Holding up okay, though my family and I just moved to London, UK, in February. What a smart time to do that....

Im in Maryland, we have been ahead of the curve in the US on most closures. Our schools have been closed for a week now and likely will through next fall. All bars, restaurants and movie theaters have been shut except for delivery and curbside pickup/drive-through. Government buildings are closed. All non essential businesses have been asked to close unless telecommute is possible. Per dens point, our stores have all capped how much of any one item you can buy, but its still too late after the initial rush. These are all good measures Den. The thing is roughly as transmissible as flu and to the general population its proving to be roughly 20x as deadly. Its best to take a month or two and limit how many people are in any given place for leisure activities or non-essential work if only to keep the hospitals from being overwhelmed.

As for me, im still going into the office, though we have capped at 10 total employees in the building. Im rationing toilet paper as I was already low before the panic and we wont make it into next week on current supply. Ive got 2 weeks of food in the house but I doubt ill need it. The stores have everything but milk, eggs and toilet paper. I dont drink milk, im not planning on baking and if worse comes to worse I have a garden hose.

Bet you're glad you no longer live in a country with a complete buffoon in charge....erm.... 😬

That said, I'm currently panicking and trying to get through all the coursework in the next two days, when I should've had at least three weeks left.

Coronavirus is a nasty dose, but we can't shut down life because of it. Closing schools for potentially 5 months strikes me a gross overreaction.

Think of the cascade effect for people working etc. If they can't work it may get to the point that we can't buy things because all the stores are closed, what do we do then?

We cook and eat those supposed $1K checks that Trump is supposed to be sending out to stimulate the economy. :P

My understanding is that they're trying to avoid the massive rush to the hospital of everyone getting sick at once. There's already a shortage of beds and facilities, testing kits, not to mention healthy staff to treat them. Even though it's only deadly for a portion of the population, there's going to be tons of folks who require hospitalization, and they're on top of the regular influx of those in need of treatment.

So if you can allow the medical community a chance to catch their breath and build up stocks, keeping the number of severe cases coming in to a manageable trickle, then there will be far less deaths. I've heard from doctor-types that this could save hundreds of thousands of lives.

Regarding effects to businesses and people out of work, this is where all of the government support comes in. Things like no interest loans to small business owners, easy unemployment payments, etc. I know a certain segment of the population thinks big government is evil incarnate, but I find it far more palatable than 500,000 more dead.

Hmm what's interesting on the news...pandemic, doomsday...eh. Ooh sports! Oh wait, there's no more sports.

I've got this great new sport:

*tosses one of those red schoolyard rubber balls*

Alright, now you've got the rock. You have to place your forehead against this whiffleball bat and spin around ten times. Then, see those wickets lined up? You're going to need to wind your way through them without knocking any over. Now, there's a bucket nailed to a tree at the end, and you're going to try to shoot your ball in while standing on one leg, hopping in circles, and singing an old Jimmy Durante song at the top of your lungs.

Meanwhile, I've got all of these nerf guns, and I'm trying to knock you off track. However, I'm wearing a blindfold, so it's a bit tricky. And if you end up making your shot, I can steal your point by balancing this bucket of pond water on my head while reciting Henry V's "Saint Crispin's Day Speech" without spilling.

That's just Act I of the first trimester. You'll get a hang of it as we go. I call it Pantherball (any similarities to "Calvinball" are purely coincidental)

Ah well. No issues 🙂. Different people have different views. I find his songs to be quite meaningful.

Don't hold your breath, you don't look good in purple.

I was thinking more of a turquoise Nehru jacket with some fuchsia brothel creepers. 🌈 😮

You should teach the kids how to write limericks and haiku. Now, I've worked with children a lot, and never once have I tried this. But if you decide to try and it works, let me know, because it could be a game changer with all of the time it could kill.

Oh, my.

Do 20% less work, that’ll show ‘em! Our communist junta is covering 80% of wages up to £2.5k per month. Isn’t socialism just darling? ☭
