President DeWitt has seen that other means of diplomacy are possible apart from raising hostilities without reason or sound logic."

the Duke raised an eyebrow. "I wasn't aware Kromkarie had fallen to extremism other than attempting to join the ranks of democracy."

But he nodded at the State Secretary's words. "We too do not wish for war, but have found ourselves driven closer to it by the Internationale's actions. If a path to peace can be found, that does not involve destroying our way of life, we will take it."

The carriage clattered to the gates to the Palace, which were opened by a pair of Royal Guards, and stopped in front of the entrance to the palace proper. The duke unlatched the door and stepped out.
