The Office's Analysis

With nations being sued in foreign countries causing numerous issues, i.e. implying the state in whose court the trial takes place to be in a superior position to the defendant nation, driving up international tension between the two and destabilizing the international community as a result, the at-vote resolution 'Sovereign Justice Accord' successfully tackles this difficult problem by setting up an international and impartial WA court system in a decent and well-written manner, defusing this diplomatic powder keg and securing a solid way for justice to be delivered for everyone - even those facing a nation in their dispute. Thus, OWL recommends a vote FOR 'Sovereign Justice Accord'.

Tepertopia is a Legislator in the South Pacific and an OWL senior staff member.

Tepertopia wrote:Member states should be accountable for their actions, and the proposal at hand sets up an international and impartial court system for considering civil lawsuits against member nations brought before it. After initial confusion about a passage of the proposal was cleared up, I think I can support this plan in good conscience, as it would pose another viable pillar for justice in the international community and secure legal rights of all entities in member states - and member states as such.

From the World

Cretox State is the Minister of WA Affairs in the North Pacific. On TNP's forums, they stated:

Cretox State wrote:Shifting the burden of administering international civil proceedings onto a by definition impartial body should provide for more streamlined and uniformly regulated access to justice in these situations, and the proposal seems to accomplish this adequately well. I'm all for more benefits to WA membership, and clamping down on abusive lawsuits in inherently biased fora certainly qualifies as such.

'Condemn The Land Of Kings And Emperors'
·

·

Background Information

Proposal title: 'Condemn The Land Of Kings And Emperors'
Author: Makdon
Purpose: To condemn The Land of Kings and Emperors for the many raids and invasions they have carried out and their perpetuation of anti-native rule in various regions.

Links

Vote .For.
·

The Office's Analysis

The current proposal at vote, Condemn The Land of Kings and Emperors, is a bigger improvement over the last proposal that was voted on to Condemn Ever-Wandering Souls. The Land of Kings and Emperors has a long history of openly invading regions and colonising them, and attacking defender-aligned regions. They object to any form of negative portrayal of their region, and have rebuffed several attempts at condemnation in the past. We feel people must recognise that The Land of Kings and Emperors is a region that frequently inflicts harm on many innocent communities through its destructive actions.

Cretox State wrote:While I'm not necessarily opposed to a condemnation of LKE in theory, this proposal in particular doesn't really warrant support outside of raiderz bad, in my opinion. [...] In general, I'm a bit confused by how the proposal was constructed. Why mention multiple failed attempts to invade Moldavia? Is LKE being condemned for incompetence? What's with the ratings? Is association with "brutal raiding regions" condemnable? We're associated with LWU, Osiris, and TBH- all "brutal raiding regions" according to this proposal. Why the inaccuracies in what regions LKE led occupations against? "oftentimes entering with the raiding forces or piling on to support later, including but by no means limited to Hogwarts, The Soviet Bloc, Ixnay, Canada, the Coalition of Catholic States, Region Inc, Equestria, the Atheist Empire, Forest, Philippines, Westphalia, Iran, SECFanatics, Dharma, Capitalist Paradise, Concosia, North Atlantic, St Abbaddon, Christmas, Anarchy, Japan, and ASEAN"- why is this in here?

Honeydewistania is a WA author and an OWL staff member. He posted the following on the drafting thread:

Honeydewistania wrote:I apologise - the accuracies aren’t numerous, but your [the author] proposal has other problems. (For example, condemning LKE for raiding Nazi territory??) But the inaccuracies are:
  1. stating that LKE led the raid against Hippiedom... but they didn’t. They had a supporting role, providing support for The Black Hawks.

  2. in the same clause, stating that LKE raided The Union. That’s also false, their close allies Albion did, and they merely supported. Again.

  3. also in the same clause, you claim Argartha was raided by the LKE. No region by that name has been invaded by any region ever.

  4. Osiris definitely did not reject all FRA influence, because they elected Tim Stark to the delegacy. He was Vice Chancellor and Arch-Chancellor, two rather senior positions.

As a newcomer to the TSP, I’m curious as to what Amerion’s and Aumeltopia’s original flags looked like before they were changed to ‘Endorse Amerion’ posters.

More tunes...

This one is one that I made...maybe sometime in spring or summer of 2019? Let's just say spring. Anyways, it was very much constructed as a driving mix, light on lyrics but heavy on tunes. A mix that makes me feel as if I'm flying through hyperspace as I weave through traffic as I listen...I remember one of the first times I heard this mix in my car, I was driving to friends' house for dinner, and it was raining somewhat moderately and as the rain poured down and the lights of the cars and city around sparkled through the fog and wet, I felt as if I was sizzling along the highway, soaring with the music beating in my head and singing in my ears. In other words, it's a mix that (to my ears) has a great and unique sound, although probably not to most of your tastes. It is a CD that I have never tired of listening to and has a sound that I love - electronic dance kinda? But not too heavy on the dance. Tracks 7 & 12 are particularly beautiful and I love them so. Anyways, enough of me rambling and let me present one of my all-time fav drive mixes, LinkTorie Says:

1. Algorithm - Muse
2. Sol - Alef
3. Glue - Bicep
4. Daylight(Amir Hussain Extended Mix) - Saad Ayub & Christina Soto
5. Vale - Bicep
6. Arguru - deadmau5
7. Serij - Kolsch / Gregor Schwellenbach
8. Seventeen Years - Ratatat
9. Lex - Ratatat
10. Old Flame (Extended Mix) - Steve Allen & Sue McLaren
11. Time Stands Still - Sappheiros
12. Sail the Stormy Waters (Extended Mix) - Neev Kennedy

📣 From the Press Secretary to the Supreme Delegate 📣

At 5:00 p.m. South Pacific Time today, the Admiral General and Supreme Leader, Amerion, took the oath of office and succeeded Aumeltopia as Delegate of the South Pacific.

ANNOUNCEMENT

NEW LOCAL COUNCILLORS GRANTED REGIONAL OFFICER POWERS

22 August 2020
Local Council,
Fudgetopia Government Center

Admiral Delegate General Amerion has instructed the South Pacific's Directorate of the World Factbook Entry to appoint Auphelia, Drystar, and Volaworand as interim Local Councillors.

This move gives effect to a Linkrecent injunction issued by the High Court where it was ordered that "the Election Commission certify the results of the Local Council election and declare interim winners, who shall hold office until such time as this appeal is concluded, so that the region is not unnecessarily stalled, waiting for the Court to publish the results of the appeal."

The A.D.G. looks forward to working cooperatively with the interim Local Council. He is most encouraged by the strong work of Legislators to resolve the current legal issues surrounding the conduct of gameside elections and hopes for a speedy resolution to what has no doubt caused much consternation for the gameside community.

The Delegate passes on his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the outgoing Local Councillor, Proctethia, and wishes them all the best for their future endeavours.

Colonel Llama,
Press Secretary to the Admiral Delegate General

OFFICE OF THE DELEGATE

Fellow South Pacificans,

May I take this opportunity to properly introduce myself to you. I am Admiral General Amerion, the ‘democratically elected’ Supreme Leader and Delegate.

Over the next several months, I hope to get to know each of you better as well as periodically update you on the major news of our region.

Before we begin, I'd like to extend a warm invitation to you if there is anything you would like to question/discuss/know/rant. My telegram box is always open! ^_^

It is with great regret that we farewell Nakarisaune who has tendered her resignation as Prime Minister and as a member of the Legislator Committee. Nakari has served this region with high distinction in numerous portfolios throughout the years and has been a tireless public servant. Unfortunately, much of her work for TSP has been behind the scenes and so we don't often see and get to laud the exemplary performance. Ultimately though, we are very fortunate to have benefited from Nakari’s efforts.

Please do take a moment of your time to message her your best wishes for her future endeavours.

The Election Commission will soon begin an election for a new Prime Minister. I encourage everyone interested in running or voting to join the Linkregional Discord channel to receive all the latest updates about the election.

The Council on Regional Security is pleased to announce the appointments of Auphelia, Concrete Slab, 073 039 109 032 080 111 112 112 121 (Poppy), and Rabbitz to the South Pacific Coral Guard.

The Coral Guard is a group of trusted nations who maintain a high-endorsement count and are one of the most crucial lines of defence against external and internal security threats alongside the Council.

Members of the Guard are permitted a higher dynamic endorsement count (currently at 590 as opposed to the regular cap of 491).

You can read more about the Coral Guard here.

Additionally, if you have not done so already, please endorse the Delegate (yours truly) and the members of the Council (Erinor, Farengeto, Kringalia, Pencil Sharpeners 2, PenguinPies, Sandaoguo, Qvait, and Tsunamy). This helps keep our Coalition secure and increases the endorsement cap.

—————

Thank you very much.

Amerion,

Delegate of the South Pacific,

His Supreme Majesty of all Ice Cream, Admiral-General Dentist Doctor Stewie G., the Magnificent Ultimate Leader of all of NationStates, King of Kings, Democratic President and Prime-Minister-For-Life, Invincible and All-Triumphant Lord Commander, Chief Ophthalmologist and board-certified Dermatologist of the South Pacific Special Forces, Brilliant Genius of Humanity, Noble Prize winner in everything but Peace, and Benevolent Oppressor and Ruthless Protector of the Expendable People of Amerion.

Prime Minister Nakarisaune, Chair of the Assembly Rabbitz, Chief Justice Kringalia, members of the Assembly, and fellow South Pacificans,

I am deeply honoured by this opportunity to serve as your Delegate. It is the highest responsibility that has humbled all those who have been entrusted with it and I speak sincerely from the heart when I say that I too feel this deep sense of duty.

Yesterday, in the Assembly and before an audience comprised of members of the government along with citizens from every island of our region, I took an Linkoath of office which I have since given a great deal of thought.

“… that I will faithfully discharge my duties as such to the best of my ability without fear or favour, affection or ill-will; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Coalition; and that I take this obligation freely, in good faith, and with full disposition, for the good of the Coalition of the South Pacific.”

These words which can often seem somewhat formal and perhaps unnecessary when spoken in portions do as a whole mean so much more. It speaks to the role of government and commitment we have all made to serve you as faithfully as we can in advancing this region we all call home. As Delegate, I pledge to you here and now that I will always be mindful of my duty to you, that I will as others have before me, continue to safeguard what is the oldest democracy in NationStates, and I hope you will lend me your support as I do so.

If I may, I would like to speak on another matter of great concern to not only us as South Pacificans but as citizens of the world. Beyond the vast seas that surround us, in lands some of us have yet to venture, there is a reality which for many has proven an immensely challenging one. One which will come to define a generation. I believe that in a region as large and as diverse as ours, there are no doubt those among us who have experienced these trials and tribulations firsthand. Indeed, it is all but certain that we have each been affected by the year that is 2020 in one way or another.

In this annus horribilis, our community has for me at least — and I suspect for many others as well — been like a lighthouse in a raging storm. By simply being who we are, by forging ahead with our community, whether it be on the regional message board or the channels of LinkDiscord, we have inadvertently offered a respite in a world which sorely needs it.

What I ask of you now, I ask not only as your Delegate but as your fellow South Pacifican and a human being. I ask that you continue to be kind to one another wherever and whenever you can. As nations, we don’t often see the faces or hear the stories behind the flags but they are there and some are in difficult circumstances today. As cheesy as it may be, one internet quote holds especially true in these uncertain times: kindness costs nothing but it can mean everything.

Thank you very much.
