The naval task force that had intended to invade Beleghata had been re-routed towards the Fusean nation primarily because a response failed to reach Guyomartand. High Command had been irritated by the unfortunate circumstances they were in, but a new target was quickly chosen. The German-Russian Empire was chosen. It was deemed close enough to the original invasion target and isolated enough in global politics to not cause a coalition against the Empire itself.
The first combat patrols from the aircraft carriers were sent out. Their primary goals were reconnaissance and preventing any pre-emptive strikes if they decided to retaliate against the Imperial Fleet. The first bombers were being prepared for the bombardment of enemy fortifications and positions. The Fleet was preparing to enact a blockade against their ports to strangle their supply of goods, aid and any potential weaponry sent their way. The transports carrying soldiers were preparing to enter the landing vessels to begin the actual invasion while the fleet provided fire support. Although the weather wasn't ideal for an invasion, the land forces needed to arrive on the beach as quickly as possible while they hadn't been detected.
However, before the invasion could begin. An ultimatum was issued towards the German-Russian government from the flagship of the Imperial Fleet, the HHS Sanctus Victoria.
The Ultimatum of the Sanctus Victoria:
First Demand: The German-Russian Empire will concede the territory demanded by the Imperial Government. The GRE will not try to influence groups which wish to rejoin their homeland. The GRE will also recognise the Holy Empire's territory as Guyomartandian.
Second Demand: The GRE will also accept any refugees coming from the new territory if they wish to move.
Third Demand: The GRE will also pay for any damage caused to the territory if anarchy breaks out due to government support before it is annexed by the Holy Empire.
Fourth Demand: The GRE will allow Guyomartandian companies to freely operate inside their nation.
We are being merciful towards your people and country. Failure to comply with these demands will result in a declaration of war upon the GRE and we will cease our mercy upon you.
