Most Serene Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Doge Alexios Komnenos has landed in Beirut to meet with Emperor Charles of the Electorate to formally sign the Treaty of Beirut and bring peace between both nations. Following the signing of the treaty, Lebanon, The Falklands and the South Georgia Islands will be officially ceded to the Electorate. While the loss of territory has been criticized by conservative members of the Signoria, the Doge wishes to remind them that our colonies were a small price to pay in order to avoid a prolonged war that would have led to countless civilian casualties and that this was the only way to avoid such pointless loses of life

With the war finally ending, Cymiopolis will be enacting a new foreign policy. We will be abandoning our practices of funding democratic insurgencies and we will no longer be entering wars as aggressors. The Cymiopolitan Armed Forces will now only be used to as a tool of defense. Concerning our alliances, our policy will be to only assist our allies in defensive wars where their cause is morally just.

-Antonios Kapodistrias,
Minister of Foreign Affairs

Introducing the new Panzer 1 Lion tank armed primarily with one autocannon, two machine guns, and two anti-tank missiles! Each crewman has his own own workstation with a high-definition, LCD touchscreen control panel. A display of a panoramic view of the exterior world is brought to life by five high-definition video screens fed by cameras mounted outside the tank. These show icons indicating vehicle route, possible threats, and more.
Kill the noise and stress of armored warfare and your enemies at the same time from the comfort of a well-armored, soundproof crew compartment.

Soldiers can see threats, waypoints, objectives, and other items of interest superimposed upon the giant screens in an augmented reality-style view. This includes not only items programmed into the mission profile or identified by the crew or vehicle AI, but also info shared by other friendly forces, allowing the crew to defeat hidden enemies and collaborate effectively with the rest of the army.
The tank incorporates pattern recognition and target identification, driving, and self-protection AI. This constantly analyzes the same video feed the human crew sees, scanning for potential threats.

The system can drive the vehicle along a set route if the human crew is involved in doing something else such as manually firing the weapons. If the vehicle comes under enemy fire the AI will launch an active defense system to intercept incoming rockets and missiles. In another possible example of AI weapons release, the turret immediately swivels in the direction of the missile fire and fires a burst.

The level of autonomy in this system is different from any other tank. Both the AI and human onboard can help mitigate threats. The autonomous system is a virtual third crewman and can drastically reduce chances of destruction. The Imperial Panzer Groups of the Electorate are field testing this vehicle right now and report great success.

Buy the Lion now-- buy the tank of the future!

"Do you really think it's worth waiting here for them, Massareno?" Forester asked. "We don't know how long it took for this thing to get here"
Massareno sighs. "You're right, but what if they arrive and we're not here?"
"We could just leave them a message telling them where we are and to contact us using 300GHz frequency."
"One small flaw in your plan, Forester." Massareno gave him that familiar glare. "If Extraterrans land here, they could find us that way."
"I know, that's why we leave them a secret message, one easy enough even for such a primitive race to understand."
He started engraving into the rock with a stone.
"The frequency they used to contact us: 300GHZ
This system's large moon count in order of planets: 00104231
And reverse WEAREHERE in their writing system: DVZIVRVIV"

"300 GHZ 00104231 DVZIVRVIV? You sure they'll know to send that?" Massareno asked.
"Let's hope so"
"Well then, let's get back to the ship"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Months later:

Forester sat on the deck waiting for a response for the 70th day in a row. "Ugh, they could at least have sent a message back saying they are coming. Unless ..." Forester started to worry about where the message they sent really went.
His thoughts were interrupted when the computer went off. He immeadiately turned towards it and checked every possible instrument.
"It's them!" With that he rushed out of the room.

"Massareno! Massareno! They've arrived!" Forester rushed to awake his Captain from where he was resting in his quarters.

"You sure it's them, Forester? We can't risk it being Extraterrans or any of the races they've captured." Massareno said as they both rushed toward the deck.
"Yes! Everything about them matches up with the information on that probe that landed on our planet 100 years ago"

As soon as they entered arrived back on the deck a message arrived.
"This is the USSNS Phlegethon, is anyone receiving this message? Please respond."
"No! That's not what they're supposed to be sending!" Forester yelled and ran towards the controls.
"DVZIVRVIV" Forester typed in quickly.
"Forester" the Captain ordered.
"Repeat last transmission?"
"DVZIVRVIV" Forester typed in again. "If only they would send that message!"
"Forester!!" Massareno yelled, making his co-pilot jump. "Just send them a regular message! Do you want to endanger us and them!"
"But the system ..." Forester began.
"Oh for heaven sake! I'll do it." The Captain rushed over.
"We are across the mountains, our ship can't move. Please send the hithera here. One of us will be there shortly to escort you." Massareno sent.
"But sir," He address his Captain formally. "The system was too weak to send out a full message. It's now unusable."
"Well it got through." He turned to his co-pilot. "Now go escort them and don't mess it up!"
"Yes sir."

As he watch him leave, Massareno himself could not believe what he had just said to his only remaining friend.
"Forester." His friend turned. "I'm sorry. I guess I let old memories come back again."
His friend smiled at that.
"Don't worry, I understand." Forester replied.
"Now go. I have faith in you."

The intercom buzzed. "Calling Dean Gray to the bridge. Gray to the bridge. We need you NOW!"

He sat up from his bed, letting out a huge yawn. Without much hustle, he stood, made some quick coffee, and began to dress. Someone burst into the room – it was his secretary.

"What are you doing. They need you at the bridge!"
"Can't you see that I'm getting my stinking coffee! Give me a minute."
"It's the captain. He's fallen ill."
"Well, I'll fall ill too if you don't let me finish this."

They made their way to the bridge. There, they talked to the flight dynamics officer.

"Demallen can't speak, and he's mostly unconscious – we don't know what happened. We'll send him down to the medical station for further analysis. For now, though, you technically outrank everyone else on the ship.

So, what now... captain?"

Gray looked around the cockpit, examining its systems.

"Do you even know how to fly a ship?" one of the other officers exclaimed.

Gray turned. "I've learned a thing or two over the years. We'll get this operation back on in no time. What's the status of our escort?"

"Not sure. We're still awaiting a signal."

Malacache is not in a regional map, being a puppet. It is most likely near Berland.

I've said this once and I'll say this AGAIN.
Expanding into unclaimed land through RP is not allowed ANYMORE.
It's the third time someone asked me.
If the land belonged to someone else and they're giving it to you, sure.

I know I sound stubborn, but THINK FOR A MINUTE.
If I allow it, unclaimed land will become less and less MUCH more quickly.

I understand the reasoning but not what issue you have with me. I have a puppet which has no land as it is a puppet. Where have I expanded?

Well, you can use Mapcharts if you’d like. It just won’t be official until it’s on the regional map.

The Chamber of Deputies, in cooperation with President Cantù and his cabinet members, has granted Paradí Federal District a fund of $2 billion to construct a new, even more modern university campus in Paradí. Representatives of Paradí F.D. submitted their application to parliament past Wednesday, in which the planned university was given the preliminary name of "Velázquez de Cuéllar University". VCU, as it is officially abbreviated, is planned to become a university specialized in natural sciences and humanities. Furthermore, it is planned to be open for all students from all over the world, and possibly free for students who are a citizen of one of the PAFTA nations.

"This region's mountainous terrain is creating difficulties for our scanners," the FDO reported. "Still no sign of the escort."

"Keep your eyes peeled," Gray responded, "they can't be far off now."

He then moved away from the cockpit, heading to the medical bay. The frigate wasn't too large – everything was within a 5 minute walk at most. Down one flight and to the left, he found the captain in his previous state, unconscious.

"What's his status, Keel?"

"Not much different than before," said Cedric Keel, the chief medical officer onboard. "Vital signs are stable, but he hasn't woken up since the initial incident."

"Did he have any medical history?"

"Not much," Keel noted, "but there was an episode a few months back. Rumor has it he had some psychologically traumatic event, caused by an unknown source. He wandered off in the middle of the night... and wasn't found until days later. New sistonian High Command deemed him fit for duty, but he was barred from ever attaining command of a higher-tier ship.

In my view, I'm not sure why they even assigned him to this mission in the first place."

Gray pondered for a moment.

"I need not speculate on those supposed events. Who knows? We're looking for an 'alien' signal on a slab of icy rock millions of kilometers from home. Anything could've caused this reaction.

But something tells me it wasn't a coincidence."

They heard a stir coming from the bed. Demallen let out a soft, but aching, groan.

"It seems like he's waken," Gray stated, "can you speak Sistonian? I still gotta work on that one."

"Yes sir."

"Then translate for me when he wakes up – I got a couple questions for him."

The Electorate Empire is appalled by the great tragedy which has befallen her friends. The Imperial government has dedicated $15 million to donate to Seigfreid for the rebuilding of the Berlin Cathedral. Christians across the Electorate also are raising funds and prayers in Church to help their fellow brothers in Christ. In total, $220 million (rounded to the millions place) have been put aside for the Cathedral. Military engineers are also cooperating with the private sector to determine what may most help prevent a similar tragedy in the future. Should the culprit prove to be Electoratean or Malacachean, he will be turned over immediately to the Kaiser for justice.

"Um, Captain. The land transport isn't working anymore" Forester said when he returned to the cockpit.
"Well that beats everything" The Captain said. "That must have been where April got the last fuel from after in our rushed escape."
Memories quickly flashed in his mind of how April got captured trying to make it back into the cockpit. Thankfully her last ditch efforts got the Extraterrans off their ship and allowed the two of them to make their escape. Thankfully the Extraterrans haven't mastered photonic speed(the speed needed for mass objects to travel at light speed)

"The only solution I can think of is to walk there. I only hope they have a way to transport the hithera." Forester said, interrupting his thoughts.
"In that case we'll need to inform them it'll take a while for you to get there." Massareno suggested
"That system is busted, remember."
"Right. Sorry about that" Massareno admitted. "Just remember to take a translator with you"
"Right."
After Forester left, Massareno half prayed.
"Deus, please be with us. I know I've rejected you all my life, but I promise to believe again if all goes well."

Later, as he was lying on his bed, he started crying for many reasons.
"Deus, I'm sorry!" He started yelling, half crying. "I'm sorry for how I've been treating Forester! I'm sorry I left April and Katherine behind! It's all my fault! I'm sorry I've been such a horrible person all my life! Please forgive me!"
He fell asleep crying, thinking about everything he's done wrong as a Captain and person.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the ship dissappeared from vision Forester started talking to himself
"I hope all goes well. We absolutely cannot fail."
As time passed, he thought of everything that's happened, including how Massareno has been towards him lately.
Right before he left, it was like he could see right through his friends calm appearance.
He saw someone who was broken and in conflict with himself.
It's not that he's angry at him for constant mistakes, he's just been using him as something to relieve pain.
"Massareno, please be okay in there" he mentally said to his friend. "I know you'll find peace somehow"

Later as he descended down the mountains, he spotted what he was looking for in the radar on his wrist.
"Not far now," he looked forward "Pity I can't see it"
"I hope they brought enough fuel to travel 519 AU at photonic speed, or else we will have to start using their fuel around by planet four or five. And considering how long it took them to get here ... "

As he travelled outside a valley, he saw the ship in the distance.
"Finally!" He gave a sigh of relief, nearly fogging up his helmet.
He activated his translator and radio messenger.
Attention beings of System Sol, I'm Forester, your escort. I'm currently in sight of your ship, please be ready."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As he approached the ship, he took a quick look.
"Impressive for beings like them."
He thought for a moment.
"It looks like it could fit into our ship thankfully. We don't want to be slow."
