Wow! Didn't know this before. Thanks for sharing!

Yw, just trying to spread some knowledge

Balnik and Brulafi

I don't know if this has been answered but do we operate off of the US dollar? Or is our currency gold backed?

What?

That is a good question! It would be nice to know how many qhontirrācs go in a Txan (or vice versa).

For convenience's sake, most people peg their currency value to the USD.

Miklania wrote:For convenience's sake, most people peg their currency value to the USD.

Makes sense.

Aizcona wrote:What?

I was wondering if the nations of the isles operate off of the USD or the gold standard.

Also anyone is free to use the Isles Freedom Network if they would like. I created it for nations that would usually have their media controlled, but still want to report happenings.

All that I ask is that you use it without bias or influence and refrain from posting your personal ads on it.

I'll refer to the value of Ioudaian drachma relative to USD OOC, but the drachma is backed by the full faith and credit of the goverment of Ioudaia, just like RL currencies are. Ioudaia does strike some gold and silver coins, but the metal content is worth far less than their face value (seigniorage).

Ngl, that's pretty accurate. Someone edit Cobra as the Bank of Gael and the protagonists as Gael countries.

I can't be the only one who has next to zero idea of what caused that crash.

This is taking much more time than I expected.

I'm not very strong in economy but to me it sounds like we'd suddenly all forget how to use language if someone burnt all the dictionaries :)

Sooo as part of the revamped Weinamese history, I was thinking of having a TWI Vietnam war with Weinam spilt into two. A commie north and capitalist south. Other nations would be welcome to fight on either side depending on political stance. I've set the war from 1962 - 1968, though that can be adjusted. Still very early stages of planning, but ideas, collabs, think tanks welcome.

It would be great if each nation did list the value of their currency in US dollars.

I would like to join in that

Done. Since Nhoor has a complicated currency system however, I managed so far to have Excel calculate Nhoor amounts into US$ but I have to think about the other way around...

Like Wellsia, Nhoor doesn't use the basic decimal system. But I would still like to know the value of the qhontirac in dollars or vice a versa.

I added it to Nhoor's main factbook; qh 1 = about 0.23 US$

Look at the updates that
Keep on arriving with
Such regularity
Every week!

TWI might, without them, be
Incomprehensible
Or at the least perhaps
Somewhat oblique

Every month, the office selects a dispatch posted within the month that it has deemed exceptionally unique, creative and informative and deserves the recognition it needs. The dispatch is then featured here, as part of our Dispatch of the Month program. As long as the original author of the dispatch is in this region and exists on our Regional Map, the dispatch meets our requirements for the program.

Is there a dispatch you know that you feel is worthy of the award? If so, please do not hesitate to inform our Officer of Recognition - the official organizer of the program - of it. The office very much appreciates such nominations, as we are unable to keep track of every dispatch within the region.

About the Dispatch of the Month

The Dispatch of the Month is a program launched and run by the Office of Information. As stated before, the program involves the office featuring a dispatch it likes and feels the need to commend. The program was done in order to stimulate regional activity, encourage creativity, improve writing skills, and boost the overall nationbuilding quality.

The following requirements need to be met in order for a dispatch to be eligible for nomination:

  • Author must be in the region and regional map

  • Dispatch will have to be posted within the month

We determine the Dispatch of the Month results through a number of criteria. Each are worth 10 points, and the highest total score you can achieve is 40. The criteria are:

  • Uniqueness: What makes it different from other dispatches and nominees.

  • Creativity: How original and creative the dispatch itself is.

  • Visual Appealingness: How appealing the dispatch is.

  • Information: How informative the dispatch is.

You can also nominate any dispatch (yes, even yours) so long that it meets our guidelines. This greatly helps us reach a larger number of dispatches and possible nominees. However, only the dispatch with the highest total points based off our criteria will claim the title of Dispatch of the Month.
