On God, I really want to see everyone embrace the Grimdark nature of Valsora. It's like Maneiras says, utopian democracy is boring. We like to write strife and war because it's interesting. Democracies fall apart all the time to despots, racists, and supernatural threats.

Valsora's worse than most grimdark settings because there are more peeks of light. Every now and then a nation improves, some peace is attained, and a villain's slain. But these never last for long. I can't help but think a lot of our ideas are largely discredited on Valsora. Authoritarianism and theocratic measures have got to be far more popular for the appeal of security from mortal and immortal threats.

So valsora is space nazis, space stalins, space khomeinis, and space genghis.

Yeah, aliens should nuke valsora.

Well, sure, but some of the grimdarkness is distributed because entire countries are more evil than their neighbors. The Counictva is a soldierless 'temporary organizational entity' surrounded by militant statists. As such, the threat of invasion enough generates its villains, so not too much evil is needed within my country.

I very much agree. Yet not everyone should jusy drop being a democracy. If everyone becomes "special" then there is nothing special about being "special"

I still haven't had my morning coffee

I feel like im going to snap into random violence

I get ya and that's not what I mean. I'd just find it really cool if more characters expressed a certain level of meta awareness about how fvcked the world is.

I mean... is it? Relatively speaking, our world is pretty messed up too, with plenty of genocide and horrifying dictatorships.

I think the supernatural plays a part. Valsora's loaded with this kind of stuff and it's known to exist for fact. Hell, this ain't even the peak of it. Back in the day we had characters like Marianne who were immortal despots.
