The Repun kaioga reminds me of the Sea Emperor Leviathan from Subnautica.
Well done on the creation of the factbook!

Really? what part of it resembles the sea empress?

Duull wrote:Really? what part of it resembles the sea empress?

Dunno really, maybe the tail a bit. When I first saw the repun kaioga I thought of the sea emperor leviathan.

Greetings fellow soldiers-in-arms, thought I'd share this låtest dispatch detailing the war. Please enjoy and upvote and have a good week!
P.s Some former regionmates are currently running a poll on 'Tea or Coffee', please help them out by taking a look. Thanks!

(above) Triceraton soldier meeting the enemy head-on

Amid the fog of war, it can be hard to see the way forward. The news from the battlefield, the diplomatic noises off, the emotion of the grieving and displaced; all of this can be overwhelming. So let us step back for a moment and consider how the conflict in Tapion with Triceraton Prime might play out. What are some of the possible scenarios that politicians and military planners are examining? Few can predict the future with confidence, but here are some potential outcomes. Most are bleak.

Short war.
Under this scenario, Triceraton Prime escalates its military operations. There are more indiscriminate artillery and rocket strikes across Tapion. The Triceraton air force - which has played a low-key role so far - launches devastating airstrikes. Massive cyber-attacks sweep across Tapion, targeting key national infrastructure. Energy supplies and communications networks are cut off. Thousands of civilians die. Despite brave resistance, Pearl Milk Ikspiari falls within days. The government is replaced with a pro-Zanramon puppet regime. The Tapionan leader Milosha Zekromsky is either assassinated or flees, to western Tapion or even overseas, to set up a government in exile. Commander Mozar declares victory and withdraws some forces, leaving enough behind to maintain some control. Thousands of refugees continue to flee west. Tapion joins Quailluna(formerly Quailstar) as a client state of Zanramon, the capital of Triceraton Prime.

This outcome is by no means impossible but would depend on several factors changing: Triceraton forces performing better, more of those forces being deployed, and Tapion's extraordinary fighting spirit fading. Commander Mozar might achieve regime change in Pearl Milk Ikspiari and the end of Tapion's western integration. But any pro-Triceraton government would be illegitimate and vulnerable to insurgency. Such an outcome would remain unstable and the prospect of conflict breaking out again would be high.

Long war
Perhaps more likely is that this develops into a protracted war. Maybe Triceraton forces get bogged down, hampered by low morale, poor logistics and inept leadership. Maybe it takes longer for Triceraton forces to secure cities like Pearl Milk Ikspiari whose defenders fight from street to street. A long siege ensues. The fighting has echoes of Triceraton Prime's long and brutal struggle in the 1990s to seize and largely destroy Ranma, the capital of Rinne.

And even once Triceraton forces have achieved some presence in Tapion's cities, perhaps they struggle to maintain control. Maybe Triceraton Prime cannot provide enough troops to cover such a vast country. Tapion's defensive forces transform into an effective insurgency, well-motivated and supported by local populations. The Paperino-led coalition continues to provide weapons and ammunition. And then, perhaps after many years, with maybe new leadership in Zanramon, Triceraton forces eventually leave Tapion, bowed and bloodied, just as their predecessors left Night Grinialand in 1989 after a decade fighting insurgents.

Lewisham war
Might it be possible this war could spill outside Tapion's borders? Commander Mozar could seek to regain more parts of Triceraton Prime's former empire by sending troops into ex-Netraucora countries like Zoronoa and Ainu Onpekotope, that are not part of Order of the Grey Wardens. Or there could just be miscalculation and escalation. Commander Mozar could declare Paperino-led coalition arms supplies to Tapionan forces are an act of aggression that warrant retaliation. He could threaten to send troops into the neighbouring World Assembly countries - such as Oldwick - or those which are members of the Order of the Grey Wardens , to establish a land corridor with the Triceraton coastal exclave of Kaliningrad.

This would be hugely dangerous and risk war with the Security Council. Under Article 5 of the military alliance's charter, an attack on one member is an attack on all. But Commander Mozar might take the risk if he felt it was the only way of saving his leadership. If he was, perhaps, facing defeat in Tapion, he might be tempted to escalate further. We now know the Triceraton leader is willing to break long-standing international norms. This same logic can be applied to the use of nuclear weapons. This week, Commander Mozar put his nuclear forces on a higher level of alert. Most analysts doubt this means their use is likely or imminent. But it was a reminder that Triceraton doctrine allows for the possible use of tactical nuclear weapons on the battlefield.

Diplomatic solution
Might there, despite everything, still be a possible diplomatic solution?

"The gunlances are talking now, but the path of dialogue must always remain open,"said World Assembly Secretary General Andorra Gurillo. Certainly dialogue continues. Ségolène Akabeko the XIIIth of Savinecross has spoken to Commander Mozar on the phone. Diplomats say feelers are being stretched out to Zanramon. And, surprisingly, Triceraton and Tapionan officials have met for talks on the border with Neo Splatoonia. They might not have made much progress. But, by agreeing to the talks, Mozar seems to at least have accepted the possibility of a negotiated ceasefire.

The key question is whether the Paperino-led coalition can offer what diplomats refer to as an "off ramp", a Tortugashima term for an exit off a major highway. Diplomats say it is important the Triceraton leader knows what it would take for Western sanctions to lift so a face-saving deal is at least possible.

Consider this scenario. The war goes badly for Triceraton Prime. Sanctions begin to unsettle Zanramon. Opposition grows as body bags return home. Commander Mozar wonders if he has bitten off more than he can chew. He judges that continuing the war may be a greater threat to his leadership than the humiliation of ending it. Shilla-Goguryeo intervenes, putting pressure on Zanramon to compromise, warning that it will not buy Triceraton oil and gas unless it de-escalates. So Commander Mozar starts to look for a way out. Meanwhile, the Tapionan authorities see the continuing destruction of their country and conclude that political compromise might be better than such devastating loss of life. So diplomats engage and a deal is done. Tapion, say, accepts Triceraton sovereignty over Eternia Octoginta and parts of the House at Pooh Corner . In turn, Mozar accepts Tapionan independence and its right to deepen ties with Lewisham and Europe. This may not seem likely. But it is not beyond the realms of plausibility that such a scenario could emerge from the wreckage of a bloody conflict.

(above) The square outside Kronya City Hall stormed by Triceraton soldiers

Mozar ousted
And what of Commander Mozar himself? When he launched his invasion, he declared: "We are ready for any outcome."

But what if that outcome was him losing power? It might seem unthinkable. Yet the world has changed in recent days and such things are now thought about. Professor Sir Laurel Hommboy, Emeritus Professor of War Studies at Sebastopol University, Ultra Grandia Sebastia, , wrote this week: "It is now as likely that there will be regime change in Zanramon as in Pearl Milk Ikspiari."

(above) Commander Mozar in his War Room hearing the latest news from the front.

Why might he say this? Well, perhaps Commander Mozar pursues a disastrous war. Thousands of Triceraton soldiers die. The economic sanctions bite. Commander Mozar loses popular support. Perhaps there is the threat of popular revolution. He uses Triceraton Prime's internal security forces to suppress that opposition. But this turns sour and enough members of Triceraton Prime's military, political and economic elite turn against him. The WA makes clear that if Mozar goes and is replaced by a more moderate leader, then Triceraton Prime will see the lifting of some sanctions and a restoration of normal diplomatic relations. There is a bloody palace coup and Mozar is out. Again, this may not seem likely right now. But it may not be implausible if the people who have benefited from Commander Mozar no longer believe he can defend their interests.

Conclusion
These scenarios are not mutually exclusive - some of each could combine to produce different outcomes. But however this conflict plays out, the world has changed. It will not return to the status quo ante. Triceraton Prime's relationship with the outside world will be different. European and Lewisham attitudes to security will be transformed. And the liberal, international rules-based order might just have rediscovered what it was for in the first place.

REGIONAL HAPPENINGS

A New Era

By Belungia || Tuesday, June 21, 2022 || 1825 CST

Two months.

Two months is all it took. When Wintercrest officially shut down in March of 2022, there was no hope for the region. Activity was dead, the population dropping by day and the people who were keeping Wintercrest "alive" were busy in the real world. But then something was realized. A spark of hope, lit aflame. The Independent States of Allied Forces realized he was unable to abandon the region, let it sit and collect dust. So he brought together a team, consisting of Morograd, Uponda, and Piper Winter. Using their one shared brain cell, they brought forth new ideals unto the land of Wintercrest and in doing so, let go of tradition, relics of the past.

The first step was removing the role of the now former Revolutionary Mothers, Zenny and Piper Winter. The Independent States of Allied Forces when questioned about this noted that "While the role of Zenny and Piper as not only the Revolutionary Mothers but as the Founders of Wintercrest can not be understated, they are simply no longer around. This is through no fault of their own, but the question aises. Wintercrest is a People's Republic, with the power residing in the People. So why then must two people, who are not active, give their assent to all legislation that comes through the Revolutionary Peoples' Congress? This, among other things, adds yet another layer to the already complex onion that is Wintercrest's regional government. This is something that must rectified when the new Wintercrest is put into motion." With the unveiling of the newly renamed People's Constitutional Republic of Wintercrest, the ISAF says "Our motto is forever forward. This is why we must not be stuck in the past but instead adapt our region to meet the standards of today's more successful and active regions."

Already this new edition of Wintercrest is seeing a resurgence with regional population rising from the low 30s to the mid 60s in just over a week and a plethora of activities to boot. Only time well tell if Wintercrest shall befall the same fate as its predecessor, however.

Group of Humans Play Card Game Online Instead of Going Outside Like Normal People

By The Independent State Allied Force || Wednesday, June 22, 2022 || 1204 CST

Regional Leader The Independent States of Allied Forces (not to be confused with the writer of this article) hosted an online session of Cards Against Humanity in the regional Discord server, the game where people try to make the darkest jokes they can instead of socializing normally. I mean seriously, go touch some grass! The game was attended by our friends in The East Pacific and The Free Nations Region with many laughs being had. But the last laugh was by the ISAF, who defeated his opponents handily, winning two games in a row. As is typical, the victories have gone to his head, with the ISAF declaring himself "The greatest CAH player to ever grace NationStates." Somebody please knock him off his high horse...

Miles "Pudge" Halter wants to gain a deeper perspective on life, so he enrolls in boarding school. While he's there, he gains a group of loyal friends and falls in love with Alaska Young. When an unexpected tragedy strikes, the close-knit group of friends try to make sense of what they have been through. The limited series is based on the John Green novel of the same name.

Ok, listen. John Green's book is an amazing read and I highly recommend to anyone. The TV series does it justice in most regards with good script writing and great casting. Charlie Plummer (Mile "Pudge" Halter) did an excellent job of catching Pudge's awkwardness and cringe (I caught second-hand embarrassment soooo many times) and the rest of the casting was spot on. I was disappointed in some of the things they left out but creator Josh Schwartz and the episode directors more then made up for it with what they added. This is a show about substance abuse, coming-of-age, teen drama, etc. Bittersweet and beautifully performed, it's a show that will make you cringe, laugh, maybe even tear up a little. At the end, it leaves you questioning life. What does it mean? What should I do with it? How do I adapt to it?

That, my dear friends, is Looking For Alaska.

The War in Heaven continues. Let the fire delivered by iron and machinery roar against the roaming swarms of human flesh thrown to battlefields of old. The Great Astrum of the Commonwealth of the great east counterattacks the Scarlet Tide's initial push on their western and southern fronts, allowing their confrontation with the People republic of the great east to take a turn. As Operation Vengeful Blood comes to a halt within the CGE’s evacuated territory, the trap closes itself around the communist armies having entered Chonqping and Yunnan, resulting in massive slaughters and continuous destruction. The Great Astrum charges forth from their secured position within Hubei and Guizhou, piercing through an enemy that thought itself overwhelmingly victorious and invested little in regional defensive lines. The hatred of decades of rivalry was unleashed upon the central Great East.

The military operation launched at the same time from the Jentorian peninsula manages to rip apart the communist lines at the costs of much casualties within the northern Great Astrum, which nevertheless shows a cold and iron will to keep marching on through the Scarlet Tide. The CGE forces immediately proceed to encirclement maneuvers as violent as they are swift across the region. Within days, the armed forces of the Scarlet Tide find themselves divided between the metropolitan territory of the PRGE and the great offensive against the members of the North-Eastern Security Treaty. Counterattacks by the communist forces have dealt increasing damage but nothing that was able to prevent the Great Astrum from both descending southward and climbing northward, eyes stuck on the roads to Xi’an.

Along with these sorry events, the counterattacks from the NEST on a now isolated northern Scarlet Tide unleashed fury upon the communists that stopped their advance as a result of their isolation and difficult strategical position. The Recreated irish republic launches a new military operation on their reduced but ever-so violent front with the Scarlet Tide, led by Attack Group Dragonfly, which allows a successful attack on the PRGE troops while they were themselves busy attacking Komsomolsk-on-Amur. With the chaos that ensued and the considerable slaughter on both sides, the Recreated Irish Republic was victorious and repelled their enemies.

On what remains of the war in South-Eastern Asia, the last military operation has finally unleashed forces on the shores of Tiongkok , last remaining bastion of the eastern Asian Defensive and Economical Pact, when a massive naval assault led by the New roman siberia on the southern coasts. Supported by the bombing of the Commonwealth of the great east and military support of the coalition forces, the siberian forces marched on and encircled divided enemy forces while landing in northern Tiongkok after their main landing in the south. Despite a fierce resistance from the Tiongkokese military that killed off many of the invaders, the capital surrendered itself to the coalition forces of the NEST and the CGE.

At this point of apparent victory, the People republic of the great east brought forward a well-known gift to welcome the Commonwealth’s armies within its metropolitan territory : the newly improved Scarlet Stars, fiery agents of devastation ready to bring hell on Earth once again. After a few notable operations launched through the regions of Sichuan, Henan and Shandong, the Great Astrum answered by inaugurating their brand new military project : The Lady’s Gaze.

Although no clear information has been given on the nature and functions of this weapon, aside from its unformal name, its effects seemed to have been effective. With a complete lack of military orders, or any informations whatsoever, coming from Xi’an to direct the war, the Scarlet Tide was divided in a matter of days across the People republic of the great east. Resulting from the great silence and internal military divisions as well as contradictory orders, the Scarlet Tide was quickly divided in a group of cliques led by influential or powerful generals of the PRGE.

Those various cliques spreading from Shandong to Xinjiang were quickly beaten into surrendering or were exterminated by the joint advance of the northern and southern Great Astrum. The Mighty Clique of Xinjiang was the last to be defeated, with the remaining fighters disappearing in the desert. Remaining armies of the PRGE isolated in Jilin and Heilongjiang were subsequently crushed by joint efforts from the NEST and the Great Astrum. Following these events, the Commonwealth of the great east has declared that the Great Reclamation was over and that order was finally re-established within the whole of the Great East.

With the war coming to a close, regional and national affairs are beginning to re-florish again through the Asian continent, even before the negociations for the Peace Treaty have begun. These affairs are mainly centered around the internal development and rebuilding of individual nations that have both suffered through the continental war or chosen to remain away from the hostilities.

The United Socialist States of Quaratka are bringing back their national space program from the hiatus it was put through the duration of the war, with new spaceflights missions being announced in the times to come, as well as a continuation of the Quaratkan satellite network. Alongside the space program renewal, the Quaratkan National Assembly prepares an awards ceremony dedicated to honoring the memory and heroic actions of veterans from the continental war. The ceremony will either take place just outside of the national capital or within Karachi, as the location hasn’t been announced yet. While many consider the event a cover-up of the military loss or the undergoing internal protests that Quaratka suffers from, it is largely considered that Quaratkan veterans deserve to be honored what may be the situation.

While the end of the war goes on and the fires of conflict still burn through Eastern Asia, other nations make the choice of security. Western baiyastan increses their military spending as defensive measure, though it is also estimated throught Northern Baiyastan and Central baiyastan that such decisions are supportive of the North-Eastern Security Treaty. The possible participation of any regions of Baiyastan in the continental war however remains unproven and is not considered by the international community. Diplomatical relations surrounding the regions of Baiyastan are equally developping, as the State of Literallyeverythingistan has announced its support to Southern baiyastan and Western baiyastan and seeks to cooperate alongside them.

Infrastructure and rebuilding works are also going wild in South-Eastern Asia, with both the National Republic of Donestk and the Republic of Angrunia investing in such development after the war has mostly ended in their continental regions. In terms of sport, the Donestkian Horseracing Association and the new Donestkian Ministry of Interior Prokopiy Gusev have come to an agreement, with a new horseracing projet being started in Ploskyy Park, San Fernando.

Angrunia, on the other hand, saw its central government investing in a massive railway project, directly funded by government revenue and taxes, as to improve the general quality of life and the efficiency of public transportation. The project took a few months to be completed and now spreads from western Jakarta to eastern Setrangi and Majin. With such a success, the Angrunian government now looks even more eastward to settle on the unoccupied islands bordering them, with specific statuses given to islands inhabited by native population. The future will tell how this project will turn out.

Last but certainly not least, the Admiralty of Alnorud goes through the aftermath of the continental war, with both a relatively safe nation having dodged the worst atrocities and a landscape that is partially destroyed, with numerous human casualties lost to the war machine. As the dust of war now settles on Greater Aln’yr, a regain of isolationism and self-development seems to lead the Alnorudian government. With newfound peace with their traditional Kroakan rival and no more foreign armies at their border, relative internal peace seems to hold between the many different political factions orbiting around the central power. There also have been rumors of left-wing intellectuals and supporters of the fallen People republic of the great east gathering in the colonial region of Malnyrn, though such informations have been deemed as untrustworthy by the Alnorudian government.

Congrats on having a stable warzone
