The Cospanian opposition party (of mostly Catholic persuasion) has introduced a Bill condemning recent anti Catholic violence in Lyoa, furthermore, the Cardinal of the Cospanian diocese has called for the violence to end and is putting out public support for the bill, not uncommon anymore considering this position has become increasingly politicized over the past several years. The bill is likely to pass, but not without any grandstanding by the majority, who are still resentful of the Cospanian Catholic minority.

In other news, Nicola Riccardi, the only member of the Directory of the Progressive Conservative Party, and the only member not of the main two Cospanian political parties, will be unable to run for re-election due to term limits. Election for his seat is coming up soon, and it is highly unlikely the PCP will win another seat at this time. Both the Progress for Cospania party and the Cospanian Liberty party have held primaries, the CLP recently nominating Emilio Draghi as their candidate. The PFC will nominate a candidate soon. Not having had a government majority since the 1990s, the PFC will need an electoral victory for this seat, otherwise, they risk the breakdown of the present political party system in Cospania altogether

Mitende-Kazima Border
The Islamic Army of Lyoa attacked two Lyoan Protestant villages along the border of Mitende and Kazima provinces. The assailants killed 17 civilians with firearms and bladed weapons. Three children were also abducted in the attacks. Jihadist assailants set fire to the villages as well.

Northern Mitende
The Islamic Army of Lyoa attacked a Catholic village in Northern Mitende province. Twelve civilians were killed in the attack and 4 civilians were abducted. Attackers set fire to several houses and looted the settlement.

Kalwezi
The Mai-Mai Nkutu abducted an ICCN worker in Mambasa National Wildlife Reserve. The militants proceeded to torture the worker before beheading him. Authorities believe the attack was intended to deter ICCN operations to shut down Mai-Mai Nkutu elephant poaching operations.

Eastern Mitende
The National Revolutionary Council of Akombeland ambushed the LNDF along a roadway in the east of Mitende province. The LNDF fought off the attackers, suffering only one death. The NRCA rebels lost two fighters in the clashes.
