The first thing I need to know is what the hell is a Pony fanfiction site? What kinda Pony Fanfiction are you into? Give us some examples

I'm young but part-Filipino, and a mandatory condition of being Filipino is using Facebook. *shrug*

————————

It's exactly what it is. Fanfiction about ponies. Well, ponies from My Little Pony, to be precise, in case you've forgotten. Fimfiction is actually very user-friendly, as you can see here: https://www.fimfiction.net/

As for what I read... well, I read a wide variety of things. If it seems interesting to me, and it passes my two major conditions, 1) Good grammar & 2) No unexplained out-of-character behavior, then I give it a whirl.

Examples, huh? Uhh... I have hundreds of stories in my bookshelves (think personal YouTube playlists), so... let me dive in my "Great" bookshelf.

*goes through bookshelf* Oh my, this many over time... You know not what you've opened, Tiku. Prepare to meet thy doom to a list of excruciating length, for thou hath opened Pandora's Box!!! (Psst, I'd really like if someone gives one of these a read, because I already know I'm gonna expend considerable effort here. If not... I'll be disappointed *sad puppy eyes*)

I've done my best to trim it down to the best of the best and make it as relatable as possible, but as I'd also like to give as many options as possible... you'll see.

First off, in a special place, is Stardust (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/100455/stardust). An XCOM crossover, it's a major part of what sucked me in to Fimfiction and MLP as a whole. A pony is sent to XCOM, dear trigger-happy and xenophobic XCOM, after essentially making a deal with the Devil as part of a bet to show the power of friendship. There, she works her cute, adorable charms and helps. It's a great story with over 5,000 likes in a site where having a couple hundred is a success.

Continuing with sci-fi crossover theme, next we have Halo: The Interlopers (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/31807/halo-the-interlopers). As you might have guessed, this is a Halo crossover, with humans and sangheilli encountering the pony planet. 480 likes, so not as famous as Stardust, but hey, Halo, and crossovers are a good way to get people interested, I reckon.

A bit different but still a crossover, next is The Maretian (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/396744/the-maretian). It's a pun on The Martian, the book with which it crosses. It's one of my personal favorites, combining good writing with a very plausible story. Creatures from Equus's own combined space mission are stranded together with Mark Watney on Mars after a experimental teleporting space engine malfunctions, and together they must find a way to survive while until the ever-dimming hope of rescue becomes a reality while also dealing with a First Contact situation.

Now, I have two non-crossover sci-fi's on hand. First is the Arrow 18 Mission Logs: Lone Ranger (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/13616/arrow-18-mission-logs-lone-ranger), where a lone human is stranded on Equus after a mission successfully failed; lots of ponies-human interaction here. The other is Voyage's End (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/151748/voyages-end), which explores a scenario where ponies come into posession of the Voyager probe.

That's all the science bits. Let's go with comedy. Now, this here requires a bit of explanation. One of the characters, Princess Luna, returned from a 1000 year exile TO THE MOON!!!!!! (inside joke) after a brief stint as a jealous villain, so her dialogue is... outdated. Luna's Gay Olde Day (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/325663/lunas-gay-olde-day) is a fic that takes that idea and squeezes the ever-loving fun out of it. Hey, any of you have dogs? Is it female? How's your bitch doing? Haha... ha...

Twilight is a Zombie (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/316928/twilight-is-a-zombie) will make a good segue into our next genre. A romance comedy, this is... just read it. Can't describe without spoilers. It's funny, jolly, and fluffy, a good pick-me-up.

The romance fics I'll be introducing here are written by Monochromatic (https://www.fimfiction.net/user/121767/Monochromatic). Mostly writing romance involving Twilight and Rarity, I could sing praises about her heart-warming-shattering-repairing-breaking-healing-playing writing for a good paragraph or three, it's that good. A two-fic series exploring the difficulties of immortality and romance, we have Injuring Eternity (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/167615/injuring-eternity) and The Last Train Home (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/388215/the-last-train-home). No description of mine can do these justice, I think, so for yo romance fans out there... give these a whirl.

I'll be diving into a bit of an oddity here. Austraeoh (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/25966/austraeoh) is 212,744 words long. An average novel, yeah? Well, it's just the start of a saga that, though not receiving an update since 2018, is still worth reading; a saga of mystery, a wide expansive world, adventure, loss, and a quest; a saga that spans three million six-hundred forty-one thousand two hundred twenty (3,641,220) words over 9 books with appropriately mysterious titles. The only description? Rainbow Dash flies east.

Now, from here on out we'll be diving into gloomy territory. Sad, dark, you name it.

Let's start off with a bit of lightness in the dark. Antiquarian (https://www.fimfiction.net/user/315708/Antiquarian) is another great author who writes war stories, both during it and of its aftermath. A good portion of his fics are tributes to soldiers and veterans; not patriotic propaganda, but tributes to the people who lived and, often, died for their country. The main major story he's working on right now, A 14th Century Friar in Celestia's Court (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/400840/a-14th-century-friar-in-celestias-court), isn't a tribute, though it definitely will involve conflict. I say will because it's still being written, updates coming slowly but steadily. Even with its incomplete status, it is an amazing read. A 14th century friar, formerly of the Templars and now of the Hospitallers, is unexpectedly sent to fulfill a divine mission in Equestria. He gains new friends even as ancient shadows from Equestria's past rise once again, and perhaps the key to defeating them lies in the Friar... Equal parts intrigue, politics, and funny characters with wit, this is a great story, counted among my personal favorites.

A similar story, or should I say long poem, is Mare of the Equestrian Eighth (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/316889/the-mare-of-the-equestrian-eighth). A tribute written to soldiers in the name of Equestria, it is something I recommend for not only its unique format but also its length. (No, it's not written by Antiquarian.)

Twilight, oh my beloved Twilight. In Memory Of (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/67031/in-memory-of) is a sadfic. A well written one. This is presented in the form of letters written by Twilight. Soon, however, things go wrong, and mistakes are made. Little things, at first. Maybe Twilight just didn't sleep in a long time, the silly mare; I know she's an A+ pony and she's Princess Celestia's personal student, but she doesn't need to push herself so hard. Then one day...

Those Weaker Ripples (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/453667/those-weaker-ripples) is in a similar vein, though in a more orthodox form. Twilight has tea with Spike, a dragon she's known since birth, one of the closest beings to her. "I'm Princess Celestia's most faithful student, did you know that?" My tears...

The City Must Survive (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/423866/the-city-must-survive) is a dark and sad crossover with Frostpunk, a game where you must manage a city in the dead of an unnatural winter with scarce and dwindling resources. The grim calculus of necessity is in full force, and it cares not for puny emotions and feelings. The problem is, those emotions and feelings don't care for necessity either...

A Great Endeavor (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/63084/a-great-endeavor) is a story in which Equestria, though isolationist, is present on Earth. Then, WWII happens, and suddenly isolationism isn't the best way to go about... Watch WWII with ponies, in all its horrible glory.

The Immortal Game (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/1886/the-immortal-game). This is grimdark. Not dark. Grimdark. The Ancient Gods have returned to Equestria, older than the country, older than the Princesses who have ruled it for millennia. And they demand their rightful place and the restoration of the natural order. All hope seems lost: the Elements of Harmony, Equestria's trump card and symbol of hope, useless with one of its bearers turned; a Princess, killed; countless ponies, dead. What lay in store for the future, and can the remaining Bearers survive, much less fight back?

I said The Immortal Game was grimdark. Well, it can't hold a candle to SPECTRUM (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/374221/spectrum). Part of a controversial sub-genre called The Conversion Bureau (TBC for short), wherein ponies convert humanity, part or whole, to ponies, either with diplomacy, necessity, or force. The first two are rare, and a majority of stories involve wholesale war between ponies and humans, usually ending with overwhelming victory on either side. What makes SPECTRUM unique, besides its quality, is the fact that sure, there's an evil, imperialistic Equestria on the verge of curb stomping humanity and wiping it out, but then another Equestria, Equestria-as-it-should-be, makes contact. Or should I say, a human soldier accidentally makes contact and nearly causes an interdimensional incident in his confusion. Read as Equestria finds out the atrocities of the Empire and, in its horror and righteous anger, declares war on the Empire and prepares to fight their own. Being updated.

There's another major genre I haven't mentioned and should: clop. AKA porn. Eh, if you want that please search for yourselves. :ajsmug:

Now, while this is a long list, it doesn't come close to containing every great fic on fanfiction. My Little Dashie (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/1888/my-little-dashie) is popular, the most liked story on Fimfiction with a whopping 12,684 likes, though personally I didn't particularly like it. There are many great horror stories and "grimdark for the sake of grimdark" stories, but since I don't read them that much I haven't any examples, unfortunately. I will also mention Fallout: Equestria (https://www.fimfiction.net/story/119190/fallout-equestria), a crossover fic with Fallout which many readers swear by, which with its 9,736 likes stands as the 3rd most liked story on the site, and though due to the presence of certain elements I haven't read it, I would still recommend it for those who are interested as it does seem like an objectively amazing story.

I hope this answers your request, Tiku, and I swear to Celestia that if you don't read at least one of these I'll die inside because do you know how much effort and time I put into this single post?!

Is linkedin an actual social network? I thought it was mainly for work stuff. I'm surprised tiktok is not on that list or is that too zoomer? I wanna say reddit is mine...but it turned horrible in the last few years.

Particle, Gamhound, Serjo, Incantata phantasia, & Prunasia, Outside NS none of you use ANY Social Media? Seriously?

You guys don't even use Facebook??? How do people check up on you? Old friends? Old workmates? School friends? Other HUMAN BEINGS?

You asked which one is our favourite. I use tumblr the most but you didn't list it, followed by discord.

>> inside joke “TO THE MOON!!!!”

Wow! She must’ve drank a lot of soy sauce to have made that journey! (I may know the origin of the “inside” joke~)

My method of contact with the rest of the world beyond six close friends and immediate family are: my best friend and neighbour (if you can consider someone who lives three flats down a neighbour), my email address, NS, Discord, Whatsapp, and over food.

Beyond these, I don’t hold conversations with others unless necessary.

Heh, Friendship is Witchcraft. I haven't seen that one myself, but I've heard things about it.

I'm laughing right now at how "BEING A PONY NATION" is explicitly mentioned in the current Security Council resolution, even though it feels like it's not absolutely necessary.

"Seconds ago: Following new legislation in Thembria SSR, environmental officials dismiss uncontrolled wildfires burning down major cities as nature taking its course." - The Malevolent 🔥 Storm of Thembria SSR

They just narrate and animate other fanfics. One i like is their version of 'rainbow factory', which they renamed as a joke.
