Serbia and montengro wrote:Schism in the far right

The National Salvation Front, a movement formed in resistance to Krujec’s regime by Serb intellectuals and writers, has called the Serbian Radical Party false nationalists with their only aim being to get into power and rob the country.

President of the NSF, Mirko Evic, has pointed to Seselj’s previous stints at the Presidency and has completely ruled out any chance of a far right coalition.

“What we represent is an idea started not by shaved headed hooligans, but one of intellectuals spanning centuries who wrote about the idea of Serbhood. We want a national revival and a truly Serbian Serbia. Seselj’s Radical Party wants to sow the seeds of unnecessary hatred and continuous war internally and externally. He is a danger to the whole world, whereas we are a danger to those who will refuse to move out when the time comes”

Serbia and montengro wrote:Rise in hard conservative attitudes and return to tradition

Krujec portraits have been replaced with icons, red flags replaced with the tricolour with a cross, propaganda music replaced with traditional Serbian music, a new Serbia has risen and the PMCNR has achieved its aim of a national cultural revival.

55% of the population has professed their belief as born again Orthodox Christians after more than a year of a ban on religion. With the return of religion and Serbian culture comes also with it the old conservative attitudes that Serbs had before the Serbocommunist regimes of Subotic and Krujec.

Approval of homosexuality, mixed marriages, women’s rights and also of ethnic minorities (particularly after the ethnic riots) have all dropped substantially as many Serbs abandon their loyalties to the communist ideology in favour of a new nationalism that bounds Serbs to their fatherland.

New Romania Is Happy To Hear This.

Serbia and montengro wrote:The Serbian Orthodox Church has recently become an extremely influential institution in Serbian society and is filling the void left by the Communist Party of Serbia and Montenegro (which has been banned by the Provisional Military Council). Thousands of Churches have been rebuilt and the reconstruction for the Saint Sava Temple in Belgrade has begun after it was demolished by Krujec's regime.

Supporters of the Church, who now number in the millions, call for the Church to wield influence over political decisions and should replace the DBSCG as an influential body in S&M.

Read dispatch

The Serbian Progressive Party is now ahead of the Socialist Party by 1% and leads the polls according to the latest RTS opinion poll on the parliamentary election.

The Serbian Radical Party has virtually lost its hype since it experienced a poll boost after fanning the flames of nationalism and Evic's condemnation of the SRS (Srpska Radikalna Stranka in Serbian) has further damaged its standings.

The Party of Democratic Opposition seems to be losing its spot as the main moderate party to the now largely successful semi-nationalist moderate conservative Serbian Progressive Party.

Vucic hails the opinion poll as a victory for conservative populism that his party promotes.

Interesting....

Serbia and montengro and Joshuastania

President Hernandez has immediately started to fulfill one of her campaign promises and has signed an order increasing tariffs on imports of oil, natural gas, and coal to make it much more profitable for American energy and fuel companies to source from within the USA. Oil and gas orporations like ExxonMobil and Enbridge Inc. as well as coal producers such as Peabody Energy and Arch Coal have already begun talks with state and local governments.
Gasoline prices have increased across the nation in response to fears about a shortage during the transition from predominantly foreign sourcing of resources to primarily internal sourcing, in some areas reaching over $3.50 per gallon. Electricity prices are also set to increase tremendously as America's biggest energy sources are coal and natural gas.
Towns primarily powered by clean energy will be less affected, spurring governments to quickly set up green energy projects and making the manufacturing of wind turbines and solar panels has become the fastest growing market in America overnight. States like Wyoming and Alaska have taken to constructing geothermal energy plants to produce electricity, Great Lakes states have come together to plan use of marine current power, and southwest states use open desert land to create vast solar farms.
Whether this was an intended effect of the tariff order is unknown but it will surely change the energy landscape in the USA permanently and drastically.

Backstories: Season 2, "Casandra", Episode 3

Karolina sees a hysterical Cassie, gagged and being dragged through the hallway. She immediately wheels into the study to see what has happened. She is shocked to see Isabella crying on the floor and she rushes over.
"Isabella! What happened!? Hella, we need help!"
Karolina is at a loss about what to do to help Isabella. Should she get out of her wheelchair and possibly injure herself or wait for Hella? She is so shocked at seeing Isabella in this state that she freezes and the room closes in. She doesn't hear Isabella's response or even notice Hella running in and helping Isabella up.
"Queen Isabella! What happened and are you hurt!?"
Isabella shakes her head as Hella helps get her into a chair.
"Something is wrong with Karolina! The baby!"
Hella holds Isabella's head up and looks into her eyes.
"Queen Isabella, you need to snap out of it and answer me!"
She tries shaking Isabella out of it with no results.
"Damn it Isabella! ANSWER ME!"
Isabella is staring into space with tears running down her face and Hella sighs in frustration.
"I hope you can forgive me for this..."
Hella smacks Isabella across the face hard, causing Isabella to scream in pain.
"What the f*ck Hella!?"
Isabella's screams cause Karolina to immediately snap out of it.
"Isabella, Hella, what happened!?"
Hella sees that Isabella is shaking so she holds her and whispers in her ear.
"You're shaking, calm down Queen Isabella... Everything will be ok and you are safe. Tell me what happened."
Isabella nods and lets go of the empty vial of poison which Hella picks up and inspects.
"Gods, did you take this!?"
Isabella shakes her head.
"No, that b*tch Cassie slipped this into my drink and I almost sipped it! If she hadn't knocked the glass out of my hand at the last second..."
Tears run down Isabella's face as Hella tosses the vial to Karolina who immediately feels sick to her stomach.
"Oh God, if Isabella had taken this then it would have killed the baby and possibly her as well!
Karolina heaves at the thought but holds it in.
"What monster would order someone to kill our baby and seriously hurt my wife!? The Tsar, Hilda!?"
Isabella's eyes narrow and she looks Karolina in the eyes with seriousness.
"Her name is Casandra Rockwell so she is probably in league with Hilda! I was an idiot to give her a chance and I should have told you!"
Karolina looks at Isabella with sadness and shakes her head.
"No, it isn't your fault Isabella! It was her's and we should send her back to Hilda in tiny little pieces and make her beg for forgiveness!"
Hella glares at Karolina and shakes her head.
"You aren't helping her Karolina!"
Karolina can see that her comments are upsetting Isabella.
"You're right Hella! I'm sorry Isabella... If it was Hilda then there will be more coming and Rosa could be in danger as well! Hella, lock the entire building down at once! Nobody in or out!"
Hella nods and goes to leave when she sees Isabella, flushed and about to pass out after the comment about Rosa.
"No, you do it Duchess! I need to get her upstairs immediately!"
Karolina nods and wheels out, leaving Hella to help take Isabella to her room.

...

Hella holds Isabella and takes her towards the stairs. As they round the corner, Isabella goes limp and falls to the floor.
"Hot. Can't breathe."
Hella shakes her head and picks up Isabella who is moments from passing out.
"Oh no you don't! Otto, it's Queen Isabella and I need some help please!"
Hella sees Isabella's eyes start to roll back so she rouses her.
"Hey, don't pass out Isabella, we're almost there..."
Otto runs out of a nearby room, followed by Rosa. He sees Hella carrying Isabella and he is concerned.
"What's wrong, is she in labor?"
Hella shakes her head and pulls the hair out of Isabella's face.
"No, Cassie did this!"
Otto's face fills with rage as Hella continues.
"Help me get Isabella to her room and Rosa should fetch Galina!"
Rosa nods and wheels off to find Galina. Hella and Otto take Isabella up to her room and Otto is pissed.
"I knew that b*tch was trouble when I first saw her!"
Hella places Isabella in bed and then turns towards Otto.
"Leave us Otto..."
He nods and leaves the room. Once Galina arrives, Isabella is down to her underskirts and Hella is washing her face with a cool rag.
"Hella and Isabella, what happened?"
Hella sighs and looks at Galina.
"Isabella's new employee tried to poison her with that..."
She points to the empty vial of poison and Galina inspects it.
"Oh no, I recognize this! It is one of Tsar Dmitri's preferred poisons and it must have been in Isabella's tea?"
Hella and Isabella both nod.
"It was in my tea but it wasn't the Tsar who ordered it. That girl is named Casandra Rockwell so obviously Hilda ordered it but tried to cover her tracks."
Galina nods in agreement.
"That makes sense your majesty. Are you planning on making her talk?"
Isabella looks at the empty vial of and a dark smile comes across her face.
"She tried murdering my Christer so the gloves are off now!"
Galina nods and puts the empty poison vial aside.
"Understand Mrs. intelligence officer!"
She winks and goes to leave but stops and turns facing Isabella.
"Remember that you are a Queen, wife and mother first, so don't get too deep into it down there and don't lose yourself..."
Isabella nods and Galina leaves. Isabella's face goes from smiling to serious in an instant and she looks Hella in the eyes.
"You are a nurse and a doctor so I expect that you can refill that stuff?"
Hella looks at Isabella in shock.
"No, I won't!"
Isabella sits up and rolls her eyes, letting out a sigh.
"I'm not that evil! You will order the antidote as well!"
Hella nods and stands up.
"Fine!"
Hella leaves the room and Isabella gets herself dressed. Hella is now furious at Karolina because of her earlier comments.

...

Karolina is almost to Isabella's bedroom when she bumps into Hella.
"Oh, how is my wife?"
Hella looks down at Karolina and shakes her head.
"She is doing much better after you nearly caused her to pass out!"
Karolina nods.
"Yeah, sorry about that..."
Hella cuts her off.
"Do you realize what your comments about sending sending Cassie back to Hilda in little pieces and to have her beg for forgiveness did?"
Hella tosses the empty vial of poison to Karolina and is about to say something when Isabella comes out of her room, wearing a cool and simple dress.
"Hello you two!"
Karolina is surprised by Isabella's outfit and stares at her.
"You look..."
Isabella smiles at her.
"It gets hot down in that basement and I needed a simple dress to ruin once I get covered in blood, and vomit and things. It's going to get really messy once Hella refils the poison and sends it down!"
Isabella gives Karolina a kiss and then disappears. Hella then glares at Karolina and shakes her head.
"See what I mean?"
Karolina nods.
"Oh..."
Karolina goes to leave but Hella stops her.
"We aren't done yet!"
Hella grabs Karolina's wheelchair and pushes her into an empty room and locks the door.
"She needed comforting and reassurance but you instead pushed her over the edge! She needs to see a therapist instead of torturing that poor girl. Isabella is pregnant and this is going to physical strain her. She plans on giving that poison to Cassie and then giving her the antidote after. There is no antidote that won't permanently disable that girl!"
Karolina begins to tear up and Hella starts to walk out of the room but stops and turns around.
"I will not refill that substance but I know where you can get it from... As for the antidote itself, I can write a prescription for it but that is as much as I assist you with. Looks like you face a decision Duchess Karolina!"
Hella leaves the room and Karolina sits there staring at the empty vial of poison.
