Eventually a balanced diet will have some benefits but they haven't implemented it yet. My people had nothing but milk today and they were fine.

Also, just so you guys don't make the same mistake: Energy Generation research was kind of a waste of money. You unlock the Oil Power Plant, which provides 350MW for $200m (compare to coal: 250MW/$150m). Its only slightly more efficient than coal, and once you consider 1) the opportunity cost of the extra $50m compared to the coal plant by the time you use up the extra 100MW and 2) the cost of research, its a waste. Maybe once power plants require a regular input of resources, it might be worth it depending on oil prices. But for now, don't bother.
