Hi 10000 Islands,
this is a 100% "serious" official message, sponsored by TIBOE and our secret corrupt donors:

Please remember to endorse our Delegate Wischland. It makes our region safer and more powerful, and gives us extra bragging rights. Endorsers are rewarded with WASP awards and perhaps free cookies*.

Thank you all for your attention.

*not an official government promise or legally binding guarantee

10ki wa secretariat

The Secretariat has issued a voting recommendation against the current SC proposal Condemn Quebecshire:

Current Proposal: Condemn Quebecshire
Voting Recommendation: Against

Analysis:

Proposal:
This proposal aims to condemn Quebecshire for their “suppression of rights and speech” and their “trickery as they are not in fact located in Quebec”.

Recommendation:
“Condemn Quebecshire” is a poorly written joke proposal. Additionally, the research and the facts of the proposal are severely lacking and sometimes even outright wrong. Finally, the nominee isn’t deserving of a condemnation, as they haven’t done anything to merit it.

Additionally, the Secretariat has published a voting overview for the GA proposal Protecting Convicted Voters:

Current Proposal: Protecting Convicted Voters

Overview

Proposal:
This proposal requires nations to allow former or current prisoners to exercise their right to vote for public office.

Opinions:

For:

Philimbesi wrote:If the leadership of your nation fears the opinion of incarcerated individuals so much then perhaps it should take a very close look at how it is treating them. Likewise if the leadership of your nation relies upon the opinion of incarcerated individuals it should perhaps take a very close look at how it's treating everyone else.

We support this measure.

North supreria wrote:North Supreria finds the current concept of suffrage and human rights very interesting. The right to vote is too important to take away and we are therefore looking forward to voting in favor of this proposal to arrange this internationally.

Against:

Bananaistan wrote:"Still completely, utterly and entirely opposed. The proposing delegation should be ashamed of themselves.

"In any of these debates on these insane proposals to regulate the actions of only democracies in this assembly and granting tin pot dictatorships a say on how the internal affairs of democracies are conducted, not one person in favour has adequately explained why this is fair or reasonable.

"We will utilise the entirety of our diplomatic muscle to see this proposal fail should it be submitted."

Imperium Anglorum wrote:Elsie Mortimer Wellesley. We disagree with the proposition that those who have defrauded or undermined the electoral system criminally ought to be permitted to vote even while their sentences are being served. We will vote against.

New decius wrote:“Her Imperial Majesties Government feels that granting the right to vote and participate in the democratic process to the incarcerated is, while a noble cause, not practical in all situations. For those convicted of minor crimes, Her Imperial Majesties’ Government already guarantee’s the right to continue in the democratic process. However, those convicted of the most heinous of crimes...to allow them to participate in such an august and noble act as helping direct the course of the nation, would seem to be an insult to their victims. Her Imperial Majesties’ Government must oppose this proposal and retain its right to deny such a right to the worst of humanity. Else proper justice would not be served.”
