I have ejected and banned Cloedal and Happynation1. This is simply ridiculous and childish behaviour; get a hobby that doesn't involve taking time out of other people's day. Multiple members of the region have and will be submitting Getting Help Requests to the site mods for this rule breaking behaviour.
Comrade The Final Horseman has been confirmed as Backup Region Founder with 49 votes in favour (two of which were casted via the RMB), 2 votes against, and 6 abstentions. I will begin the transfer process when Horsey gets online.
Update: As of 9:12 AM, Central Standard Time today, Horsey now has the account!

The more attention we give the spammer, the more they will continue. On top of banjecting any puppets of theirs, pay them no mind.
They clearly came across as someone who barely just found out ideologies exist. They weren't here for meaningful discussion to begin with.
Hello everyone. I would like to say I am switching my main nation to New Flamington. I will keep this nation alive, just giving a heads up.
おはよう(you Australian btw)
Nyan. I hope you are all feeling well, and discover new things to learn and improve when you are rested. Remember that you are important and that we all care about you! Stay safe and hydrated, companions.
General Assembly Announcement: Dual Citizenship Minor Amendment (Holding Offices) has now moved to vote within the General Assembly. All discussion by the public has been noted and will be taken into account by Members of the General Assembly while voting; results will be returned in a maximum of 48 hours.
Unity in Diversity!
Hello, I was unfortunately absent during the last week, can someone tell me what I missed in the region?
The February 2021 Census results are here!
You can check them out using this link: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1cWA7nn7e0nfCyMHAmz1euYQFd5VDeZ3zcDgjxo596fs/edit?usp=sharing
Here's a summary of the most important changes:
• A 9.3% increase in female and non-binary/genderfluid people, which together now represent 30% of the region.
• LBGT+ people now make up a majority of the region, with heterosexual people now making up 47.5%.
• A 7.8% decrease in people from the US, which now make up 40.3% of the region.
• A 11.6% decrease in people that support a political party with a subsequent 14.3% increase in people not supporting a party, but planning to.
• A 10.3% increase in people studying/working in computer science/technology.
• As usual, a big shift in political ideologies, with a 10.7% decrease in democratic socialism (which is now less than half the people at 48.1% total), a 8.4% increase in syndicalism, a 8.1% decrease in social democracy, and anarchism falling to third place with Marxism-Leninism taking it's place as the second most common ideology due to very small changes in both.
• An all around decrease of interest in involvement in the region, except for posting in the RMB which increased by 4.7%.
• General Assembly performance fell slightly from 4.22/5 to 4.17/5.
• Cabinet performance rose slightly from 4.23/5 to 4.29/5.
• Community growth fell considerably from 4.21/5 to 3.89/5, with less 5-star ratings and more 3-star ones.
Thank you all so much for participating!
And a special thank you to Llorens for literally making the census form for me, couldn't have done it without him :)
Minister of Information Argentigrad.
State of Assembly
In line with the tradition of the region it is my pleasure to deliver the State of Assembly adress. We had an eventful term, with three resignation. I would also like to thank Argentigrad, Podria, Kavagrad and Antinios for immediately offering their help during this difficult time.
But there we also some positive things during this term, we opened two new emabassies. With Wintercrest and Libertarian Socialist Confederation. We also now have two new and young Assemblians picking up Positions as Ambassadors. I would also like to thank New Samon and Grod Island for being great Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
At the begining of the term we had some issues with running the Recruitment API, which we thankfully catched relatively early, after we catched the error and moved the API onto another device it worked as intended. We also created a small script to restart the API should it stop due to an error. In regards to Population, we dropped by 65 nations and 36 WA nations since the beginning of the term. The reasons behind this drop are not entirely clear a possible factor in it could have been, issues with the Recruitment API at the beginning of the term, the so called "Great Departure", a slight drop in overall WA population in this time and the drop in quality and overall RMB activity.
I would also like to thank Podria for taking over the position of Community Affairs, after the resignation of Wascotian. At the beginning of the term we used a Google Form to find out who is interested in Game Nights, which games do interest them and if they were part of the social discord. As some of you might remeber I wanted to include non-discord nations more into the Community via game nights, but due to only one nation who was not part of the discord taking part in the poll which left the region before the poll was concluded we scraped the idea for time being.
Wascotian and I worked on concepts to improve the Ministry of Community Affairs since we didn't get a chance to implement those and after the depature I wanted to keep it smooth-running and not take any risk I will present these concepts here. We did consider implementing a music night with UM on the discord, similar to what happend on Nottinhamps depature. The other Community activies we considered was to create a TLA Pen&Paper group and to have a paradox multiplayer game night.
Argentigrad was a great help at the beginning of this term. When I came into office I lacked expirience in the executive and Argentigrad did their best to support me with the knowledge they gained as former Secretary.
After the resignation of Vandensia, Argentigrad offered their help and to step up to the position and I would like to thank them to offer their help during this trying times.
With the Census being released a couple of hours ago I would like to thank Llorens for helping Argentigrad out with the census by creating the form.
The most important changes already have been named by the Minister of Information therefore I will link the post here once again: page=rmb/postid=42969322
Now to dive into the ideas for improvement, I agree that we should get younger nations involved with regional government and the best way to do it in my opinion is encouraging them to run for the General Assembly(Our Legislative). If you are a younger nation interested in getting involved with regional politics/government consider running for a seat in the General Assembly. Election Season starts on the 1st of March!
I also tried to get younger nations (younger than 1 year) into other positions, at the beginning of the term half of the executive and over half of the Supreme Court consisted of nations that resided in the region for less than a year.
Now regarding the ideas for Community Affairs, I wouldn't mind game nights with less casual games, but I see an issue there with participation. Even with our casual games we usually had 6-8 participants and I fear that we would lack enough participants if we picked less casual games. Granted if we would plan these in advance more people might participate and depending on the game it could still have high interest. If you have game recommendations feel free to present them to the Minister of Community Affairs.
While I understand the sentiment to be more lenient on new members about RMB etiquette, we did that to a certain point which resulted in them feeling encouraged and continuing or increasing the amount of messages which felt spammy, them ignoring the warnings they received later, them getting banjected and then continuing with puppets. I agree that we as a community may have neglected the RMB too much by now, but also I am unsure how big the interest of non-discord Assemblians is in the region. Like I mentioned earlier we had a poll form for game nights for every Assemblian but nearly no-one who wasn't part of the discord participating. For regional activities/competitions I admit we should have maybe tried more, but to be blatantly honest only receiving one entry on the Assembly Day writing competition was massively discouraging.
I would like to thank everyone in TLA for making my term as Secretary a pleasant memory. I look forward to the bright future of our Assembly!

FRS March 2021 Election Broad-Poll Results
Feral Rat Stats have just completed our recurring pre-election Secretary Broad-Poll, this time for the March 2021 Elections. These are the results.
QUESTION: Which of these potential candidates for Secretary would you be most likely to vote for in the March 2021 Election?
Don't Know/Unsure: 18%
*Denotes a selection via the "Other" option.
1) The sample size was 33, and the margin of error was 15.88%.
2) The 5 listed nations in this poll were selected because they had all served in a governmental role in both of the last 2 terms. 1 other nation (Podria) previously expressed a desire to not be included as a listed option in this Broad-Poll.
3) 1 vote was discarded because it was cast for a nation that is not an Electoral Citizen (and is also one of my joke puppet nations).
This result will likely be seen as a total vindication of Secretary Dyl's work in this term, with the Secretary recording the best result in Broad-Poll history, breaking the record of 50% set by myself in September 2020, as well as the best Broad-Poll result for an incumbent Secretary (previously Llorens' 37% in March 2020). The 40% gap between the Secretary and his closest challenger in this poll is also a record. Based on these results, one could expect a fairly easy election campaign for the Secretary if he chooses to run for a second term.
Antinios, on 12%, continues to hold a not-insignificant portion of support despite not publicly indicating an intention to run for Secretary, up by 1% since December. All of the other listed options are down by 2-5% from the December Broad-Poll.
Another interesting note is the use of the "Other" option, which has never been used prior to this election, and was selected 3 times in this outing (4 if one includes the discarded vote). This makes my idea for a Write-In-Only Poll, which I mentioned as being under consideration in my December Broad-Poll analysis, far more likely to happen in future, and I may test this concept alongside the Broad-Poll in June.
What do you mean by "one discarded vote"? If the response was discarded, why was it included in the final numbers of your poll? And why was it discarded in the first place?
Also, I think there are fairly serious problems with a write-in only poll. What you are asking people to do is to imagine a hypothetical where every possible nation is running, which is not a helpful reflection of the upcoming election. There might be historically popular Secretaries that are firmly retired (me? 😎) who would receive votes by virtue of their previous successes, but that information is not useful as a prediction of a viable Secretary race. I for one would be likely to vote for Cedoria or TFH over practically any alternative but I think its strongly unlikely that either would ever run for that particular office again.
At least with the current structure of the Broad-Poll it keeps the hypotheticals within reasonability, since each of the included nations are quite possible candidates. That being said, I think the inclusion of the "Other" option undermines the reliability of those stats.
State of the Legislature
Comrades and Assemblians,
What a term we've had. For the first time ever; we had a General Assembly in which every member was not incumbent. The legislature saw new faces and old faces, and a change in faces. Thank you to comrades Vandensia and Greylyn for their service, even if it was truncated and they've moved on to other regions. Their time in the General Assembly was treasured and their service invaluable. I would also like to move on to comrades Talao and Soviet Catgirls for stepping up in the eleventh hour and taking on the vacant position in the GA.
The 20th General Assembly ran fast and hard, passing 10 serious pieces of legislation, including landmark legislation formally establishing gameside powers of regional officers, creating a backup region in the event that the primary region is compromised, and clarification and updating to Dual and Military Citizenship. We also continued the tradition of running non-serious legislation or Joke Laws when the serious legislation runs dry.
As one of my promises as Speaker, I pledged to take a new MGA under my wing and train them in as Deputy Speaker in hopes that they will carry the torch onwards. I would like to thank my first Deputy Speaker, Vandensia, for their service to the legislature and to the region despite the circumstances of their departure. After Van's departure, a successor to him was clear, and I would like to thank HELP ME TAKE OVER THE WORLD PLEASE/New Flamington for stepping up to the post of Deputy Speaker - your future in the region is bright.
Of course, I cannot write a State of the Legislature without thanking each and every Member of the General Assembly:
- Asturies-Llion - I appreciate your care and attention in your deliberations as MGA, ensuring that your votes are as well informed as possible and that the legislation is as clear and effective as possible.
Greylyn - I appreciated the energy you brought to the General Assembly, ensuring there was never a dull moment and that we always had something to do, even if what we were doing wasn't exactly serious.
Grod Island - I appreciate your experience and clarity in legislation, you were a true asset to the General Assembly
New Flamington - I appreciate your adaptability; how quickly you moved from being in your first governmental post and first few months in the region to one of our most vocal and active MGAs to our new Deputy Speaker, introducing legislation and facilitating discussion like you've done it your entire life.
Kongoland - I appreciate your perspective and way of expressing your thoughts - it was always a treat to read your vote explanations.
Vandensia - I appreciated your vocality and humour, as well as your service as Deputy Speaker.
Talao - I appreciate your tenacity and willingness to step up when the region needed it most.
Soviet Catgirls - I appreciate the fact that you challenged the GA; you came in an outsider and newcomer but were not afraid to debate, and when you debated you were passionate and well informed.
Of course, the parade of thank you's would not be complete without thanking the most important part of the region, you. I cannot thank enough the Assemblians of our region; for electing us, for supporting us, for voicing your opinions, for writing legislation, for giving us a region to legislate for, for everything. The Leftist Assembly has become a home for so many of us, myself included, and the home is not tied to a nation simulation game made by some Australian author, it's about the people - you the Assemblians. I cannot express in words how thankful I am to have this region, this community to serve.
I'd like to thank Dyl for serving as our fearless leader - making great strides in our foreign relations; fostering a safe, fun, happy, and healthy region; and rolling with the punches and adapting to the changing situations we have. Our founders: Llorens, Kavagrad, and Cedoria, for the service they do for the region - seen and unseen. Previous Speaker, Antinios for running a strong and active General Assembly and allowing us to carry on that torch.
Finally, I would like to mention the upcoming elections. The election season starts in just a few hours, March 1st, and the more people that run the merrier. The General Assembly is a fantastic place for new nations to get their start in government - it's a low commitment and generally, quite an easy job that requires you to just check Discord once or twice a day, read some legislation, voice opinions you may have, and vote on the legislation. If you have any questions at all, you can feel free to contact me via NS Telegram or Discord DM, or really any governmental officer - all of us would be glad to help. I cannot stress enough how important and valuable it is for our region to continue to see new faces in government.
In short; I'd like to thank all of the MGAs and each and every one of you Assemblians - to serve as your Speaker has been an honour and privilege, thank you.
Unity in Diversity!
Speaker of the 20th General Assembly
