PROTESTS ERUPT AS LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS REMAIN IN PLACE IN SAROQ AND CASCUTIA

      [KOLKESBURG • 25 MARCH 2024]

(SBN) - Although the Sora virus has largely subsided globally, with cases steeply declining and many countries ending their lockdown policies, President Slach has stated that lockdown restrictions will remain in place in the regions of Cascutia and Saroq - while the rest of the country has been open for weeks. Of course, this has led to protests in both Cascutia and Saroq, protests not seen since the aftermath of the 2014 invasion of Saroq.

In mid-March, over the period of a few days, heads of provinces would announce that lockdown restrictions had been lifted, due to the federal government allowing them to do so. Notably, this excluded the two autonomous regions of Cascutia and Saroq, which both have not received any notices from the government allowing them to lift their lockdown restrictions. As a result, civilians have been forced to obey a curfew, avoid large social gatherings, and wear masks in public, while the rest of Sateroc has returned to normal.

After many Saroqi and Cascutian civilians voiced their anger at these policies on social media, the government seemingy doubled down, as regional administrations both restricted internet access for civilians in their respective regions for nearly several days. Following these developments, both regions saw calls for protests, which would be answered by their respective populations.

Yesterday, large protests were held all across Cascutian and Saroqi cities, protesting the governments continued lockdown policies. In Elmonton alone, hundreds of thousands of proestors broke local laws by participating in mass gatherings and refusing to wear masks. In Qaqarsville, many civilians reportedly broke their local curfew restrictions by continuing their protest later into the night.

In response to these protests, local police forces have been harsh on their crackdowns, with both Mathéo Romanov, chief administrative director of the Saroq province, and Fedot Portier, president of the Cascutian security council ordering the deployment of thousands of officers to crack down on the protests. However, the harsh crackdown has also led to many serious injuries amongst the protestors, as the demonstrations became rather violent overnight.

Today, the protests have seen a stark contrast compared to yesterday's, with a serious amount of rioting and looting occuring across major cities. Regional police have been just as violent in their response, reportedly using tear gas, rubber bullets, water hoses, and other equipment as a response to the riots. Many demonstrators and a number of police have been wounded, with protests continuing to worsen as calls for an end to regional lockdown restrictions continue to grow, and anger at the federal government begins to boil.

As a direct response to the protests, Romanov and Portier have both declared regional states of emergency, requesting President Slach to deploy troops to both regions to calm the protests down. President Slach, responding to the requests, has stated that he will hold an emergency meeting with his cabinet on Wednesday in order to decide the next course of action in terms of a possible direct intervention into Sateroc's two special administrative regions.

However, doing so could end up being a disaster for Kolkesburg. In less than a month, Sateroc will remember one year since the start of the 2023 conflict that tore the country into pieces for nearly a year. Although that war is over, the government has been forced to face the consequences. The nation's stability has remained extremely fragile since, and a decisive election this June could completely disrupt everything.

Alongside this, Saroq and Cascutia have each been facing problems of their own. In Saroq, ever since the 2014 invasion that basically forced the prosperous, yet unrecognized nation into Sateroc, protests have been non-stop, even after the 2019 revolution overthrew longtime dictator Georg Puoc. In fact, false promises by the democratic government to eventually allow Saroq its independence has led to even more anger within the Saroqi population. A local armed resistance by Saroqi partisans has also continued since 2014, which has been a thorn in Kolkesburg's side for years.

In Cascutia, which has been part of Sateroc for centuries, the regional armed resistance has been an essential part in its history. Ever since the 1960s, an armed insurgency by different groups against the Saterocian occupation has grown more and more. Heading into the 1990s, the conflict exploded into total war, as massacres, terrorist attacks, and full-on battles were the norm. This has led to increased repression by the Saterocian government against local Cascutians, even those who have remained innocent throughout the course of the conflict.

With the ongoing protests, both of these regional conflicts could seriously escalate into levels of violence never seen before in Sateroc's 21st century history, possibly even worse than the 2023 war.

Protests Erupt as Lockdown Restrictions Remain in Saroq and Cascutia

By Kous Urum, written 25 March, 2024

Sateroc's fragile stability is threatened, as large-scale protests erupt over still-in-place lockdown restrictions

( S B N ) - Although the Sora virus has largely subsided globally, with cases steeply declining and many countries ending their lockdown, President Slach has stated that lockdown restrictions will remain in place in the regions of Cascutia and Saroq - while the rest of the country has been open for weeks. The Holy Week Begins, Worries of Sora-24

Members of the Saint Mary the Immaculate of Valhókoà Brotherhood, Valhókoà

This Sunday has erupted in bustle as Semanià Saone, Semana Santa, or the Holy Week festivities begins. However, the annual commemoratiion of Jesus' last days has brought worry from health experts over the risk of spreading the virus. Despite the decrease of deaths and cases of the virus from weeks ago, it isn't completely gone. The Ministry of Tourism and Culture has stated that 'the Holy Week is one of Wallenland's cultura landmarks [and] that it is perhaps impossible to stop the crowds', so health experts - though frustrated with the stubborn attitude of Wallens - have sent guidelines for the coming celebrations: wear masks, keep a one metre distance from others, minimise contact, eat at home instead of at churches and church-supported sites.
The PM had recently hooted on Hooter to 'keep safe and have fun for the Holy Week'.

(forgot to post this on Sunday because of school work)

Disclaimer: I decided to simulate the rest of the third matches for everyone tonight because I'm going to be very busy before the weekend. The fourth matches will be simulated according to their scheduled dates, but we're going to get all the third matches out of the way tonight. Sorry for the inconvenience, if you can even call it an inconvenience as several of you I know will be happy to know the results, but the inconvenience may be waiting a few days to return to daily simulations. Which honestly... no biggy.

Everyone has now played three matches, and there is one match left for each nation! The seeding for knockout stages will be known next week!

Vostoc destroyed in nuclear attack: Yuan government
Months of back-and-forth diplomatic spats and military standoffs led to today's decisive act, says Chen.

APRIL 1; SHANGHAN - President Qin Chen confirmed a successful nuclear strike on the Zoygarian capital of Vostoc on Monday morning, with the Chairwoman of the People's Republic of Yuan giving praise to the crew of a submarine in the Kuskok Sea who were given the discreet orders to carry out the operation. Coming on the back of months of diplomatic spats, military standoffs both in Nortuan and Ausianan waters, and high-profile detaining of each other's ambassadors and embassy staffing, Qin and the Zoygarian government had been in a war of words which often included nuclear threats, but today's escalation sets a precedent for international reaction to transgressions.

Initial reports indicated the nuclear missile, launched clandestinely from a Yuan submarine, detonated with devastating force over the heart of Vostoc, obliterating entire neighborhoods and leaving behind a scene of utter devastation. The once-thriving capital city now lies in ruins, with buildings reduced to rubble and streets engulfed in flames. The toll on human life is incalculable, with thousands feared dead and countless others injured or displaced by the blast. Rescue efforts are underway, but the scale of destruction has overwhelmed emergency services, leaving many trapped beneath the debris with little hope of survival.

"This day was inevitable," said Qin Chen, to thunderous applause. "Zoygaria's vain attempts to back us into a corner, to thrust forth its wickedness, has been vanquished. We will not hesitate to continue the strikes if Zoygaria's remaining authority refuses to capitulate."

The attack on Vostoc has sent shockwaves throughout the international community, with world leaders condemning Yuan's reckless and brazen act of aggression. The use of nuclear weapons has crossed a dangerous threshold, sparking fears of further escalation and retaliation. Zoygaria, reeling from the devastation inflicted upon its capital, has vowed to seek justice for the innocent lives lost in the attack. King Arristoc III, who was in the city of Acui at the time, has called for revenge while other surviving members of the government have called an emergency meeting of the CCA Security Council to address the crisis and hold Yuan accountable for its actions.

The international response to the attack has been swift and unequivocal. Leaders from around the world have condemned Yuan's actions in the strongest possible terms, calling for immediate de-escalation and a return to diplomatic dialogue to resolve the underlying conflicts driving the crisis. Amidst the chaos and devastation, there are growing concerns over the potential for further nuclear proliferation and the destabilizing impact it could have on global security. The use of nuclear weapons in any conflict represents a grave threat to international peace and stability, and the need for robust arms control measures has never been more urgent.

As the world grapples with the aftermath of the attack on Vostoc, Yuaneze naval vessels have been dispatched to the island of Hashijima in the Cantalle Ocean, in an apparent move to reclaim the Zoygarian-occupied territory.

Finally someone got rid of Zoy

Zoygaria wrote:Vostoc Destroyed in Yuaneze Nuclear Attack, Zoygarian Military Mobilizes for Counterstrike

General Zhu stood on the deck of the Yuaneze naval command ship, his eyes fixed on the horizon where the Zoygarian fleet loomed ominously. The tension in the air was palpable as the crew awaited his command. Behind him, the flickering lights of the command center cast shadows on the faces of his subordinates, their expressions mirroring the gravity of the situation.

Moments earlier, news had reached them that the Zoygarians had launched a devastating nuclear strike on Shanghan, the heart of Yuan. The shock and horror of the attack reverberated through the ranks, fueling a fierce determination to retaliate with equal force.

As General Zhu surveyed the fleet before him, his mind raced with calculations and strategic considerations. The Zoygarian ships were a formidable force, their sleek hulls cutting through the waves with deadly intent. But they were also vulnerable, exposed to the full might of Yuan's naval arsenal.

"Prepare to launch," General Zhu ordered, his voice steady despite the turmoil raging within him. "Target the Zoygarian fleet and initiate the nuclear strike."

There was a flurry of activity as the crew sprang into action, their movements precise and efficient. In the distance, the Zoygarian ships drew closer, their ominous silhouettes growing larger with each passing moment.

General Zhu watched with a mixture of apprehension and resolve as the countdown to launch began. The weight of his decision hung heavy on his shoulders, knowing that the consequences of his actions would reverberate far beyond the confines of the battlefield.

But there was no turning back now. The fate of Yuan, of his people, hung in the balance, and he would do whatever it took to protect them.

"Five... four... three... two... one... launch," came the call from the command center.

With a deafening roar, the nuclear missiles soared into the sky, leaving trails of fire in their wake. General Zhu watched in grim silence as they streaked towards their targets, his heart heavy with the knowledge of the devastation they would unleash.

The moments that followed were a blur of tension and anticipation as the missiles closed in on their objectives. Then, with a blinding flash of light, the world erupted into chaos.

The nuclear explosions tore through the Zoygarian fleet, engulfing the ships in a maelstrom of fire and destruction. The shockwaves reverberated across the sea, sending waves crashing against the hull of the command ship as the crew struggled to maintain their footing.

For General Zhu, the sight was both awe-inspiring and horrifying. The power of Yuan's nuclear arsenal had been unleashed, exacting a terrible toll on their enemies. But amidst the devastation, he could not shake the feeling of profound sadness at the loss of life and destruction wrought by his command.

As the smoke cleared and the echoes of the explosions faded into silence, General Zhu knew that the battle was far from over. The Zoygarians would undoubtedly retaliate with all the fury at their disposal, and Yuan would have to be prepared to face the consequences of their actions.

But in that moment, standing on the deck of the command ship, surrounded by the wreckage of war, General Zhu felt a sense of grim satisfaction. He had done what was necessary to protect his homeland, to safeguard the lives of his people.

And though the cost had been high, he knew that he would do it again if he had to. For in times of war, there were no easy choices, only difficult decisions made in the crucible of conflict. And as long as he drew breath, General Zhu would do whatever it took to ensure that Yuan emerged victorious, no matter the cost.

War on Agartha declared as invasion wreaks havoc across the country

Recent unusual seismic activity has been a source of consternation for Sprotavian scientists. They struggled to find an explanation for the questions posed by the worried citizens without success. Their investigation came to an end prematurely when a subterranean civilization struck the nation's major population centres and critical infrastructure. It appears that the invaders have been tunnelling towards the surface; tremors felt in the past few weeks were the only warning of the imminent strike. The joyous atmosphere of the spring festivities turned to panic when the raiders emerged from the mines and boreholes.

"We dug in too greedily and too deep." said a miner interviewed by the Lyakvia Monitor. "We did not know what was down there. We did not know about them!"

It is now clear that the hostile dwellers of the planet's inner surface, dubbed Agarthans, are merciless and committed to the eradication of all life on the surface of the planet. They have claimed many lives before eventually being beaten back underground by the Sprotavian Armed Forces after the entire day of combat. At the peak of the fighting, the Agarthans claimed control of more than half of Lyakvia, including the city centre, where the parliament and the Marshal's Palace are situated. The Marshal of Sprotavia, Konstanty Sosnowski, and his Marshal Guard are missing. Skirmishes are now taking place underground as both forces struggle for control of the underground caverns connecting Agartha to the surface. The military claims to have the upper hand in the fighting but asks the citizens to remain in their homes as reports of new breaches flood in. The situation is unclear due to Agarthan electronic interference.

Attempted Assassination of President Rybaka

During a visit to the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Beljaṡanan with Patriarch Michael VI of All Olsahemobka, an unmarked assailant shot at President Marek Rybaka four times - two hitting - before being tackled by his security detail. The President is currently hospitalised, however, Prime Minister Josiv Kozanov has assured The Olsahemobkan and other media outlets that the President is not under any serious harm and shall see a swift recovery. Patriarch Michael VI had sent "[his] prayers for the President".
The assailant was in question was only a 27 year old man, who reportedly stated his intentions for attempting to kill the President because of recent pension reforms, cutting the funding of infrastructure Rybaka deemed unnecessary, and 'bleaching' the line between church and state. The assailant will be tried for attempted first-degree murder and treason after May with the official date pending.

PRESIDENT SLACH ORDERS 'LIMITED FORCE' TO DEAL WITH PROTESTS, KOLKESBURG ON HIGH ALERT FOLLOWING TERROR THREATS

      [KOLKESBURG • 5 APRIL 2024]

(SBN) - Earlier today, the results of Slach's emergency meeting with his cabinet were announced, as President Slach ordered a 'very limited force' of no more than a thousand police for each Cascutia and Saroq to deal with the protests. It is expected that police forces across major cities will each contribute at least a few hundred soldiers to each region, with the primary targets being Elmonton and Qaqarsville.

In the same statement, Slach also condemned the "extremely violent nature" of the protests, and urged the demonstrators to find constructive and peaceful ways to express their grievances, instead of large-scale riots against the outnumbered regional police forces.

Meanwhile, authorities in Kolkesburg have placed the city's terror alert on the highest level, after receiving what they deemed to be very credible terror threats against civilian centers and government infrastructure. It is unknown where these threats have come from or who made them, however many within the city's government have stated on social media that they believe it to be from either terrorist groups in Cascutia or in Saroq.

Reportedly, chief commander of the Brotherhood of Kolkesburg, Naum Pavlavain, offered to support the intervention with his own forces, however this was seemingly rejected as no news of this ever came from Pavlavain. The Brotherhood of Kolkesburg, the country's most feared paramilitary unit, came into conflict with the Saterocian government during the 2023 civil war, in which they sided with the AUN against the Saterocian military. However, a few weeks ago rumors arose of a possible reconciliation between them and the government after months of an uneasy peace between both sides. These rumors seemed to have been confirmed, with the group easily being able to offer help to the government.

Protests, which have been ongoing since last week, have only continued to escalate in recent days, as the federal government has doubled down on their stance, with calls to end extended lockdown restrictions in both Saroq and Cascutia rejected. Meanwhile, the regional administrations in charge of both regions declared separate states of emergencies, requesting federal support, which today has formally been accepted.

Demonstrations have been intensifying for the past few days, with an increasing number of riots taking place across Elmonton and Qaqarsville. Yesterday, one protester was killed and a number were seriously injured by Saroqi police in Elmonton after a particularly harsh crackdown due to a series of lootings taking place in southern portions of the city.

The death of a protester reverberated across Saroq and Cascutia, as hundreds of thousands went out to demonstrate against the Saterocian government. Protests were increasingly violent overnight, with police forces reportedly using rubber bullets against a large crowd of protestors, seriously wounding many. Online, a Saroqi opposition figure posted the names of hundreds who had been wounded in the protests against the government, along with the name of the protestor who had been killed, which gained millions of likes.

Alongside this, insurgent groups across Cascutia and Saroq announced their full support for the protests against the "Saterocian oppressors", calling on the demonstrators to take up arms. A Saroqi group in particular, known as the Saroqi Republican Forces, or the FRS for short, published a video, threatening the Saterocian government if they continued to enact their harsh response against protestors. However, there is no evidence to prove that this video is linked to the current threats against Kolkesburg.

President Slach Orders 'Limited Force' to Deal with Protests, Kolkesburg on High Alert Following Terror Threats

Slach hopes to crack down on protests effectively as an oncoming presidential election loom over Sateroc

( S B N ) - Earlier today, the results of Slach's emergency meeting with his cabinet were announced, as President Slach ordered a 'very limited force' of no more than a thousand police for each Cascutia and Saroq to deal with the protests.
