Virtuous greed

Hey everyone,

In the spirit of the free market I have opened a bank. It's brand new, but I think it has some of the best features of any of the banks on the NS market. If you're interested in looking at it go to viewtopic.php?f=6&t=75599

I checked out your bank, it looks pretty cool. Some investment features would be a nice addition, but other than that it's set up really nicely. I bought some gold, God knows we need it with the central banks printing more and more money.

Hey everyone,

With some prodding from Virtuous Greed I decided to come back and give this region another try. I look forward to getting back into Objectivism again.

Hey(it's Virtuous Greed's puppet) I saw what happened here and moved in one of my puppet's with WA status to back you to ensure that this region remained safe. While I may be away that doesn't mean that I've abandoned this region. Dagnia, you should remove the clutter they left on our WFE and bring back the old flag.

I would like to take a minute to consider the idea. The development of a region's secret police, finding those who are plotting against a region. That would take care of invasions, and would help develop a sense of being watched, which would cause trouble to cease.

Hopefully the rebound is in effect for GG :D

A friendly hello from an old resident of Galt's Gulch! I'm glad to see we finally got refounded.

To anyone looking for a lighthearted video on Austrian Economics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTQnarzmTOc - Quite entertaining to say the least, even if obviously biased. Anyways I was wondering(and hoping to get a debate started), which economic system do you prefer? I assume that since this is a region based on Objectivism that you all believe in laissez-faire, but what kind of laissez-faire? The Austrian model, which believes in free markets and competing private currencies, Monetarism, which is essentially the same but believes a fiat currency to be more practical, or some other system(there are too many to mention) or combination of systems?

Post by Dagnia suppressed by Fukkireta.

That was pretty good. I myself prefer gold currency, but heard that once many countries, including the US had no national currency at all. The idea involved something like private companies issuing what essentially amounted to receipts for the stuff they produced. I don't remember all the details and some of what I remember am probably remembering wrongly as it was in an economics class I took a long time ago. I did not understand the link between fiat currency and enslavement at the time, so I was not too interested. Unfortunately, when it popped back into my head one day, I could not remember what it was called or anything to find out more details about it.

To me, this idea sounds better than gold, as it is based not on some metal, but on things actually produced. Does anyone remember what this is called and where to find more information about it?

Virtuous greed

I've unfortunately never heard of that method of currency, however as a model it intrigues me. I'll check around on some libertarian sites and see if I can find anything. It might be included in Ron Paul's report on the Gold Standard, in it he highlights America's history of private currencies.

Soooo... Rapture, anyone? Seen any zombies, or demons? Did the sky open up yet (or the ground)? Did your fundie neighbors disappear leaving behind the clothes they were standing in, while us heathen infidel scum get "left behind" for believing in only ourselves and not God, Yahweh or Allah?

Not here. It is unusually foggy, but not even raining, let alone rapturing. I certainly don't see heaven opening up when I look out the window. Might be hell rising, but this is Buffalo, and it always looks like that.

I saw Elvis, no zombies..
