You mean, like this? Not to be rude, but, uh...

No.

IC:

In response to this utter betrayal, Toussaint Bourdette and other members of the Sovereignty Party, backed by enraged masses of Creoles, chanting “Liberté! Egalité! Fraternité!” has stormed the government centers of Fuseana in a mostly-bloodless coup. Jean-Jacques Bourdette has resigned his position as Consul, and the following declaration has been drawn up and sent to the governments of all concerned.

The Declaration of Independence

Shocked by this imperial attempt upon Fuseanan sovereign territory, Fuseana immediately implements the following measures:

—Consul Jean-Jacques Bourdette is immediately replaced at the top of government by his nephew, Toussaint Bourdette, whose title is officially altered to “President”.

—Fuseana is declared a Republic, and officially annouces the formation of the Creole Union for the first time. Fuseana hopes to remain on good terms with Britannia, but will be a decolonized nation.

—The Treaty of Capesterre is declared null and void, by will of the Creole people.

—The government of Fuseana will at once be changed to a multiparty democratic republic, with a Parliament made up of one elected representative from each Parish, and the President, who shall be elected by the popular vote, subject to the higher order of the Creole Union.

—Any attempt by Penult or any other nation to alter this legitimate and democratic change of government by force will be regarded as an act of war. This matter is also declared legally closed.

Down with filthy Imperialism! Tremble, ye perfidious Tyrants!

100% of the Fuseanan populace are solidly in favor of these actions. The anniversary of this Declaration shall forever be celebrated as Fouzyŕn Independence Day.
