Some Extra Recuritment
Charlotte would walk through the palace gate letter in hand. this wouldnt be unusual. being friends with most of the Columbian Royals and being from a family infulential in the politics of The Maryland Commonwealth. this wouldn't be out of the ordinary. however Charlotte had another goal in mind instead of just visiting friends for idle chit chat. Shaun had requsted that she, in the most unsupcious way possible deliver a letter from drummer. in which shuan would be posing as a mysterious benefactor willing to assist them against the Imperium's plaguing influence in Columbia. she looks around the Palace grounds a bit before walking into the palace itself

Charlotte: "Huh...No Margret or Conner. I guess this gives me some time to look around for..."Drummer?" What does she even look like. I know what she sounds like cause I heard it this morning when she gave that address to Congress or whatever...What kinda name is drummer anyway. why would you be named after an instrument player..."

We can still do that plotline we were planning right?

The lag is cringe but at least the site is back. I'll have to watch out for the lag when I'm doing stuff.

I don't want a part in that conflict.

Leave me be!

Genocide
As the ripples of the Columbian expansion travelled into the quiet and peaceful Equestrian systems and sectors, concern, shock, and outrage would grow among the citizens. The Columbians clearly knew nothing of peace or peaceful expansion. Indeed the Imperialists of Equestria would be horrified and demand that Equestria expand twice as much in order to show the Columbians how a proper nation expanded. The isolationists demanded that Equestria close their borders, and others still, demanded that Columbia be held accountable by the galactic community. Quickly all eyes would turn to the Archduchess, waiting for her move.

High above Canterlot, Ophelia read page after page after page of reports on genocide, it was astounding the sheer amount of individuals who were killed. However, examining her options she found nothing good. If she remained silent, the people would think that she approved of it, if she spoke out, the Hegemony was bound to want a meeting with her, and if she directly condemned Columbia…it would go directly against Hegemonic goals.

She rose from her desk pondering the matter, ultimately she would bend to the Imperialists…using the expansion of the Columbians to initiate an Equestrian expansion within the Milkdromeda. But this time she didn’t want to pick away at systems she wanted to engulf them. As a map of Milkdromeda appeared glimmering before her, she quietly drew gold lines across systems and stars, each one marked to be bent towards Equestria.

A madness seemed to burn within Ophelia, nothing like that of her mother thankfully. It was a controlled blaze that bent to the will of its owner, few could conquer the mind or the heart, and to control them, it was near impossible…yet Ophelia had managed to keep them both in check, working in sync like a clock. In the same way she would lead the Equestrian Space Force to glory, ordering every available ship to begin journeying towards her golden lines.

Onboard these ships, thousands of officers and soldiers hurried around like ants, all helping move the vast system that was Equestria. To Ophelia, Equestria wasn’t just a nation, it was an ideal, an ideology of billions. A vast mechanical clockwork, and she was its master, its caretaker.

Moving to the vast windows of her office she looked out over the vast and glimmering city of Canterlot, the heart of a vast empire. She had outdone her ancestors…having taken Equestria from ruins to its current status in the Hegemony. Yet it hurt her a little, to think that Equestria needed the Hegemony to maintain peace and national security. How could she be a good mother to her people if she couldn’t even defend the country without aid?

She pushed these thoughts away, they were nothing but insecurities and insecurity breeds mistakes. Turning back to her desk she would throw the reports of the genocides into the trashcan by her desk. These things were concerning, but expected, however…why should Equestria involve itself in something it had no part in?
——-/——/——////—

Thousands of Lightyears away one of the largest fleets to be assembled by the Equestrian Space Force flew towards the Milkdromeda galaxy, led by Baldwin of Jerusalem, they would move silently across shipping lanes and past the many systems Equestria held. Finally entering Milkdromeda, the 2 million or so ships would pause briefly waiting for orders. A single word would arrive… “Go.”, with that the 2 million ships would rearrange formation and begin their journey, heading to the systems south of the Equestrian Milkdromedan border.

The systems just beyond the southern border were duds, cold lifeless planets surrounding a dying star, albeit, image scans would show some of these planets to be rich in rare minerals, as such a few bases would be laid on these planets here in order to extract the minerals. These bases would be small affairs, nothing more than 400 people and a small group of soldiers, the planets were empty, and thus what matter was it to need a major garrison?

Journeying further along the galactic border the fleet would encounter its first livable planet. Artaxis was what it was called on some maps of the region, indeed the people on the planet seemed to be primitive humanoids, dwelling in stone cities. However, the appearance of a massive fleet over their planet, and seemingly hostile forces would most certainly cause alarm, and an attack would be launched against the landing forces.

The attack wasn’t a surprise to Baldwin, nor the other officers and generals who had gone to take part of the voyage, however, the ferocity of the attack was indeed surprising. These fanged humanoids would utilise guerilla tactics to undermine Equestrian forces, initially causing the Equestrian forces to withdraw with heavy losses of equipment and men.

Initial estimates showed that using ground warfare the planet would be taken over in 5-6 years…something Baldwin didn’t want to wait for, thus he’d order a full aerial assault on the planet. The assault would utilise high-powered plasma guns on the surface of the planet, tearing holes into the dense foliage of part of the planet, and alighting the vast dry plains that lined the oceans and beaches of the planet.

As the planet burned, a second ground assault was launched, this time with further success as the Artaxites were at this point convinced that the Equestrians were gods. It stunned Baldwin that such societies existed still, and in his meeting with the different tribal leaders he surmised that they had brains the size of peas and were only able to exist as a civilisation by divine providence.

The Assault on the planet of Artaxis had caused concern back in Canterlot, as people called upon the Equestrian government to do whatever it took to avoid a genocide. Indeed the National Security Council was trying to heavily minimise local losses on the planet, primarily due to the looming shadow of the Archduchess, who had sacked previous security councils on a whim.

Luckily for them, it appeared that they would be able to keep their jobs, as preliminary number counts showed only 45,000 locals had passed away due to the attacks, which while still too high, was still far lower than the Columbians.
The fleet would continue through these systems south of Equestria, having taken 200 systems already thanks to the fact that the majority of these planets were either duds or if they were livable, the locals had died out centuries before. Indeed the lack of living intelligent species and nations on this side of the galaxy was perplexing, with many of the ethnobiologists and sociologists on the mission surmising that either the planets were uninhabited due to how far they were from other habitable planets, or some terrible larger precursor nation had done misery on the planets and wiped out the populations.

Indeed there were signs of several formerly highly complex societies having existed, with massive ruins telling tales of advancement and intellect. Correlation of data based upon the finds would show that approximately 900-1,400 years prior there had been a small empire that existed across 500-1,000 systems that had died out…or had it?

As the Equestrian fleet travelled further south, having now taken 780 systems south of the Equestrian territories the ruins became less and less, and signs of a civilisation began to appear on many of the planets they came across. Then came Orvis.

The expeditionary fleet would arrive over Orvis, and would quickly be met by a communication from the planet which would shriek at them…

“Who are you!”

Baldwin was startled by the sudden transmission, having just spent 4-months having had no transmissions besides jumbled and fragmentary remnants of messages both welcoming and warning.

The Equestrian capital ship would send back a reply.

“This is the Starship Cleon, Capital Ship of the Equestrian Imperial Space Force.”

It wouldn’t take long for a reply to come back.

“Did you say Equestrian?”

Baldwin would send a simple ‘yes’, becoming curious as to how they knew of Equestria.

The answer would come quickly as the valley girlesque comm would shriek again.

“OMG! OMG! EQUESTRIANS! OMG! WOW! OMG!”

Baldwin would look over at a dwarf who was holding his ears to block out the irritating voice, Baldwin was also mildly annoyed, wondering if this was some Hyperborean owned planet that Equestria didn’t know about, or that he hadn’t been informed about.

An alarm would begin to blare as a small silver ship darted from the surface of the planet, causing Baldwin to order the defences on his ship to be readied…sending a comm to the small ship ordering them to state their intention. A calm voice would reply,

“Initiating Diplomatic Contact, this is Prince Sunbeam Emberheart of Atlantia,”

Now Baldwin was really intrigued, Atlantia was a very specific name adopted by Equestria in 1601 and finally being discarded in the 2610s-20s reforms of Empress Selano. Could the nations be related? Or was it merely a coincidence? Nodding to a few officers on the bridge Baldwin would head to the landing bay where the silver ship had been admitted.

The door to the ship would open and a strange figure stepped off the ship, a grinning humanoid-equine would appear, waving at the silent assemblage of crew and soldiers.

“Greetings Prince Sunbeam,” stated Baldwin, moving forward to greet the prince.

“Hello there!” Replied Sunbeam enthusiastically.

Baldwin would nod politely, “So, would you mind telling us who you are, and what this country is?” he asked.

“Yes, I am Prince Sunbeam Emberheart, current head of state for the Atlantian Confederation of systems.” Replied Sunbeam.

“Any relation to the Atlantian Empire?” enquired Baldwin.

“Yes, we are the remnants of that empire after its collapse in 2199, 2200.” replied Sunbeam.

Mutters would fill the room as people marvelled at the news that had just been spoken.

“Huh, interesting, and what else is there about this confederation?” Asked Baldwin.

“Yes, we are led by a head of state who is elected from one of three noble houses…House Emberheart, House Den-Jaar, and House Vyarngul. All of whom trace their lineage back to the founder of the confederation, the Governor Prince Orion Belzaar.” Replied Sunbeam.

“And how many systems make up this confederation?” asked Baldwin.

“2,500 to 3,000 systems…the number is officially unknown due to recent events which have seen several systems break off.” replied Sunbeam.

Baldwin raised his eyebrow at the massive number, perhaps reunification was in order. He moved to tell one of his officers to go and alert the Archduchess of the matter.

“I wonder if the Confederation would be interested in a reunification with the Equestrian homeland?” enquired Baldwin.

“It would have to pass a referendum, and I see that as highly unlikely, since we have nearly 500 years of history on our side now.” replied Sunbeam.

“Ah, I see…the reason I asked was because Equestria is trying to rebuild the Atlantian empire, under a new name of course, Equestria.” replied Baldwin.

Sunbeam nodded, “Impressive,” he replied.

“Yes,” replied Baldwin, “Empress Ophelia is very much an impressive figure, and it would be an honour for you to meet her.”

“Indeed, the whole nation would be eager to meet her…” replied Sunbeam.

One of the officers returned and whispered something in Baldwin's ear, causing him to jump slightly, a panicked look on his face, “now?” he asked the officer quietly, receiving an affirmative he turned to Sunbeam.

“It seems that you won’t have to wait long to meet her, she is on her way.” he said as officers and soldiers quickly began to rush around in order to prepare for the surprise visit.

Soon enough the gleaming ship of the Archduchess arrived from hyperspace, it’s white hull shining off the lights of the larger cruiser. Sunbeam looked at the symbol emblazoned on the side of the Imperial Cruiser in awe.

Once the cruiser had set down in the landing bay, and the proper security set up, Ophelia and Sunbeam would be guided to the communications room where an announcement would be sent to the Confederation. Ophelia would make a speech about unity and potential reunification, and Sunbeam would merely urge a speedy process of reunification.

It seemed that the reason why Sunbeam and the other equines of the confederation were humanoid-equine mixtures was as a result of 200+ years of breeding and evolution, which eventually saw the hybrid come forth. This was sure to cause a stir among naturalists and nativists in Equestria, as the only humanoid-equine mixtures were those created in labs and there were only 12 of those in Equestria.

As the meeting continued, much would be found out about the Confederacy. It had broken off from Atlantia when it collapsed in 2100 and had gradually expanded itself outward, initially being a hereditary monarchy the nation moved towards constitutionalism in the 2300s-2400s. It had thus been an electorate monarchy ever since.

Ophelia was pleased with the stability of the nation, which she soon came to find out held 2,500 systems, a massive addition to the 700 systems Equestria already held in Milkdromeda. And another massive addition overall to the 2,700 systems Equestria held overall. Albeit most of the systems were sparsely populated and the majority of the 45 billion citizens lived on the city-planet of Deltos.

After a week of meetings and conversations, and a visit to Deltos, the documents for the re-unification were agreed upon, and on July 4, 2722 the Equestrian Empire and Atlantian Confederacy united formally, adding 2,500 systems+the 780 already taken, making for a total of 3,280 new systems added to the 2,700 systems, making Equestria sit at 5,980 total systems.
