Beijing-Dunedin Talks

In recent concerns of the rising of both the house market and homeless population, Dunedin has brought up the issue with Beijing in attempts of easing the issues, as New South Scotian laws have made it difficult to effectively deal with the overwhelming wealthy Chinese population who invest millions of dollars in private property in New South Scotia. Consequences of this have increased the house market, making it difficult for young and low income families to purchase a home.

Beijing has agreed to restrict private property investments in New South Scotia in exchange for greater recognition of Chinese products in the NSS market. This heavily includes the introduction of more Chinese luxury items such as cars and electronics. Foreign Minister Michelle O'Sullivan told One News yesterday, directly after talks with the Chinese ended,

"This is a major help for us, working with Beijing in dealing with our domestic issues is a strong sign for the future. As we're all beed made aware by the countless articles and constance new coverage of our homeless population the rising house prices, the average price for houses are going up to $400,000, that is nearly double what our median home listing price was just a few years ago. It is becoming incredibly difficult for us due to certain barriers in dealing with foreign investors. Now that we're actually receiving direct support from China, we can now focus on dealing with the homeless population. But in all in all, we're working closely with our Beijing counter part and this is leading to a great partnership."

      Antibiotic apocalypse — Where none
      of our medicines would work...

Bacteria are among the oldest organisms on this
planet, and many of them are harmless or helpful
to us, while others try to kill us. Antibiotics is a re-
volutionary technology in medicine, like a super-
weapon designed to kill off bacteria without dis-
turbing body cells. However, bacteria evolves, and
superbugs develop, which are bacterium that are
basically immune to any or certain antibiotics. In
China, 2015, doctors discovered a superbug that
is immune to colistin, a last resort antibiotic. In or-
der to counter them, German scientists are current-
ly working on modifying bacteriophage, an effective
killing machine which only targets bacteria. It works
like a homing missile, and when it sits on the surface
of a bacteria, it injects its genetic information, forcing
the bacteria to replicate the bacteriophage until it
bursts from the inside. The bacteriophage would never
    target human cells.

Prime Minister Pascal Bérubé gives a speech unveiling new Urban Policy.

“We used to be the place people flocked to for opportunity. Our cities were bustling with jobs and growing rapidly. When we were apart of Canada this was a region where families of varying races, nationalities and religions packed up and moved to because they knew the jobs that were available paid fair wages.

This was the place where Aerospace, Finance, Automotive and Information technology jobs provided a ladder up into the middle class for thousands of families, where you could earn enough to raise a family and buy the car you built at the factory. Quebec built the middle-class and created pathways to opportunity for people who couldn’t find them elsewhere.

But today Quebec cities are struggling. Municipalities across the country have suffered from drastic population loss, severe cuts in funding for essential services, economic development that fails to reach residential neighborhoods, and a government that values profits over people – particularly in working class communities.

Many families living in our cities today are struggling just to get by, much less get ahead.

Our nation needs to revitalize our cities and get things done that will help fight urban poverty. Solving these problems will require a strong partnership between the federal government, state, local and community leaders. We need to be committed to bringing people together to build strong, vibrant and healthy communities across the state, so we can build a better nation for everyone.

Our economic comeback eludes a lot of small business owners, the working class, women and people of color. At the same time, we are short on the skilled workforce that was once our hallmark. We must get more Quebecers on the path to high-wage skills, because a concentration of talent benefits all of us. Quebec must target, grow and recruit the strongest, fastest-growing industries of the future and offer the talent, place, education and infrastructure necessary to compete with the world. To pave the path to employment, we will focus on Affordable Auto-Insurance.

A pathway to employment doesn’t matter much if a worker doesn’t have affordable transportation to get to their job. Redlining – the practice of changing the quality or value of auto insurance based on geographic area, primarily to the disadvantage of inner-cities and minority neighborhoods – is unfair and unjust. And we know redlining is being used when the same person, driving the same car, is quoted a 24 percent difference on their auto insurance rate based on whether they say they live in the suburbs or in a major metropolitan area.

The sad fact is that under our current auto-insurance laws, territory-based rate setting is just one of too many non-driving related factors that goes into how premiums are calculated. We need to forge a coalition to bring down auto insurance rates and maintain quality coverage by Making sure policyholders are treated fairly by auto insurers – ending discrimination and redlining, because insurance companies shouldn’t determine rates based on someone’s zip code and other non-driving factors.

Reducing ever escalating costs by providing for reasonable cost controls, Limiting unnecessary and costly litigation, Reducing abuse and fraud by creating a strong fraud authority, Requiring insurance companies to make timely payments and penalizing them for denying claims without a reasonable basis and Mandating transparency around the catastrophic claims fund.

As part of our strategic investments in infrastructure, placemaking, and economic development, we must get serious about building regional transit systems in metropolitan areas across the nation. Affordable and reliable public transit is essential for working people in urban communities to get from one place to another. But when it takes a person more than two hours to get to their job – riding three buses plus a 30 minute walk – it’s safe to say the public transit system is a failure. This is a problem that must be solved. I am committed to bringing all stakeholders together to pass a regional transit plan that everyone can support, including local elected officials, business leaders, riders and taxpayers.

Thousands of communities have seen an increase in poverty rates over the last 10 years. Even with untold economic growth in other party's of the nation. To fight this growing threat to our economic recovery, we should create an undersecretary of welfare for poverty and empower them to do whatever is necessary to steadfastly focus on the systematic issues and connections between problems with the goal of ending poverty in Quebec. Such an anti-poverty office that would be able to develop effective strategies for accomplishing our anti-poverty goals like, recruiting major employers to create hundreds of new jobs accessible to underemployed residents, putting people to work redeveloping city housing inventories to break the concentration of poverty without displacing residents, creating youth employment initiatives focused on combating juvenile delinquency, improving financial literacy education services to help families achieve economic security and grow the middle-class.

Residents in our cities have felt neglected by our local and federal governments over the past seven years. Cuts to local government funding in state budgets have led to a failure of basic governmental services. Lack of funding for local law enforcement has meant police departments are unable to provide adequate cultural awareness programming for officers, which makes it harder to build strong relationships with the communities they serve. We also spend far too much prosecuting minor, nonviolent drug offenses. We should permit collecting taxes on legalized marijuana for adults to help cover the costs of improving essential community services.

In addition to being less safe, our cities lack affordable housing options to keep and attract residents. The National Low-Income Housing Coalition’s 2017 report found the average wage needed to afford a two bedroom rental in Quebec was $12.24 an hour, but the average renter earned a wage of just $9.70 an hour. The fact is that housing is too expensive for most renters is a national travesty. One way we are going to fix it is a 15 billion dollar program to build affordable housing.

We also need to work to improve local government services and fix housing issues by Restoring Basic Government Functions. Local governments are the primary deliverers of service in any state, but we fail to recognize that when we make decisions about state laws. Local governments throughout Quebec have experienced erosions in their tax bases as a result of the Great Recession, but due to outdated laws it will take decades for local tax bases to return to what they were before the recession. Basic governmental functions – like road maintenance, snow plowing and salting, trash and recycling pick-up programs, effective community health systems, municipal policing and fire protection – all rely on healthy local government budgets.

We should push for revisions that provide opportunities for local governments to diversify their revenue streams, benefit from local economic growth and recover more quickly from a recession. State local tax structures, in some areas of the nation are a quarter of a century old and in need of revision. We need to work to permit local governments to implement new revenue solutions, like a lost potential assessment on undeveloped or vacant property. This would incentivize land speculators to make use of their assets, or sell them to someone who will. We must give our cities fiscally responsible options to address blight and the lack of affordable housing.

We also need to reach across the aisle and pass legislation to help establish things like a public lighting authority which is a proven way to have a drastic reduction in crime rates. As well as have cities partnering with local businesses and police to install and use security cameras to create a safer community for residents and visitors.

Additionally my government will work with members of parliament to Abolish density restrictions in cities to increase the supply of housing and reduce housing prices, freeing up consumer spending in other areas, Reduce occupational licencing requirements for vocations such as hairdressing. They disproportionately hurt small business and minority owned businesses, and offer barriers to entry for the poor seeking to be upwardly mobile, eliminate off street parking minimums, which force valuable land to be set aside for parking as well as investing in lead paint abatement programs. Over 35,000 children annually are poisoned by lead in Quebec stunting IQ's and increasing their likelihood of crime later on. Most lead exposure comes from aging housing stock, affecting the poor on top of increasing transportation spending to 30 billion dollars this year for our budget.

All of these things will help make our city's, and the citizens in those cities safer by injecting much needed help. God bless you all! Vive notre québec gratuit!”

Russophilia party join the presidential election, parliament rejected

    12th January 2019

==================================================================================================================

Pro-Russian party "The Opposition Bloc", which is banned by the Ukrainian government, is seeking a chance of entering the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada.

On the Facebook page of "The Opposition Bloc", president of the party, Yuriy Boyko, said that the party are going to win the presidential election "gloriously", and will improve the relationships with Russia, which is currently in deep hot water.

Although his speech encouraged the people to support him, who are mainly from eastern and central Ukraine, the members of the Verkhovna Rada are not welcoming this new political party which might change the relationships of two Slavic nations, and even the situation in the parliament.

"This party will surely bring danger to Ukraine, definitely.", said Arseniy Yatsenyuk. "We should never, I mean we must not welcome these 'disguised Russian column' to our parliament unless you want Ukraine to be totally destroyed," he said.

The parliament agrees that "The Opposition Bloc" cannot join the parliament either the presidential election on the 10th January, with nearly 300 voted "Yes".

This somehow "triggered" some of the supporters of The Opposition Bloc, as it have to continue to stay in the banned Ukrainian political parties list. President Oleh Tyahnybok warns the Russophilia parties to stop doing such "meaningless and impossible actions" as "Ukrainians will never accept them as the new government, hundreds of anti-government protests would tear up the entire Ukrainian society, and turning the nation into chaos."

Hamas fired A rocket towards Great israel, The IDF retaliated with air strikes! - article by The Jerusalem Post news.

The Israeli Air force struck targets in the northern Gaza Strip late Saturday night, the IDF reported.

"IDF fighter jets attacked two underground infrastructures belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in the northern Gaza Strip in response to a rocket launch from the Gaza Strip earlier in the evening," the IDF statement read. According to media reports F-16s attacked several targets in North Gaza and east of Khan Younis and fighter helicopters were spotted over the northern Strip. Several massive explosions were heard in Central Gaza, with some sources saying the destruction of tunnels led to the explosions. The strikes come in response to a rocket that was fired from the strip against Israel earlier on Saturday evening.

The rocket landed in open territory. No casualties were reported.

The rocket was fired in retaliation of IDF's resistance against the massive riot in the Gaza border. About 13,000 Palestinians set tires aflame, and hurled rocks and explosive devices at IDF forces along the border on Friday during weekly “March of Return” demonstrations, as troops responded with crowd dispersal measures, as well as live fire. The military said the Palestinians participated in the riots along the security fence, burning tires, throwing rocks, fire bombs and hand grenades toward troops, and trying to breach the security fence.
The riots started when interior minister of Israel's government, openly and publicly stated "There has to be A time we have to consider an Iron-fist treatment toward terrorist prisoners, because as of now we make it worth it to terrorize."

"The Hamas terrorist organization is responsible for what is happening in and out of the Gaza Strip," the IDF spokesperson said, adding that "the IDF will continue to act in defense of Israeli citizens and against terror from the Gaza Strip".

Ismail Radwan, a Hamas official in the Gaza Strip announced during the riots that "The march of return is our struggle against the Zionist regime and we will not stop until the whole of Palestine will be liberated. It Is only the interior minister's fault for the starting of our intifada-like riot."

"We can never imagine A modern, western, sovereign and independent state suffering the acts of terrorism without harsh retaliation, and only within our holy state, the criticism is just ridiculous," Said the spokesperson of the New Sanhedrin part, the ruling party. "Its time we will promote A full-scale retaliation, by any means necessary."

Political violence in the West bank seems to take on another level

The race for the complete retirement of Mahmoud Abbas AKA Abu mazen, the President of the Palestinian Authority, is taking massive steps towards violence. The PA seemed to be somewhat stable during the Abu-Mazen era, but its only A matter of time before he announces complete resignation and retirement from politics. Different factions within the PA, and even Fatah itself, added fuel to the tensions and the fear of another Palestinian civil war is going. The 2 main factions within the PA, are of Mohammed Dahlan, former preventive security force leader in Gaza and one of Fatah's founders, and and Jibril Rajoub, A major Fatah member and former preventive security force leader in the Bank. Both are having A cold war of succeeding Abu Mazen in presidency of the PA, but people seem to fear the day after Abbas, as stablization seems far from reach. Its also important to note the Fatah-Hamas violence had restarted again in recent months. Its yet to be seen what will the PA will do in order to prioritize Palestinian interests, but for now, the agenda of the PA in protecting Palestinian rights is far from being the truth, and corruption seems inevitable.

Far-right Vox pledges to support center-right government in Andalusia

Spain’s far-right party Vox on Wednesday said it will support Juan Manuel Moreno, the Popular Party (PP)’s candidate to replace the Socialist Party (PSOE)’s Susana Díaz at the helm of the Andalusian government.

The decision comes after Vox and the PP resumed talks on Wednesday after failed negotiations on Tuesday. Regional PP leaders had spoken out against making concessions to the far-right party.

Vox had produced a list of 19 demands in exchange for supporting Moreno. The PP has reached a power-sharing deal with the center-right Ciudadanos to form a new government after 36 years of Socialist administrations, but the deal requires support from the 12 lawmakers that Vox obtained at the December 2 election.

Moreno gave a news conference on Wednesday afternoon to explain his party’s deal with Ciudadanos, which entails sharing out 11 regional departments. Vox has not been invited to hold any positions in this government structure, but its backing for Moreno is crucial in order to ensure that Susana Díaz is not reinstated.

Vox’s original list of demands include the repeal of regional legislation affording special protection to women and LGTBI groups, and the creation of new laws to protect bullfighting, hunting and “popular culture and traditions.” The far-right group also wants to deport 52,000 undocumented migrants and eliminate public subsidies for “feminist supremacists” and for “Islamic associations.”

On Tuesday, the PP and Vox spent five hours behind closed doors, but the former deemed the proposals from the far-right group as “unacceptable.” A second meeting took place on Wednesday morning at a Madrid hotel, where PP representatives walked in with an alternative document. And they came together again in the afternoon at the Andalusian parliament.

Isabel Bonig, president of the PP in the Valencia region, and Fernando López-Miras, who heads the Murcia branch, said they would not accept Vox’s 19-point list.

“This is not being easy at all,” said PP sources familiar with the talks.

Socialist candidate

Meanwhile, the nomination of Susana Díaz for regional premier is still on the table. On Tuesday, the acting spokesperson of the Andalusian parliament, Juan Carlos Blanco, and the PSOE spokesperson, Mario Jiménez, insisted that the acting premier remains the “most legitimate” candidate. But she needs more votes in the chamber than the PP candidate, Juan Manuel Moreno. To manage this Díaz would need 17 votes from the left-wing Podemos and United Left (IU)-backed Adelante Andalucía. That would give her 50 votes versus the 47 the PP candidate could secure.

But this equation would not be simple. Adelante Andalucía said on Tuesday that they are willing to block the PP-Ciudadanos-Vox deal by backing a candidate who could take on some of their main policy points. But it appears that Díaz does not fit the bill for the party, according to its leader, Antonio Maíllo. PSOE sources say that they have no intention of proposing a candidate other than Susana Díaz.

Brian Gallant announces candidacy for Prime Minister

Brian Gallant, Governor of New Boudreaux (formerly known as New Brunswick while under Canadian rule) has announced his candidacy to become the Parti libéral Nominee for Prime Minister. Speaking in Moncton in front of the crowd he gave the following speech.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and girls. Prime Minister Bérubé has done terrible things. He claims that unrestricted capitalism is the key to freedom. But when I see poverty in the streets because tax cuts for Business is more important than welfare I weep. When I see hard working people in my state suffering from high income taxes, while we continue to pay for things like subsidized free-market healthcare and not a single payer system. We subsidize business that has already been unburdened from “harsh” regulation and even taxation while private schools continue to hurt public education. Profit-seeking companies are organized to maximize their bottom line at every turn which will naturally lead to extreme policies and outcomes. We need government leaders who are truly laser-focused on the public interest above all else and will lead companies to act accordingly. We need to make the markets serve us rather than the other way around. Capitalism as an economic system has led to unparalleled innovation and improvement in the human condition. Many consider it to have “won” the war of ideas against socialism, but that simplistic view ignores that there is no such thing as a pure Capitalist system. And our current version of institutional capitalism and corporatism is a relatively recent development. Our current emphasis on corporate profits isn’t working for the vast majority of Americans. This will only be made worse by the development of automation technology and AI. We need to move to a new form of capitalism – Human Capitalism – that’s geared towards maximizing human well-being and fulfillment. The central tenets of Human Capitalism are:

1. Humans are more important than money
2. The unit of a Human Capitalism economy is each person, not each dollar
3. Markets exist to serve our common goals and values

The focus of our economy should be to maximize human welfare. Sometimes this aligns with a purely capitalist approach, where different entities compete for the best ideas. But there are plenty of times when a capitalist system leads to suboptimal outcomes. Think of an airline refusing to honor your ticket because they can get more money from a customer who purchases last-minute, or a pharmaceutical company charging extortionate rates for a life-saving drug because the customers are desperate. there are many forms of capitalism in service around the world right now. Singapore is the 4th richest country in the world in terms of per capita GDP. It has had an unemployment rate of 2.2% or lower since 2009 and is regarded as one of the most free and open, pro-business economies in the world. Yet the government in Singapore regularly shapes investment policy and government-linked firms dominate telecommunications, finance, and media in ways that would be unthinkable here. We need to lower income tax on the poor and middle class, re-tax large business, Lower the Value Added Tax and cut Property Tax, Regulators need to be focused on making the right decisions and policies for the public with zero concern for their next position, Change the way we measure the economy, from GDP and the stock market to a more inclusive set of measurements that ensures humans are thriving, not barely making it by. New measurements like Median Income and Standard of Living, Health-adjusted Life Expectancy, Mental Health, Childhood Success Rates, Social and Economic Mobility, Absence of Substance Abuse, and other measurements will give us a much clearer and more powerful sense of how we are doing both individually and as a society. Lastly the government’s goal should be to drive individuals and organizations to find new ways to improve the standards of living of individuals and families.

With More Human centered capitalism we can afford things like Universal Healthcare, A federal welfare state, Public education, Debt Free Higher Education, Renewable energy independence and more! We can make Quebec moral again, safe again, and liberal again! God bless you all! Vive notre québec gratuit!”

Renaming Belize

Before Belize intered the federal republic as the 7th province competing the Federal Republic of Central America, it was part of the British Empire since 1862 and was called British Honduras later changed to Belize. The origins of the name "Belize" is believed to come frok Delgado's "Balis" which actually comes from the Mayan word "Belix" meaning "muddy-watered." Recently for Central Americans living in or out of Belize the name "Belize" seems unpatriotic, a name given by the British rathern than themselves. Many citizens have asked for the renaming of the country to something given by Central Americans, something the represents the nation and its culture.

Many students have suggested names such as "Peten Oriental" or "Costa Caracol." While other have suggested "Alvarado" the person who conquered guatemala and other provinces. While its still not now which is going be pocked, but many are looking forward for tye new name.

Italy wins Senate approval for 2019 budget

The budget passed to the lower house of parliament for a vote by 10th of January, so that it can take effect as soon as possible. The governing coalition of Italy's 5-Star Movement and the right-wing League scored majority approval with 167 to 78 votes in favour, with three abstention. The European Commission reached a deal with Italy over the budget on Wednesday after months of disagreements, narrowly avoiding disciplinary action. The final text of the budget only arrived at the Italian senate yesterday after a series of extensive changes, which angered opposition lawmakers.

Former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi branded the budget law "a joke", while deputy prime minister Luigi Di Maio said the plans must get through parliament before the end of the year.

In October, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte's government had initially proposed a budget which expanded its deficit to 2.4 per cent of GDP, up from 1.8 per cent in 2018. Compromising with the EU this month, this was then narrowed to 2.04 per cent of GDP for the next year, while lowering economic outlook to one per cent. The commission had threatened Conte it would discipline his government over its excessive deficit, saying it broke the EU’s fiscal rules.

MAP Chairmen Recep Tayyip Erdoğan speech uploaded to social media

With both the MAP and MHP coalition tasked to pick the next Prime Minister of Turkey, it has put the right wing coalition at odds, with the religious and nationalist factions vying for power. When the announcement was made by the President it caused a brawl between two MPs from each respective party, since then neither party has come face to face in a meeting, and have remained largely silent since. Today MAP Chairmen Erdoğan broke this trend, as his speech was uploaded to MAP Social Media calling for unity amongst the Sovereignty Coalition.

"Selamun aleyküm brothers and sisters, with only 10 days remaining the time to make a choice and move towards a stronger Turkey is now. Many will make the argument in favour of Devlet Bahçeli, however let this be known. It was under Bahçeli's presidency that Prime Minister Ceyda Bozkurt leave this country to marry the Shah of Persia. It was under the Bahçeli's presidency that his own son, Gökhan Oğuz and Meral Akşener took over the country. It was because of the mistakes made during Bahçeli's presidency that Hulusi Akar and the Turkish Armed forces had to take over the government and form a provisional government. It was because of Bahçeli's presidency that we sent our sons and daughters to die in the Sahara for a meaningless war. It was because of the Bahçeli's presidency that we sent our sons and daughters to die Iraq, and if he becomes the Prime Minister we will see our sons and daughters die in the battlefields of Iraq and Syria once again. Brothers and sisters, I say this, the Bahçeli's contributions to this nation are endless, but there is a reason he was removed from power. There is a reason why he has been out of office for over three years. The time for traditional Turkish values to return to the forefront of Turkish society, it is time for us to once again join our Islamic brothers across the world against the state of Israel. It is time for us to stand by the Uyghur's whose prayers go unanswered under the regime in Beijing. Bahçeli fancies himself as a nationalist, even a turnaist, but when has he called for Uyghur rights. He was the leader of this great nation for almost a decade, and when his time came. He was voted out of office. All the polls suggest the same story, with eight out of ten polls suggesting my favourability atleast 5% higher than Bahçeli's across the nation. Brothers and sisters of the Sovereignty Coalition, when the time comes to vote on the future, if we are unable to reach the required votes for either myself or Mr. Bahçeli. Then Prime Minister Oğuz will continue his duties as Prime Minister and will see our coalition fall apart. As I will make this promise, if Bahçeli does not give into our demands, and allow for a change in the government. We will withdraw from the Sovereignty coalition, along with the Saadet Party. Thank you, and may Allah bless you."

Early reports from MHP headquarters suggest that Bahçeli is nothing short of furious, but until an official response is made it is uncertain to know.

Where had Martina gone?

Former Prime Minister Martina Nastich-Stoitchich, who lead a cabinet in a period 2010-2018, had been completely isolated from media for almost whole period since her resignation in middle-July 2018, after her comeback from EU Summit in Paris. It is still not clear was she forced to resign due to coup that was organized by her own Ministers in cabinet, or it was her decission to resign due to pregnancy. Today, she is in eight month of pregnancy, with just one interview since resignation behind her and birth-giving in a less than month ahead of her.

In very onliest interview that she gave in October 2018, she said that she is isolated in media by people from DHSS who took control after defeat of her political ideas and her personally, which looked out to be true. Now, one of the people who benefited the most from her defeat - next in a line of Prime Ministers, DHSS leader Vojislav Koprivica had resigned in late December 2018, not being able to serve on a head of cabinet even for one calendar year, due to blockade by his coalition partners. After what now is looking like a disappearing of DHSS, there's a rising question: What would happen with Martina Nastich-Stoitchich's public image after elections on January 20th? Would her isolation change anyhow?

Since it is expected that SDP would be able to form a government, lead by current techincal Prime Minister Adam Markovich, it looks like she could finaly return to public life. During her fall from power, her key coalition partners SDP stood silent and observed what is happening in her own party. Not a single comment came out by her Minister of Interior and SDP leader Igor Mittenovich. His silence costed DHSS leader and next PM Koprivica his ruling position, because it is widely believed that Koprivica's government falled in December due to his personnal conflict with key partner - Mittenovich. It is interesting to mention that even Martina Nastich-Stoitchich herself declared positive opinion about Mittenovich, about whom she said: "He is an opportunist, like his father was, but he is a great politician who would be President of Serbia one day".

It looks like there may be some kind of secret pact between Nastich-Stoitchich and Mittenovich. For now, it is still unclear, but elections that are coming just a few weeks before her birth-giving would be main media topic is probably greatest timing for her to come back in public focus. It also provides her large medium to give some clear political statements, on margins of both happenings. All in all, as she had concluded in her October interview, she is still younger than 40 years, so it is still not too late for her to return into active political life. Would she do that, we are all going to see. There are still many unclear topics, like what kind of change would that mean for her own party DS, which is now sitting in a large coalition ZP, composed with parties EPZ and LPS, which were both strong opposition to DS during her reign. Also, it is pretty unclear what kind of impact would her possible return cause on DS leader and former twice-terms Prime Minister Jovan Kovachevich.

It all smells like February would be a period for her to talk seriously with both Mittenovich and Kovachevich about her political future and ability to return into public life, just a 6 months after she had resigned, with a public support destroyed by people who later destroyed their own public support, due to their own innability to rule from a position of reaction to her political and ideological legacy.

ABC: A breif history of nazism in Australia
            By Joel Watson

Radicalisation camps, fight clubs, hate campaigns and covert plans to infiltrate major political parties — this is the landscape for the far right in Australia today.

Some groups, like the Antipodean Resistance, don't shy away from the Nazi label, with swastikas, Sieg Heil salutes and posters calling for the extermination of Australia's Jews.

Others — including the Australia First Party, the United Patriots Front, the New Guard — don't outwardly identify with Nazism but have doctrines littered with fascist ideas. A recent wave of far right rallies, one attended by independent Senator Fraser Anning, have sparked controversy.

But Australian Nazism is nothing new; it's almost as old as its German progenitor.

"While it has ebbed and flowed, Nazism has had a presence in Australia from World War II, and then on," historian Jordana Silverstein says.

Hitler's fellow travellers

In the 1930s, Adolf Hitler's reputation was far from the personified evil that history has come to know. Future prime minister Robert Menzies, after a visit to Germany in 1938, wrote that the "abandonment by the Germans of individual liberty … has something rather magnificent about it". This type of sentiment, combined with the discontent borne from the Great Depression, laid fertile ground for Nazism to be, at the very least, tolerated in Australia. German doctor Johannes Becker was appointed the Australian trustee for the Nazi party after he migrated to South Australia in the late 1920s. He built a small but faithful base of Nazi loyalists from within South Australia's German expat community. Due to internal Nazi party politics and the pressure of Australian security agencies, Becker's power never stretched beyond a small group.

But Nazism continued to brew within the Australian cultural establishment. Not long after the outbreak of war, Percy 'Inky' Stephensen, a formidable writer and publisher, founded the Nazi-inspired Australia First Movement. In between publishing the works of Banjo Paterson and vice-chairing meetings of the Fellowship of Australian Writers, Stephensen became an obsessive believer in Jewish world conspiracy.

This conspiracy, a pillar of Nazi thought, suggested a Jewish plan for global domination detailed in the 'Protocols of the Elders of Zion', a fabricated text first printed in Russia. Stephensen's movement boasted members of great prominence: the namesake of Australia's foremost literary award Miles Franklin and Adela Pankhurst of the famous suffragist family, amongst others.

The group advocated for the pseudoscience of eugenics, and the establishment of a nationalist corporate state. Stephensen was the most publicly visible of what historian David Bird describes as "a surprisingly diverse group of Australians of similar persuasion". "Australian Nazis were not only on the fringes but made up by a selection of more mainstream political travellers, tourists, writers, poets, mystics, aesthetes and academic thinkers," he says. The group was eventually suppressed by Australian security agencies after it pushed for a political alliance with the Axis powers of Germany, Italy and Japan.Stephensen was interned for much of World War II. He spent almost three years in a camp without trial — a decision described by Australia's official war historian Paul Hasluck as the "grossest infringement of individual liberty made during the war".

A Nazi resurgence

The wounds of the war imprinted a pariah status on Nazism, rendering it more or less politically untouchable for the remainder of the century. Far right groups, like the League of Rights, tended to avoid the labels of Nazism or fascism when promoting their brand of politics.

Yet not two decades had passed before University of Adelaide physics student Ted Cawthron and council worker Don Lindsay convened in 1962 to form the Australian National Socialist Party. Vigorously anti-communist, the party argued for the perpetuation of the White Australia policy, a defensive approach to Asia and the total annexation of New Guinea. It consisted entirely of Cawthron and Lindsay, until they were joined the following year by Arthur Smith, a prominent political figure known for his outward anti-Semitism and aggressive tactics. Smith, as the party's first leader, managed to slightly increase membership by merging with a host of other motley white supremacist groups in Melbourne. The height of the party's publicity came when its headquarters were raided by police in 1964. Smith was convicted of possessing unlicensed firearms, explosives, and stolen goods.

When Smith finally remerged in the late '60s, several of his members had defected to form the competing-yet-almost-indistinguishably-titled National Socialist Party of Australia. The new-look party aimed to shake the jackbooted image by giving Nazism a sensible electorally-focused visage. It unsuccessfully contested the May 1970 ACT by-election, and many subsequent polls in Queensland. Its small spotlight slowly faded as membership plummeted. he party's influence lingered only through vice-president Jim Saleam, then 17 years old, who went onto found the Australia First Party in 1996. Mr Saleam remains a steady fixture in the far right. He contested last year's by-election in the outer Brisbane electorate of Longman — receiving less than 1 per cent of the vote.

In the internet age

In Australia today, as with overseas, the far right has been emboldened by the internet, which has allowed fascist groups to gain unprecedented reach across borders. "We are seeing a modern incarnation of Australian Nazism, which picks up on many of the threads in the past, but which adapts to the current moment," Dr Silverstein says. "The current movement is blending together both European Nazism and Australian white supremacy, racism and colonialism." A spread of far right groups, often with only minor ideological variations between them, are employing a range of tactics to spread and exercise their message. The United Patriots Front, for example, attempted to arrange vigilante patrols last year to help maintain law and order in some Melbourne suburbs, in a stated response to "Gangs of Africans".

Late last year, an investigation by ABC's Background Briefing exposed a coordinated attempt of another group, 'the Lads Society', to infiltrate and then influence the Young Nationals in NSW. Of all these groups, however, it is the Antipodean Resistance that takes the title of being the most explicitly Nazi in outlook. It is the real-life form of the once-online far right network The Iron March — its logo combines a laurel wreath with a swastika. The group describes itself as a youth organisation that adheres to National Socialism as an "embodiment of health values" matched with an unrelenting mission to "keep Australia white". It was thrust into the public eye when it claimed responsibility for a series of Chinese-language posters at universities threatening Chinese students with deportation. In recent years, the group has organised a series of 'radicalisation camps' in which members undertake combat training and practise their survival skills in trips to national parks. Images posted to their social media show young men with faces hidden by an akubra-wearing skull — a confronting tribute to the emblem of Nazi Germany's SS death squads.

Its members are a far cry from handsomely dressed, highly educated, cultured figures like Inky Stephenson and his contemporaries. But Nazism, in its 21st century form, is no less insidious.

Tax Reform

Today Parliament passed a plan to help close up loopholes, eliminate deductions that don't help the economy and lowered tax rates. The Tax Reform and Economic Development Act will...

Abolish the mortgage interest tax deduction, which encourages larger homes to large to be built, reducing supply and driving up prices.

End charitable giving tax deductions, which don't actually increase charitable giving, and disproportionately help the wealthy dodge taxes.

Curtail conservation easement tax deductions for golf courses, which have little conservation benefit.

Prohibit golf courses from receiving tax deductions for the donation of their development rights.

End the gambling loss tax deduction.

Reform the subsidizing of flood insurance, and allow repetitive loss properties to become uninsurable. The subsidy is often regressive in coastal areas, and results in loss of life, as too many people live in risky areas.

Cut federal funds to expand vital irrigation water to agriculture.

Expand Inheritance tax so that all wealthy individuals must pay and use that revenue to Double the Earned Income Tax Credit, which encourages employment, and lifts millions out of poverty.

And address climate change by implementing a carbon tax.

This will free up $24,085,424,803.44 automatically for the 2019 Budget allowing for a surplus budget as well as create $3,010,596,812.04 more in wealth from the carbon Tax. It is believed that this extra revenue will be used to eliminate the Value Added Tax and cut Property Tax. This is the second tax reform bill since Prime Minister Pascal Bérubé got into office in 2013. His first tax bill eliminated business and capital gain tax in return for a expanded income tax/localization of welfare to the states.

Brian Gallant, Presumptive Parti libéral Nominee for Prime Minister said about the tax reform: “I applaud the Prime Minister on making real changes for the everyday citizen of Quebec. However it is troubling that he intends to eliminate the Value Added Tax. It is the last real tax on corporations we have and I cannot support the continued subsidy of large business at the expense of real entrepreneurs.

Prime Minister Pascal Bérubé Will NOT Seek Re-election!

In a televised address to the nation Prime Minister Pascal Bérubé announced that he will not seek re-election. Saying… ”Over the last 6 years we have created the most free market in the western hemisphere. We have created programs to put the unemployed to work. We reversed the trend of economic downturn and we have given local governments control over welfare. We transformed Healthcare by giving direct subsidies based on cost of living, salary, and how healthy you are, creating new vouchers and tax credits to those who need it most while also creating 100,000 new jobs in insurance. We have eliminated 16,000 pages of regulation and we did it all in 6 years… We have transformed Quebec into the global ideal. I couldn't be more proud of us. And It is with all this success that I am proud to say I don't believe I need to run again. I did everything I could and we did it right. I was the youngest man ever elected Prime Minister at only 37. I have my life ahead of me and my kids to think about now. Parti Québécois has been transformed from the uncompromising radicalized party it once was into a party that respects Moderate Pragmatism, Capitalism and Reform. It is that legacy I am most proud of. That is why I Endorse our President and my good friend François Legault as my successor. In the coming days he is announcing his campaign. It has been the greatest honour of my life to be this nations prime minister. God bless you all! Vive notre québec gratuit!”
