Hey hey everyone!
There is a Treaty between Kantrias and the Land of Kings and Emperors up for discussion at this moment! I negotiated this together with Caldemar and would love all of your inputs on it! Head on to the forums and discuss it! ;D

Southern sulter wrote:can we all aggree that Spain is werid. There was the Spanish Inquisition and there is carlism(???), apparatly they REALLY liked the name Carl so they decided to name their traditionalist political movement Carlism

That... no. In regards to the Inquisition, it was the rooting out of heretics (basically anyone not Catholic or who didn't agree with everything the church said), and saw the most action between the reigns of Isabela of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon, and Philip II. It wasn't weird, it was torture and execution on religious grounds. Spain was a heavily Catholic nation, and, to a point, still is. Whilst they obviously aren't killing people anymore, they've always been one of the most Catholic places outside of the Vatican. It isn't weird, just horrid.

Regarding carlism... haha, no. Spanish speaking nations will often name their political movements/ideologies after the founder. In this case, Carlism (Carlismo, which is where our word for it comes from), was "aimed at establishing an alternate branch of the Bourbon Dynasty under Don Carlos" (Wikipedia). It's the same naming process as Francoism, Stalinism, or any other such movement.

Southern sulter wrote:yes, Carl with a C, anyone who calls it karlism is an dum dum

I guess people who don't know what it means might spell it karlism. That doesn't make them dumb, it's just something to bring to their attention, that it comes from Don Carlos and is thus spelled with a "C."

True. Maybe with the people present and we can swap people with the ones that are offline and online without care.

Thanks

I greatly appreciate those who make readily available flags and coats of arms in dispatches, but I'm afraid I will never use them, for they are far less original and unique the more people use them, which is effectively a guarantee

Alright, language time

So, the suffix "burg" (also spelled bourg or berg), found in French, German, and Luxembourgish, means "fort" or "walled city/town/village." Ex. Hamburg, Johannesburg, Luxembourg, etc.

Russia has a similar such suffix: "grad." Grad means the same as "burg," and is found in places like Russia and Ukraine. Ex. Kaliningrad, Petrograd (St. Petersburg), Stalingrad, etc.

I believe Polish has a similar suffix. "Wiec." Several towns end in this suffix, namely Osowiec, a fortress, Królewiec (Königsberg/Kaliningrad), and Sosnowiec, to name a few. After some research, I determined that "wiec" stems from the Polish "wies," meaning village. Thus, "wiec" is the Polish equivalent to "burg/bourg/berg" and "grad."

Too-Technical Japan wrote:(Well gosh frigging oh dear?)

Oh.

The sand was now at her ankles. She seemed to be sinking more slowly than Mara, who was strangely quiet. Wait, she was sleeping. Right.

Hm. There's got to be a flaw in the system. Like when the fear trap devours us. It's all about the end product. So maybe we have to be as far from their desired 'taste' as possible. Maybe get angry, or make the Fear Trap angry?
Ichika unfastened and started chucking random things from her backpack at the ceiling, where the voice boomed from. It was all ruined by the water anyways. She began to recall all the angry thoughts of the past. The time where the mean lady wouldn't let her friends see what was happening on the stage. When the PE teacher did not let her write her name on the board with all the others when her TEAM got the highest number of points.

"SHUT-"
A spare water bottle was lost. It hit something with a dull thud, and something that felt like a shudder echoed throughout the room. Perfect. This would definitely tick the Fear Trap off.

"THE-"
Socks. She doesn't remember putting those there.

"@$#%"
A bathroom pass from her previous school. Might as well put the stolen blank detention slip with it.

"UP!!"
A final fling of Altoids. She had made sure to snag some, the really spicy kind, and jam them into Mara's mouth. All hands on deck, at least the ones available, were needed.

A hand reached out of the abyssal ceiling and caught the tin and crushed it. It was a dark purplish-black color, and looked almost alien. It had clawed fingertips and small spike-looking things on it's wrist. "How stupid to you think I am girl?" He did sound a little angry. "Do you think throwing things at me is going to change anything?" He dropped the tin and the arm disappeared. Mara's eyes popped open. "AH! What the @#$%?!" She was caught off guard. " She looked around frantically for something to grab. "Ichika, try and walk to me!" She said. Ichika felt something grab her leg. "Ah ah ah, no cheating." This creature was starting to get more annoying than anything else.
