I mean, even trying them under your law is a bit far. San Javier may be making money off your nation's chaos is concerning, but at this point they are a nation with rights.

If a crime is committed in Menna Shuli it is under their jurisdiction. I don't see why we would question the fact that they should be tried under Mennan law. An execution would create a bit of a ruckus.

Cuz mennan law is probably overly harsh and probably without fair representation or due process.

This particular kinda drug is linked to the doomsday cults in Ainslie, so I’m using it to link the cults and the rapid rise of the independent nationalists party. Since they’re not in government yet, I’ll have them go after that party

Thuzbekistan wrote:Cuz mennan law is probably overly harsh and probably without fair representation or due process.

But it is not illegal. In fact it is the international norm. It would not be prudent to do anything until the situation actually results in extreme punishments.

I guess. I'm trying to find a good place to stand icly. Our punishments are harsh, but at least you get a fair trial.....kinda

Indeed. Such claims are rather subjective, and only really worth pursuing if there is a really good reason to do so. A few people from a semi-legitimate drug running terrorist ridden sh!thole state breaking a legitimate law and attacking officers of the peace is not exactly the best of situations to defend.

Wellsia and Thuzbekistan

Forestry products now, moved the pelts from Agricultural to here, since the animals are found in the woods. Now only mining and industry left then I can combine them all in a Factbook.

That said I would expect the government of San Javier to put up a fight over it, because they do have a good enough reason to defend them. The rest of us don't. It is kind of like the situation I had going with Covonent before he departed. Miklanian national caught with a group of drug smugglers. Guilty as hell. We were fine with that. He was going to get the death penalty. We were not fine with that. We requested he be extradited for incarceration in Miklania, after it was made clear that his sentence would not be reduced. The Covonentian government, but not their judicial system, said no. For various political reasons inside Covonent, the issue was blown way out of proportion and was on it's way to starting IW3. If MS is going to find them guilty, so be it. It would only be an issue for anyone if they decide to execute. And in that case, it would be much more difficult to argue, as in my case the man was caught smuggling drugs, hardly what a rational system would consider a capital offense. In the Mennan case, execution would only be the punishment if one of the injured officers were to die from his wounds. Killing someone in the commission of a crime is something that rational legal systems could consider a capital offense.

Cricket in Cosie

by Vinceton Rolle
Last Updated: 9 August 2019

Intro

Cricket in Cosie has seen better days. You might be surprised to learn that we still consider it The Layman Island's second most popular sport1, given the shoddy support from our local governing body, the Cosian Cricket Board (CCB).

Cricket has long been a cultural staple among Cosie's windie community, who brought the sport with them from the Caribbean around the 1900s. Their efforts to build up cricket lead to the formation of the CCB, who themselves formed our national men's team, the Guanas. Back then, our boys could hold their own against established cricketing nations even before British Independence; all that went downhill once the 'Isles Ban' of 1969 came into effect. The CCB tried to make up for the Ban's restrictions by organising heaps of domestic competitions, but for decades, the national team have been worlds away from being able to challenge the rest of the world.

Don't take our slump for granted, however: since Cosie reconciled with the rest of the Isles, the Guanas have been given access to a whole new group of rivals, all willing to test our boys' mettle right up north. While our results against them have been unsurprisingly poor, there's some cautious optimism among fans who believe the CCB might actually use this experience to improve the state of Cosian cricket. No one knows if that plan will come to fruition, but it'd give Anthony Parrish and the other Guanas a reason to wear the Cosian badge with pride.

Background
~~~~`~~~~`
Batsmen
Jose Féliz
30 yrs
Right-handed bat
One of the regular opening batsmen for both local team Franco Matadors and the national team. Besides his prowess in front of the sticks, Féliz is unusual in that he's one of the few riolls who're actually involved in cricket rather than baseball. He may not inspire much fear and awe compared to his teammates, but he can always be counted on to build up some runs for his hombres.
Anthony Parrish
26 yrs
Right-handed bat
Cosie's biggest (and maybe only) cricket star in the present day. Besides playing for local team Shoretown Deejays, Parrish's talent has also earned him playing time for franchises in the Caribbean and the Pacific. His strengths include effortlessly pulling off high-scoring runs while flashing his bright smile; his weaknesses include awkwardly acting in front of a camera while endorsing strange products.
Solomon Walker
Captain
36 yrs
Right-handed bat
Wicket-keeper
The captain of domestic team Shoretown Bombers, as well as Cosie's national cricket team. Walker lives and breathes the sport, and the only time he's seen around other people is when he's on a circular field. Highly intense and highly imposing, the captain's presence can be felt far beyond the wickets; a lot of his sledging simply involves intimidating rival batsmen into submission.
Bowlers
Gail Routledge
28 yrs
Left-handed bat
Left-arm fast
One of the more renowned bowlers for both local team Mardesur Oysters and the national team. Routledge is known for his competitive spirit: he frequently attempts to psyche out the opposition with his fast-flying, hard-hitting bowls. When he's not busy bowling out his rivals, he's busy chatting their heads off to the point where even his teammates can't stand the constant sledging.
Footnotes
1 Football is #1 in Cosie, and depending on who you ask, cricket's popularity here is either heads and shoulders above, neck-and-neck, or completely unheard of next to baseball's.
Horizon Incorporate (often just referred to as Horizon Inc. or Horizon) is an Alteran multinational technology company with headquarters in Inferatus, Altera. It develops, manufactures, licenses, supports and sells computer software, consumer electronics, personal computers, and related services. Its best-known software products are the Horizon Skylight line of operating systems, the Horizon Workspace suite, and the Glass web browsers. Its flagship hardware products are the Horizon Atlas lineup of touchscreen personal computers. As of 2016, it is one of the world's largest software maker by revenue, and one of the world's most valuable companies.
Horizon was founded by Stadius Calerus on April 4, 1985, to develop and sell alternative keyboard hardware for personal PCs. It rose to dominate the personal computer operating system market with HI-DOE in the mid-1980s, followed by Horizon Skylight. The company's 1987 initial public offering (IPO), and subsequent rise in its share price, created three billionaires and an estimated 12,000 millionaires among Horizon employees. Since the 1990s, it has increasingly diversified from the operating system market and has made several corporate acquisitions, their largest being the acquisition of numerous technology and social media firms. It also holds significant data, server and other technological contracts with numerous governmental systems - including services for the governments of Noronica and Alteran republics.
As of 2015, Horizon is market-dominant in the PC-compatible operating system market and the office software suite market, although it has lost the majority of the overall operating system market to its international competitors. The company also produces a wide range of other consumer and enterprise software for desktops and servers, including Internet search (with RiChu), the digital services market, mixed reality (HoloDeck), cloud computing (Mercia) and software development (Novae Studio).
Software
  • Horizon Skylight is an operating system, utilised as the basic software that manages and runs applications on a significant portion of computers and devices throughout the region. The majority of desktop and laptop computers run Skylight, and so do some tablet computers and a few smartphones. The latest version of Skylight is Skylight 10, which was released in October 2017. The latest server version is Skylight Server 2019.
  • Horizon Workspace is an office suite, with a variety of programs designed for productivity. Horizon Scribe is the word processor, Horizon Data is used for spreadsheets and data handling, Horizon Slideshow is used to make presentations, and Horizon Telegram is the office suite's email manager. Horizon Bizerte is a server tool included in Horizon Workspace (2007, 2013).
  • Internet Adventurer was the default web browser installed in Skylight from the 1990s up until 2015. In 2015, it was replaced by Skylight Glass, which featured a new rendering engine and was built from scratch to accept HTML5, as well as future-proof it against anticipated web developments.
  • Whilst it did not develop it's own internet search engine, Horizon acquired RiChu and its associated search engine in 2012, helping to further boost its online presence - as well as add advertisement revenue to the companies' coffers. In 2017, it was estimated that RiChu brought in 3Ͼ billion ($3.6 billion) in pre-tax revenue.
  • HI-DOE (Horizon Incorporated - Desktop Operating Environment) was the first operating system developed by the company in the 1980s. Whilst no longer used, its interface is and programming structure forms the backbone of the underlying Skylight operations.
  • Horizon Game Studios owns and develops several successful well-known video game titles including; Void, Age of Nations, Urbania and Frontline.
Services
Although Horizon is best known for its hardware and software products, however, they also offer numerous web services:
  • Telegram.com (as well as its local domain derivatives) is a webmail service. Whilst all accounts are offered as free, an ad-free experience, an expanded inbox capacity and intelligent spam filtering is offered as part of a premium service. As well as email, it also offers a web calendar and contact service - with the ability to sync most mobile operating systems and apps.
  • HiDrive is an online cloud-based file service. Offering 250 GB free to a Horizon account holders, it can store and synchronize files between various devices - including mobile and PCs - using Horizon's cloud-based file storage system. For a premium fee, and as part of the Workspace 365 subscription service, users can get up to 1TB of cloud storage, though this can be expanded further.
  • RiChu is Horizon's flagship search engine, having purchased the company in 2012. The company also came with its own brand of Smartphone; the Dawn, although it doesn't use the SkyLight Mobile operating system. RiChu is often used as most internet user's first port of call on the web, with over 40% of Alterans using RiChu as their default home page.
  • Horizon offers data storage and handling services through its Cloud Computing service: Mercia. Mercia is often used by private companies, utilising the web and cloud computing storage services for a subscription fee. However, Mercia is also utilised by national governments and large corporations for a wide range of services; namely, the handling and sorting of data collected and managed on behalf of the government and corporate services and activities.
  • As part of the data and internet services, Horizon offers a web connection service, Internet Service Provider (I.S.P.), to domestic, commercial and governmental properties. Although it does has some differing names depending on the location, the company sells its internet connection services through simple its company name: Horizon. Through its fibre service, users experience a minimum download speed of 70Mbps - however, in some nations with higher quality and investment, these can increase to 1Gbps.
Hardware
  • Atlas is the name of a range of computing devices designed and manufactured by Horizon. Originally started in 2010, the Atlas range was the first series of computers designed by the company, who before were satisfied with developing the software for other companies to incorporate into their hardware. As of 2019, the company offers the Atlas Book (a laptop), Atlas Tablet (touchscreen tablet), Atlas Phone (a smartphone with 5" and 6" variants), Atlas Hub (a smart speaker connected to Horizon's AI 'Cecil') and the Atlas Studio (an all-in-one desktop PC).
  • Horizon offers a range of telecommunication hardware solutions ranging from satellites, optic fibre cables, wireless data services (3/4/5g) and signal boosters. Horizon holds a monopoly of telecommunication services in Altera, with 90% of users purchasing phone and internet services through the company. Whilst smaller independent companies offering similar services do exist, Horizon is the clear dominant market force.
Originally started in 2010, the Atlas range was the first series of computers designed by the company, who before were satisfied with developing the software for other companies to incorporate into their hardware. As of 2019, the company offers the Atlas Book (a laptop), Atlas Tablet (touchscreen tablet), Atlas Phone (a smartphone with 5" and 6" variants), Atlas Hub (a smart speaker connected to Horizon's AI 'Cecil') and the Atlas Studio (an all-in-one desktop PC).
  • Horizon offers a range of telecommunication hardware solutions ranging from satellites, optic fibre cables, wireless data services (3/4/5g) and signal boosters. Horizon holds a monopoly of telecommunication services in Altera, with 90% of users purchasing phone and internet services through the company. Whilst smaller independent companies offering similar services do exist, Horizon is the clear dominant market force.
New York driver allegedly plows into family of 8, killing mom after asked to stop smoking: report
People are evil.
Menna shuli how, if at all, should I approach my DM about being unhappy about the way he distributes inspiration and decides which ability score is needed for what roll? Besides those two things, I'm pretty happy about his DM-ing.
In terms of rolls, I generally just ask in the moment. For example, last week I was being made to roll fortitude (basically con saves) against a poison. I was ten feet out of the room the poison had been released. I stopped,looked at my DM and was like "am I really in the AoE. It was 30 feet from me." He looks at the map, says oops, and has me reverse the rolls. I would have died based on that mistake.
Regarding inspiration, I'd just talk to him before or in between sessions, away from the other players if possible. Don't let it turn into a pile-on, basically.
I'm still waiting on the university to get back to me about my application:/
