Ensbridge wrote:Hello everyone, Ensbridge here, I recently joined this region

Really isn't much to say about Ensbridge other than I picture it as an island nation near Africa that used to be colonised by Sweden. Weird, I know, but I strive to be creative. Anyways, happy to be here

(also i heard there's something about pie-throwing?)

Welcome to the region of 🥧!

An island off the coast of Africa...perhaps close to the southern tip? I think you may be in the right place 😉

Galliadurm wrote:Oh, here we go again~. Least I'm here to ask you to cover your face before they get started. We throw pies here as a welcoming. I think it's some sort of initiation. Kansas, Rei, and them has recipes (I think genuine ones as well).

:3 You know you're gonna have to show me Roxia Prime's calendar now, right? 48 hour day and night cycle, but how many days does Roxia Prime have annually? How many months are they subject to? Are they accurately able to view present day Augusta from where they're at without depending on light? That last one is unnecessary.. but still.

I like these sort of things.

Roxia Prime still has the same number of days in a year, and the same number of months. Due to a combination of the 48-hour day/night cycle and how long it takes Roxia Prime to orbit its sun though, a Roxium year is 2 Augusta years in length.

While Augusta itself isn't visible in Roxia Prime's night sky, its sun, called Amaterasu-Gamma 3 by the Roxium Federation, is. Augusta is around 92 lightyears away from Roxia Prime.

Vauhine’s star is not visible from Augusta because it’s both extremely far away and in the middle of a weird space time anomaly. I haven’t given thought to how much time it takes to orbit or rotate though.

I never gave any thought to how Roxia Prime's star would appear in Augusta's night sky...

New lore time!

The star Roxia Prime orbits, called Ra-Alpha 1, is a main sequence G-type star, sometimes called a yellow dwarf. Being 92 lightyears away, it is visible in Augusta's night sky, but it is hard to spot, especially with the naked eye.

Likewise, Augusta's star, named Amaterasu-Gamma 3 in the Roxium Federation, is visible in Roxia Prime's night sky as part of the Ryat-Un constellation. The Ryat-Un constellation gets its name from a now extinct tribe that worshiped it like a god back in Roxia Prime's equivalent of the early bronze age.

New poll!

Not necessarily the most inspired I admit, but I'm curious what people's thoughts are. Feel free to tell me about the options I didn't include that you like

Most of Drachmas significant Star Systems are located far from Augusta. Vaklev and Hadrox Alpha are G and K Type Main Sequence Stars so they are obviously out of the question. The Closest Drachman Controlled system to Augusta is Loman-48-X, a L-Type Brown Dwarf with a Subhabitable Planet, but thanks to that being a Brown Dwarf and thus having very low luminosity it still isn't visible.

The Only 4 Stars that Drachma owns/controls visible (And of Significance) from Augusta are Achaeon, Dagon, Astuarsis, and Beta Hadroxini. Achaeon is an A-Type Star Thirty Light Years away, Dagon is a B-Type Star Sixty Light Years Away, Astuarsis a B-A-K Trinary system about 115 Light Years away and Beta Hadroxini is a Wolf Rayet star 6,500+ Light years away.

:D With this help, I can now better differentiate Augusta's skies and "Earth's" skies. A little little chunk of Roxium's people, even though their focus wasn't on that at the time, and a little bit of Aerlanica's (and some of the Primaeri) people gets to experience the sight of "our" stars overlaying.. overlapping.. overshadowing.. (I forget the right word for it in this context) the position of the stars in Augusta's universe. Without them interfering with one another, that'd be bad.

Lore-wise, it would be good to share how "Earth's" universe is teetering closer to the Degenerate Era.. to the point where Welknets (made up celestial bodies (still trying to come up with the lore for this)) are beginning to "show up".

Imma throw a water pie(legit thing).. since I still no like mopping up the mess.
(I am (I'm not~) why everything is clean and presentable for every newcomer. "Mopping" up wasted pies after each welcoming is very time consuming.)

Yeah... Alemaris was partially inspired by Northern Norway's Polar Nights
Alemaris thanks you for the water pie, it was certainly a cooler we needed, and we understand the tedious tasks of cleaning up pies...

Alemaris hopes that we can interact more!!
Thank you!!

Hello CoGH!!!

Random lore thought I just had:

As magitek (A combination of magic and technology) is ubiquitous in the Roxium Federation, it is perfectly possible to use their equivalent of smartphones, Diannao-Tui, as magic wands, with a few limitations

That is possible because Diannao-Tui need to emit and receive magic as part of their normal operation. In order to do stuff like browse the internet and make phone calls, Diannao-Tui exploit what are effectively the magic equivalent of radio waves as a means of wireless data transmission. The Roxium Federation refers to these as magika waves.

Every Diannao-Tui has a component known as a resonant magika transceiver. This is the component responsible for transmitting and receiving magika waves. As this component can cast magic, it is possible to use it, and by extension the Diannao-Tui, as a "High-tech" magic wand.

Depending on how you look at it, using a resonant magika transceiver as a magic wand is either an extension of its intended use (Transmitting magika waves is basically the same as casting a magic spell), or something it was not intended for (Resonant magika transceivers were not designed for use as magic wands).

By far the biggest problem with using a Diannao-Tui as a magic wand is how much power one can "Safely" send through the resonant magika transceiver. The resonant magika transceivers used in the vast majority of Diannao-Tui are "Low-powered", only intended to transmit and receive magika waves within a specific "Multi-axis frequency band", and thus only capable of "Doing basic low-level magics". Pumping too much magic through a resonant magika transceiver is a great way to damage or destroy it (Along with possibly bricking the Diannao-Tui in the process).

Of course "High-powered" and "Very high-powered" resonant magika transceivers exist, but they tend to be way too big to be used in a Diannao-Tui. They also use more power than most Diannao-Tui batteries can put out. The intended uses for these resonant magika transceivers include wireless nodes in telecom networks and com-link equipment aboard aerospace crafts.

Another problem is the placement of the resonant magika transceiver within the Diannao-Tui. While the exact placement will vary from one device to another, it is almost always somewhere inside the device's shell. This causes problems for different magics. As an example, it may make it impossible to cast a basic fire spell without setting the Diannao-Tui itself on fire (Or at least melting a hole through the shell), or frying every circuit in the device by trying to cast a lightning spell.

There exists Diannao-Tui that were designed with use as magic wands in mind. The main distinguishing feature between these Diannao-Tui and others is the presence of some mana-conductive rod with mana emitters embedded within it. Depending on the device, this rod may be retractable, foldable, some combination of the two, or removable. This rod is basically your standard magic wand, but made out of exotic (By fantasy standards) materials (Usually some form of plastic or metal surrounding a core made of a mana-conductive material such as arcane-doped silvidium or manacite-laminated relectritium), but short so it can be attached to a Diannao-Tui without becoming unwieldy.
The reason these Diannao-Tui have actual magic wands attached is so the user can do all the spell flinging they want without putting undue strain on the resonant magika transceiver.

Because Diannao-Tui that were designed to be used as magic wands exist, there also exists accessories that can let other Diannao-Tui do the same thing. These take the form of short magic wands with a case on the bottom a Diannao-Tui can be slotted into. Also attached to the wand is a cable that plugs into a Diannao-Tui's UELB port (Universal External Link Bus. The Roxium equivalent of a USB port), allowing the wand to tap into the Diannao-Tui's magic.
A number Diannao-Tui manufactures are not fond of these accessories. This has lead to some trying to make Diannao-Tuis that are incompatible with them to little success. Others tried to sue the companies that make those accessories out of existence, or at least bankrupt them with legal fees.
