White Palace,
the Royal Quarter,
Borje

The Prince-Regent Paul is having a regular weekly audience with the Prime Minister Janez Ivančin. Usually, they exchange a few words about the general state of affairs in the country, the government's agenda and other relevant news or information. However, His Royal Higness is worried about the exiled King and his older brother, Alexander I, who was exiled all the way back in 1998 after an unsuccessful coup trying to institute a royal dictatorship. Namely, after years of travelling abroad, denouncing P-R Paul as illegitimate, loathing about his wealth and living rather lavishly, he was finally arrested in Republia (OOC: bonus points if you get the reference) after they served the international warrant issued by Interslav Public Prosecutor in 1999. His arrest haas caused a colossal media attention in Interslavija as the Interslavi people await whether the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will stamp the request for extradition, at which point He will systematically be transported to Interslavija by Republian authorities. He also took all of the nation's gold reserves when he fled, which amounted to 103.4 metric tonnes in 1998, of which he used multiple tonnes, and today stands at 98.3 tonnes. Republian authorities seized all of it and will be shipping it to Interslavija very soon, which is great news to the Ministry of Finance, because it never bothered to create a new reserve due to lack of political will and monetary means. The Supreme Court has already stated it is legal and constitutional (before the 2021 Constitutional Court creation) to prosecute the King for His actions during His regnancy. In 2003 the V Court of Misdemeanors found Him guilty of one counts of treason, one count of abusing authority vested in the monarchy and two counts of sabotaging the constitutional order of Interslavija, was ordered to return all of the state property unlawfully brought out of the country, stripped of His regnancy (He still remains the King, but no longer King-Regnant), and sentenced to 44 years and 3 months of prison, without the possibility of parole (on appeal brought down to 24, eligible for parole after 15). The Prince-Regent opened the questioning.

HRH Paul: "This is very troubling. One the one hand, it is incredible His Majesty and my disowned brother was finally captured by the hand of the Law, but on the other it opens a Pandora's box of questions. What will be the Constitutional Court's opinion on this, how will we treat him, as a criminal or a royal? We are already in a very precarious position, Mr Ivančin. We need to think very carefully. Support for the monarchy is stable and high, but if this whole thing turns itself into a fiasco, we may be expecting a substantial dip in the future. Has the Foreign Ministry issued the final note of extradition?"

PM Janez Ivančin: "I cannot agree more with Your Royal Highness. Yes, of course the MoFA has issued the final note, a chance like this cannot be passed. We will try our best to use the situation to our advantage. If I may give a suggestion, when the plane carrying His Majesty lands, you should be there, to greet him. To showcase your compassion, if I may. But only a brief and very formal one, no emotion. Your Royal Highness cannot be seen showing affection to His Majesty, let the judicial organs process Him. The gold we are finally retrieving is of great use. We will be able to tie our currency to it, and thusly make it more resilient in these uncertain economic times. There is one glaring issue regarding your brother, His Majesty Alexander."

HRH Paul: "And that is?"

PM Janez Ivančin: "Where will His Majesty be accommodated? In a prison cell? In the Palace? In a hotel? I believe this to be entirely Your Royal Higness' call. However You wish."

HRH Paul: "He should be dealt with as any other extradited criminal. We need to show nobody is above the Law. I hope we agree. Does He have a right to appeal his sentence? He was litigated against in absentia, is there any mechanism to allow Him?"

PM Janez Ivančin: "Well, as far as I am informed, as per the Law on Absentee Litigation, if the individual litigated against has in the meantime willingly or forcefully brought under the jurisdiction of the country shall have the right to a retrial at the last court where the case was confirmed, that being the III Court of Appeals. He may also appeal to the Supreme Court, but it is at their discretion to decide whether they want to hear the case. His Majesty can also launch a constitutional challenge before the Constitutional Court. If He wanted, he could drag this process out for years."

HRH Paul: "That would be very annoying. When He arrives I will try to get Him to just accept it, but knowing His ego I am greatly doubtful. Anyway, we cannot spend the entire audience talking about that disgraceful abomination of a man, we have other important work to do. Last week you informed me about the V Military Oblast's commander-general report. I don't quite remember it. Perhaps a little recapitulation, if you will be so kind."

PM Janez Ivančin: "It would be a pleasure, Your Highness. I have to notify You, as the Commander-in-Chief, of the developments on the ground. Several soldiers of the 11th Company have been injured by the locals, in the East Servia. Perhaps there has been a small rebellion brewing. With your assent, I will instruct the Minister of Defence to assign a unit of the Royal Military Police to investigate closer. Minister is suspecting some kind of a communist organisation...
