreak of chimppox or- god forbid- gorillapox, we're out of luck.

I love golden lion tamarin! To be fair, squirrel monkeys are great too. Even if the Dutch name isn't: "skull monkey" (= Doodshoofdaapje)

Traditionally, yes. In NationStates, this is known by many as "The Summer Lull."

Did you know McDonald's Japan once had Nintendo make employee training software using a Nintendo DS game? They were carefully distributed to store owners all across Japan. The games all required passwords which were determined by each individual store owner. They even came with a unique McDonald's DS design. They became the rarest Nintendo DS' and DS games in the world, leaking out in small numbers to very dedicated collectors. Most of which did not have the password needed to get past the title screen. The few who did kept the contents of the game to themselves so as to maintain the game's value. The game usually sold at auction for upwards of $3000 (US.) I know what you're thinking, "Three grand for McDonald's employee training software? That's absurd!" And you are right, but it's also a piece of gaming history. I mean, McDonald's Japan trained employees with a freakin' Nintendo DS! It's such a Japan thing to do, lol. Somewhat recently, a YouTuber that focuses on preserving game history got his hands on a real, genuine physical copy of the game (with password,) which had to be smuggled through both Japan and US customs because it was during the pandemic, and dumped the rom so everyone can have it for free. It's not quite so rare anymore, but it's kinda cool.
