July Elections

Scheduled elections took place in July for the positions of Senator for Himes West (roleplay) and Senator for Lyonnesse East (houses).

Wille-Harlia of TCP defeated Krystalveil of WIP with 40 votes to 20 to become Senator of Himes West.

Free Las Pinas (MSPP), Thedairos (TCP), and Haivon (WIP) all entered the first race for Lyonnesse East with the conclusion resulting in a runoff between Thedairos and Free Las Pinas as no candidate reached a 50% majority of votes. The ensuing run-off resulted in a tie that then triggered a vote by the Council of Nine to select the new senator, all of this culminating to the election of Thedairos as Senator of Lyonnesse East.

XKI thanks Marxist germany and The United Royal Islands of Euramathania for their previous service. Congratulations to the winners and commiserations to the other candidates.

New Government Appointments

~ July saw the transition of the Culture Office over to now Cultural Officer Grea Kriopia after HumanSanity's resignation following the end of the XKI Summer Olympics.
~ HumanSanity didn't go far though, as he was appointed by Chief Executive Markanite to serve as the first President of the XKI Cards Co-op.
~ As the Co-op President, HumanSanity gained Free Las Pinas and HN67 as Cards Co-op administrators to help oversee the new venture.
~ Free Las Pinas was also brought on as Casino Shift Manager with last month's Casino revitalization and as Deputy Senator for Lyonesse East following the election of Thedairos
~ Senator Grea Kriopia brought on Wischland as Deputy for Blue Canaria North to aid in the creation of this report.
~ Delegate Kuriko hired Ignis cinere onto the TIBOE team as an official endorser to help boost and maintain endorsements.
~ The evergrowing FA team saw HumanSanity made emissary to Founderless.
~ Our Minister of Education The tasmanian islands sought a new Deputy after the election of Wille-Harlia and hired Pacifical.
~ Senator Wille-Harlia also hired Central russia and Margaux as Deputies for Himes West.

Around the Islands

~ Wille-Harlia was named LinkRookie of the Quarter for his exceptional work as a TITO member, Recruiter, and Deputy Minister of Education, among other positions, as well as his outstanding contributions to the forum and A Taco Archipelago's RMB. Congratulations Wille-Harlia!
~ Islanders enjoyed a multitude of potato-based dishes alongside residents of Spiritus, at a LinkPotato Potluck celebration of Kuriko and The Salaxans' achievements as WA Secretary-General and Vice Secretary-General. All participants are several potato recipes richer, with a few even being lucky enough to receive Kuriko and The Salaxalans trading cards.
~ The XKI Card Co-op is making good progress under the guidance of Cards Co-op President HumanSanity, with plans for a transfer card-sharing system and a mentorship program. The hard work of Co-op members has already facilitated the card rewards for several of this month's events.
~ July's LinkFeatured Nation was Free Las Pinas, whose exceptionally high activity in XKI, alongside their work as an Ambassador, TITO member, and Recruiter makes them more than deserving of this honor. Keep up the good work!
~ Cultural Officer Grea Kriopia gave Islanders a chance to express what real-world sights reminded them of NationStates in a LinkPhotography Competition. Congratulations to Wischland for her 1st place Miniatur Wunderland photo, Wille-Harlia for his tasty 2nd place S'more photo, and Eastern New England for their charming Honorable Mention coastal photo.
~At the end of the month, Hakketomat announced XKI's first-ever LinkTacoVision! Inspired by Eurovision, over a dozen eager nations have already submitted songs. Voting begins early August, so be on the look-out for the competition's results in next month's report.

XKI Game-Side

A July regional poll by Jabberwocky forced Islanders to pick a superpower, but clearly all of the disastrous time travel movie plots did not deter many.

July held some contentious topics but here are some more lighthearted posts from this month...

Meet A Nation Interview

This month's edition features an interview with one of the newest elected Senators in XKI, Wille-Harlia, on their time in XKI and future plans for roleplay in the region. Aside from their senate seat, WH also serves as an Emissary, Cultural Office Assistant, Deputy Cartographer, and TITO Member.

GK: Let's start with some of your time here. Being a more recent addition to the Islands, could you talk a bit about what attracted you to XKI?

WH: First, the recruitment telegram I received seemed the most sincere of all of them, and offered the most things. Once I got to XKI, the warm welcome I received was amazing, and no question was stupid. The same thing on the forum and the Discord. Then, when I got into some jobs where I could show my thanks, I knew I would stay for good.

GK: Since you mentioned you liked the variety of things XKI offered, have you developed any favorite activities/hobbies in your time here?

WH: There are some hobbies I have here in XKI. One is RPing in ATA with all the other regular ATAers. One hobby I used to have was refreshing to the Job Opportunities page every day for new jobs I’d be interested in. But I don’t really do that anymore now as I have enough jobs. I will also occasionally Debate in the politics section of the Discord, and I also play in the XKI Minecraft server.

GK: Speaking of hard work, you recently faced your first ever election in XKI, how do you feel now looking back at it?

WH: I was recently elected the Himes West Senator, in charge of RP. Looking back on that campaign, I think I did everything right, but I didn’t even use half of my paid advertisements. I think that once I took an early 15 vote lead, I had it won, but there was still good competition from Krystalveil, as we had very similar platforms.

GK: Could you outline some of your goals for the future of RP in XKI?

WH: I have two goals for XKI RP. The first is to improve the quality of RP in the XKI RP region of A Taco Archipelago. The second is to revive the forum and Discord RP.

GK: Big goals! Are there any future projects you can tease our readers about in regards to RP?

WH: On the Discord, I can tease an Insanity RP event, on the forum, a medieval and a WW3 event, and in ATA, a whole plethora of events that will make up an RP event with a common enemy for all.

GK: Very interesting, what are you most excited for in the future of RP?

WH: I am most excited to see the results of my attempts!

GK: For sure. Lastly, what do you think the biggest challenge will be in regards to your work in RP?

WH: This a challenge that will take thinking to overcome: How to get the game side RPers on the forum and Discord.

Until next month, your XKI Update Staff is signing off - Grea Kriopia and Wischland

Forest has some significant news! Ruinenlust (our long-time foreign minister) has replaced Ransium as our WA delegate. This was planned and voluntary, Ransium decided to step down due to the upcoming birth of a child and Ruinenlust was the logical successor as he is one of the older Foresters and was number two in endorsements. He has my full confidence as a successor and I wish him well!

Regarding the Delegacy

Greetings, Foresters

Today is a momentous day in the history of Forest.

On June 9th 2007, Ransium was elected our WA Delegate. In the 13 years, 75 days that have passed since then, Forest has grown from a tiny corner of NationStates to a large and influential member of the game’s community, commended by the Security Council, and home to hundreds of nations. In that time his service has overlapped with the real-world terms of three US Presidents, five UK Prime Ministers, and seven Australian Prime Ministers (among many others). Technology and the environment have changed dramatically. The first iPhone, for example, wasn’t released to the public until about three weeks after Ransium took up the delegacy – now we’re in the middle of E-Waste Awareness Month largely due to the environmental impact of these devices! Consumer LED light bulbs for your home fixtures, a staple of many of our homes given our eco-minded nature, had not even had a standard written yet. Heck, two entire very real countries have come in to being during Ransium’s time in office – in these nations, their entire government has existed for less time than he has been performing his duties for us as our delegate.

After this remarkable amount of time – time which in addition to serving as our Delegate has seen Ransium write 25 game issues, 5 WA resolutions, 5 SC resolutions, become an Issues Editor, become a Game Moderator, and be personally commended – it is my honor and duty to report that Ransium has chosen to step down from the position of WA Delegate for Forest.

I don’t think there are enough words for me, or any of us, to properly credit Ransium for his efforts on our behalf, so I will simply say this: Thank you. Deeply, and from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for what you have done for us. We look forward to your continued presence in the region, and wish you a peaceful retirement!

What Happens Next?

Per Article 3.4 of our Constitution, the power to appoint the Delegate belongs to the Forest Keeper. This is absolutely not an authority I ever hoped or expected to use, as Ransium is as much a part of Forest as anyone could be, but at his request and with Errinundera’s approval, I initiated the process of identifying a replacement. We have been quietly working on things in the background for some time, and I can now announce that Ruinenlust will be taking over the role of WA Delegate for Forest

Ruinenlust is one of the longest-resident nations in all of Forest, and for the last three years has been in charge of our foreign affairs office. He is a familiar face to both Foresters and our allies, and has repeatedly demonstrated a true commitment to our region. He is a talented and thoughtful writer of NS content, and has provided endless good advice and wise counsel during our time working together. His selection was approved by both Ransium and Errinundera, and I hope you will join me in fully supporting him as he transitions to the delegacy.

Actions to take

1) Any WA nation that has not yet endorsed Ruinenlust, please do so now!

2) You will see the accounts of the officers removing their endorsements from Ransium, in order to reduce his endo-count to a number lower than that of Ruinenlust. We will also be reaching out to some of you personally to request your assistance with this. Ransium is remaining in the WA, and we by no means are trying to remove all his endorsements – just enough to ensure there’s no danger of inadvertent juggling of the post. If you wish to remove yours as well temporarily to aid in this, that is fine, but the long-term goal is just a small reduction, not mass dropping.

3) We will be preparing a formal “public announcement” for our allies and other interested nations in the coming days, once the transfer is secure. It is likely that it will be noticed anyway, which is completely fine, but we’ll make a point of declaring it once things are looking stable.

Ruinenlust has agreed to continue handling the position of Foreign Affairs Branch for the remaining month of our present term in office, but has indicated a desire to step back from that to focus completely on delegate duties thereafter. Middle Barael is continuing as usual in the ambassador management role, and I will be on hand to assist with any diplomatic duties if needed for the remaining duration of my term.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send me a telegram.

I remain your humble servant,
Verdant Haven
Forest Keeper

#Vote4Indusse Trends in India as The Conservative Alliance Gears Up For Election

Written by Hindu mahasabha from The Hindu II

Amid the WAD Elections in India, three candidates Indusse, Homeland of great and Indus Valley Civilization have declared what can be said as strategic alliance. The three candidates have merged their candidacy, making Indusse as the WA Delegate Election Candidate.

Commenting on the alliance, Armenasia said , "I believe the new alliance of Indusse will be a serious competitor to my campaign. I believe that it makes sense for Indusse, HoG and IVC to form a political party of alliance, as all three have similar ideologies. Now the nations of India should have an easier choice for WAD candidate."

The proposed cabinet of the Indusse alliance would give an idea to the voters that the idea stands for nationalism and conservatism. With nationalist leaders like Indus Valley Civilization and Hindu mahasabha and conservative minister like Awell islands, the alliance promises to fight for nation and righteousness. On asking whether he lacks conservative ideas, Armenasia said, " I definitely lack conservative ideas, but that is not a problem. I am a firm believer in liberal and left wing ideologies. I think that conservatism will negatively affect our region. We should all be more liberal, to strive for a more equal society. As for nationalism, I believe nationalism is bad both in real life and in NationStates. Nationalism often leads to more militarization, which in turn destabilizes peace and security."

Next we moved on to ask how will the candidates promote Indian culture on being elected. Armenasia said he would host cultural exchanges with other regions. Furthermore, ambassadors to regions will be encouraged to help raise awareness about culture. Moreover, by hosting more interregional tournaments with other nations, other regions will gain greater exposure to Indian culture. Whereas Hindu mahasabha said, "Writing only dispatches won't help. We need to discuss a strategic and practical idea. Also, straightaway posting on the RMBs on other regions won't make us look good. We need some creative ideas like Discord events and inter-regional conferences. Our government's main focus would be to promote India's vast culture to NationStates."

Adieu AoR!!

Written by Awell islands

In early August, I, Awell islands made an announcement to the Assembly of Regions which is an interregional organization which India was a part of, that India no longer has any interest in AoR as it has never helped India in any way, but Indian nations worked so hard towards AoR without getting anything in return. AoR was failing to deliver its purpose and it only wanted to benefit a few certain regions and no one else.
Indian citizens protested against AoR a few days beforehand and there was a huge uprising and revolt on both India’s discord and rmb against the AoR as it was a political battlefield now with only certain regions getting the benefits. So, upon consultation with the people and cabinet of India, I removed India down to an Associate Status region as Indian citizens still liked to participate in the Roleplay and Learning Program which were both heavily influenced and created by Indian nations.
Indian nations were happy, but the AoR fell apart as another big region left it following India’s example, so the AoR fell into turmoil since two of the top contributing regions left. The new government of AoR came into power and wanted to change AoR as a whole and began working on it, but announced that almost all activities such as the clubs, sporting events, money arena, Twitter, and more were cancelled and removed from AoR. Almost all of those activities were made and run by Indian nations. Additionally, that same government which is still in power right now, announced that Associate regions can not participate in any of the two remaining activities, Learning program and roleplay, which are both heavily influenced by India and would fall apart if India was not in it.
Thus, I decided along with India’s WAD’s permission that India needs to get out of AoR completely now since we couldn’t access the learning program program anymore and were told not to participate in the roleplay. Now, the people of the roleplay wanted India in there and decided to allow all Indian nations to stay. However, this also called for India to have its own roleplay which is currently in the making.
All in all, India is at a much better place than what it once used to be and the pride and patriotism of India amongst the citizens has grown even more.

Pride of the Past

Upper Calcutta has long served as an inspiration for the nations of India. For the edition of The Monthly Tabloid of the region India, we interviewed Upper Calcutta over a variety of questions. Special thanks to our interviewer Armenasia.

Q1: Were you the WA Delegate of India? For how long were you the delegate?
Answer: Yes, I was delegate twice. For around 100 days.

Q2: As a delegate, what were your responsibilities?
A: Well, I was delegate at a time where there was very little activity in India. All the main players had either CTEd or inactive. My job was to hold the fort until a new set of regular players arrive. I also tried to recruit many new players to India.

Q3: What were your ideologies as WA delegate?
A: I was a left leaning liberal. I know these are bad words in today's time. But back then we would proudly declare liberalism as our main principle. Our focus was to improve education, healthcare and military average of the whole region. You managed to bring education from world top 15% to top 10%

Q4: Why is it that you left India for Osiris?
A: Upper Calcutta fell into a state of war within itself. It's provinces rebelled against the state with the help of an ancient secret society of spies. The secret society infiltrated the government, the military and the corporate sector and eventually used their powers to overthrow the Upper Calcutta government in Darjeeling. Once the state lost all its powers, the secret society established Bengal and reduced Upper Calcutta to a small city. We lost everything and eventually the country ceased to exist.
Then, after a few years, we regained full control of the city and reestablished the old government. One day we intend to go back to India and continue being active in the region.

Q5: Do you wish to return to India soon?
A: Yes, I will return to India and claim everything that I lost. My military is strong but we need a trigger.

Q6: Do you have any advice for current WAD of India?
A: Yes. Neo Kerala is obviously an experienced player and he is someone I trust. My advice to him is to not fall prey to propaganda and follow the values that exist in RL Republic of India. We have had a bad phase where a lot of people wanted to force their ideology on the whole region using mass propaganda. They had a strong government and experienced players so they were difficult to beat. But now that they have gone, we need to make India a region that values diversity, equality and free thinking.

Q7: Indusse, our PM sees you as a role model. Do you have anything to say to him?
A: Yes, Indusse has always been an ally of UC, Shantiniketan, Bengal, etc. He is fair in his decisions. He is a good listener. And most of all, he is a kind leader. I was extremely happy when he took over as Founder from Tripunithura. I wish him all the best. He has my support and respect always.

Q8: Any extra comments:
A: Long live India!
Jai Hind!

In conclusion, Upper Calcutta is a remarkable nation and has served the region of India very well. His advice will be considered and implemented. To end this article on a good note, an late Happy Independence Day.

The Importance of 'Namaskar' in Indian Culture

Written by Hindu mahasabha

In Indian culture, people greet each other by joining their palms – termed as “Namaskar” (or Namaste). The general reason behind this tradition is that greeting by joining both the palms means respect. However, scientifically speaking, joining both hands ensures joining the tips of all the fingers together; which are denoted to the pressure points of eyes, ears, and mind. Pressing them together is said to activate the pressure points which helps us remember that person for a long time. And, no germs since we don’t make any physical contact!

All information within our server since it was created in late 2016/early 2017 has been destroyed and is beyond retrieval. Over a dozen members of our server were also banned by them, and we are working on contacting them in order to re-invite them. We ask that the community please have patience while we work go fix what has been destroyed, and if you know anything please contact us.

Does this mean you vote according to what the region wants? Since the majority voted in favor, you'll do the same?

Seems like it. But i think before making a decision, thembria should include their own vote. This way thembria also gets a vote.

That's a good idea. Thembria might also play the role similar to the US's vice president. For example, the measure Thembria voted on was 4-3. There could be a time when Thembria's vote results in a tie or breaks it.

Yeah. I think thembria is a part of yggdrasil, so they should also get a vote.
I think it's unfair if thembria doesn't get 1 just because they're the delegate.

But if i'm not wrong thembria irl manages loads of NS accounts, so thembria might not care on voting.
