Thanks for all the support guys!

Power has been on for a while, so I’m hoping it won’t shut off again, or at the least the worse part is over with.

On the bright side, it’s the first time it’s snowed here in 8 years. That was fun, even though it was as cold outside as it was inside. Texans have no idea what to do in the cold, and it appears the energy companies don’t have a clue either.

I’ve also played every board game in my house twice over, so I hope I never have to play those again. I’ve also done a few puzzles, and even been desperate enough to begin reading a book. I’m bored out of my mind and can’t wait to get back to the internet.

Best wishes, and here’s to my power staying on.

Oh, look at the new pioneer, who left behind our modern world, with its new-fangled electricity and heating and internets, come crawling back to its comforts. Just couldn't leave behind our powered hair dryers and indoor plumbing and not freezing to death in the winter, eh? Where oh where has our once-proud "pioneer spirit" gone?

*loads up 4 Cargo ships, 2 aircraft carriers that will load up the most vital supplies into airplanes to airdrop it in to high risk, inland areas or areas without a port large enough to accommodate the cargo ships with humanitarian supplies. After hours of loading and fueling the 2 cargo ships and 2 aircraft carriers with their respective battle groups depart from the city of Gibraltar to the Sahcaran territory of the Phoenix islands (Azores) from their the 2 cargo ships and 2 aircraft carriers in their respective battle groups will split up into 2 fleets that each have 1 aircraft carrier with their battle group and one cargo ship. One fleet will travel to Washington DC and move north to help the entire north east. The second group will travel to Norfolk Virginia and travel south to Houston helping the entire south east and the Deep South. They arrive in their respective destinations and help their respective areas*

Forget the rest of the areas. Just send them to Philadelphia with some shovels and salt, I could really use some help with my stoop and sidewalk. We're getting buried and snow and ice, at the moment.

Densaner you aren’t totally wrong. Where I live in Bethesda isn’t snowing it’s windy and cloudy right now and it’s a chilling 30 degrees farahenhiet (-1 degrees Celsius) but it feels like 21 degrees farahenhiet (-6 degrees Celsius) ❄️. Believe me Densaner I and most Americans want to but the boomers are in charge of the government for right now so that isn’t going to happen anytime soon.

Also me and most Americans know how to use liters, centimeters, and the rest of length measurements of the metric system although I will admit the meter, Celsius and kilometer are confusing for us especially Celsius which tbh I don’t really understand since Celsius has a much more easier concept boiling water being 100 and freezing water is 0.

A pica's the base standard,
It's how we measure letters,
In a pica there are twelve points,
Six picas to an inch,
Twelve inches to a foot,
And three feet to a yard,
And in a mile there be feet a many,
Five thousand two hundred eighty,
Or one thousand seven hundred sixty yards,
furthermore there be furlongs,
Of which eight fit in a mile,
That's the American way,
How to measure length in the U S A.

The unified missourtama states I am also proficient in the customary system we use in the USA so I can use both the metric and customary system although I will admit I am better at the customary system since I worked in construction before the pandemic and in the USA wood is measured in the customary system just like most things in the US.

What is wrong with knowing how use some of the metric system I mean I’m much better in the customary system. I had to use the metric system because in science class for public middle and high school we were taught the metric system and forced to use it and I traveled quite a bit to other countries so I had to use the metric system since that is what they used

In defense of Fahrenheit in particular, it's very easy to understand the degree - 0° is damn cold, and 100° is damn hot. As opposed to Celsius, where 0° is pretty cold, 100° is almost hot as hell, and hotter than human weather has any right to be, and the Fahrenheit damn hot is only 38°. Admittedly, once you get outside the range of human weather, they both produce numbers that are hard to grasp. But I really think Fahrenheit is superior for everyday temperature measurement.

The Voice of ARB I agree Farahenhiet is just so much easier to grasp and you made an amazing point when saying that Farahenhiet’s numbers for being 0 is very cold and 100 is pretty hot but still something humans can survive to get to temperatures that no human can survive for farahenhiet are numbers that are pretty huge

Chicago has had well over 40 inches of snow in the past two weeks with is snowing 11 day out of that time. Street parking is a joke.

It hasn't been over 20°F here in weeks. It's supposed to be around 30 this weekend.

Densaner wrote:Damn Californians! What is with you lot and Fahrenheit, anyway? Y’all need to get with the program.

We could also be talking about the Kelvin and Rankin temperature scales if you like. Are you conversant in either?

Speaking of Pica...Pica and Elite refer to how many characters per inch a typewriter types. It had nothing to do with the style or “font”. Elite is 12 characters per inch and Pica is 10. So Elite is smaller letters spaced closer and you fit more words per line.
