Region: The Leftist Assembly

For Embassy Amendment (Embassy Confirmation), I believe that a confirmation poll would be better than the current two-day discussion period as it would better ensure that embassy changes are made with the best interests of our region.

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I believe the MoFA is confirmed by the Assembly with the express purpose of being entrusted to — with the Secretary — make the final call on the status of embassies. With the addition of the 2-day discussion period, the MoFA can act with that trust further solidified but with the autonomy that comes with the position.

On the other hand, unlike let’s say the WA, embassies are something that I’d say are universally held by all Assemblians as incredibly important and dare I say, sacrosanct. With this in mind, considering we hold referendums for other initiatives which are binding for the region as a whole (such as a constitutional amendment), perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to have a referendum for opening and closing embassies, especially considering how important this gameplay feature is to our region. Whereas, again, to use the WA as an example, not too many people are actively engaged with each passing resolution, embassies are a kind of unifying cause for our citizenry.

With that said, I am divided on my opinion on this proposal, as I can see it from both perspectives, having served as MoFA before.

Just my initial thoughts.
