Islands are so confusing! Is it a land of eyes or is it saying that it is land?

I guess is land, and goes without saying, on the water.

What about desert isle...? These seem to be forested. Maybe desert implies deserted. And then there's isle. Makes no Sense - in the middle of the Ocean.

Not to mention that phonetically, their statement could be spelled “Inglish is probublee thu eezeeest langwej too lern, it iz much mor simpl then enee uther langwej.” The phonetics of this whole entire thing make no sense! The silent “E” thing is a solid rule, but in words like language, simple, more, and apple, it doesn’t even emphasize and stretch the vowels. The diphthongs are laughable, there’s no form of noun gender, rules for plurality are inconsistent, vowels play Russian Roulette with what sound they employ because you can barely tell by the surrounding letters, there’s no future tense, words that are spelled the exact same can be said differently, some words that are the exact same have different meanings, the I before E rule is completely ridiculous, “fish” can be spelled GHOTI, the “-ed” isn’t used by half of the past-tense words, formalities are nonexistent (much like my sister’s sense of humor), it’s imported many words that don’t even fit the language, and the entire language is a mangled patchwork of much better languages: German, Dutch, Latin, Greek, and others.I used to think Mandarin being a logography (a writing system where all root words are written as distinct symbols) was weird, but English spelling is so inconsistent we might as well used symbols.Of course, I can’t just go and say English is hard to learn no matter what.Depending on prior exposure to English, your first language, and the dialect you learn, a language may be easier or harder. So if you find English easy to understand and simple to employ, Nova tyrnavia, that’s great, and I’m glad you can employ the tactics of English easily and find it simple. However, it is a general consensus that English rules for pronunciation, spelling, and grammar are subverted thousands of times in the language, as well as it lacking helpful features of other languages.Hence why I made my statement in the first place.Hope this helps 😊

Iceland is the solution to that.

I saw the thing where they were allowing nations to have names of ex-nations with a size of 500 million to 1 billion population, I was disappointed when I saw that I couldn't make a nation just named "Costa Rica"

Never gave it that much thought, its just pronunciation. When I said english is easy I was thinking more about the grammar rules. The cases for an example, you know, nominative, genitive, dative and so on. The nouns themselves do not change in english. N - mother, G - mother, D - mother. Lets see how it works in slovak. N - mama, G - mamy, D - mame. To identify and use the suffix properly you have to identify the words gender - masculine, feminine, neutral. Then, each of these has models, masculine gender words have 5, feminine have 6 and neutral have 4. Every model has 6 cases - N, G, D, A, L, I. You pick the correct one and that gives you the suffix of the noun. You have to do all of this to use a noun in a sentence. Good luck foreigners.

You can check all of this here - https://slovake.eu/en/learning/grammar/classes/noun

By the way Sheepiania if you want to learn czech you will have to learn this too, they have 90% similar language ruling to ours. Unlucky.

Ok, so we’ve all been discussing the bad, inconsistent, and confusing languages, but here’s a question: which languages are the best in their writing system, sound inventory, grammar, stuff like the that?

Best sounding languages must be french and japanese.

I like how we are having a petition to create a "National Maxtopia day" although maxtopia commits a lot of warcrimes against you in issues.

Hoping for a National Bigtopia Day or a National Blackacre Day soon. I forgot the nation that kindly sent us those fruit baskets but do we ever return the gesture?

I really like italian. And for a french speaker like me, it is quite easy to learn considering the similarities in grammar, vocabulary and also pronounciation, which is great!

I quite like the sound of Russian, especially in song.

Today we had a Culture/Summer festival and let me just tell you: Hindi is absolutely beautiful and the music, THE MUSIC. The bass was so strong my chest vibrated and everybody cheered. I am so happy that after everything was done that they did another round of blasting the place with amazing music and amazing moves. It's kind of funny how when their turn came the first time it was much more crowded than the Bolivian or Chinese shows and after like 2 hours and most people went away and there were very few people for the Bulgarian show and then they had their 2nd turn and all of a sudden the place was crowded like never before. It was weird how in like one second I was there with a few people and in the next moment when the Bulgarians went down and the Indians came again I was surrounded by hundreds of people again.
But I can't blame them, the music and the dances by the Indian group were phenomenal.
And another language I think is beautiful is probably Greek. It just has that ring to it(Pera sous pera kampous).

And my dad drove home a 2010 Lincoln Towncar, so we can fit in our 6 person family in it.

Today, I learned that the musical Sound of Music is hated in Germany and Austria.

Understandable, but sad nonetheless
