Volaworand announced on Wednesday that he is forming an exploratory committee to consider a Local Council bid.
"I'm going to run for Local Council of The South Pacific," the Canadian Penguin, 44, said on VBC's "TSSS Fox and Friends."
In a clip of his taped interview released online ahead of the show's broadcast Wednesday evening, Volaworand said he is forming a exploratory committee "tonight," garnering big cheers from the audience.
"As a your LC penguin, I’m going to fight for other people’s kids as hard as I’m going to fight for my own, which is why I believe that meaningful work should be a right and not a privilege. It's why I believe we should have better working conditions for all our kids, because it shouldn’t matter what feeder block you grow up on," she said. Supporters waved pro-child labour placards reading "Real work. Real wages."
Volaworand, a longtime target of women who has been vocal in the #MeToo movement, also vowed to take on "institutionalized patriarchy," "corruption and greed in TSP," and the "special interests that write legislation in the dead of the offsite forums."
"I know I have the compassion, the courage, the blinding rage and the autocratic determination to get the job done," he said, "Anyone who stands against me will sleep with the fishes."
Filing paperwork with the Election Commission for an exploratory committee will allow the penguin to raise and spend money like a LC candidate, before officially entering the race. Candidates are supposed to take this step within 15 days of raising or spending more than $5,000 on a potential bid. Volaworand has been hiring campaign staffers, renting out a campaign headquarters, collecting dirt on opponents and is planning a trip to Knowhere this weekend.
He promptly tweeted out a new campaign website, which solicits email addresses, bribes, donations and resumes for potential staffers.
Volaworand's campaign will focus on him as an advocate for the disadvantaged and downtrodden, a leader on death hugs in debates, and a fierce opponent of the lower case t rebels, a campaign official told VBC News on Tuesday. In particular, voters can expect to hear about the penguin's efforts to reform and expand the handling of suppression in the RMB, a proposal to protect endangered drama llama's, and his efforts to encourage silliness and pointless drama in TSP politics.
